After playing EQ II beta the last month, I can safelly say... I am going to WoW. Only thing that can destroy that concept is... Well, the WoW community.

Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.

    Why would we be destroyed?

WOW so far is the only game that has been open and honest with its fanbase from day one. We have all the information we need to make an informed decision and now with the real facts out about the game that people were comparing it to I think its safe to say that WOW is the most well rounded game of the two.

SOE will cause a lot of hype and sell alot of games. After people play it for a while the "awe" factor will wear off and they will see it for what it really is. A dumbed down MMO with pretty pictures to look at.

I think WOW has nothing to fear.

What was the reason you did not like the EQII beta? (Harafnir?)

Please explain on more of the reason why the Wow community would destroy the concept.

Heh, me too image. SOE really screwed up on that one. I'm a huge pvp fan and i am really excited to raid some alliance places at open beta image.

it's not like you can consider that any other game is worth playing

I dont think I have to worry about losing interest in light of what happened last night.

I had a dream about WoW.  Pathetic, isnt it?

I dreamed that the OB had started and I downloaded the game (which took about two seconds, yay for dreams), installed it, registered, and chose my server to play on.  I even picked the right one I was gonna play on, the first PvP server from the top.

Call me crazy?  I would agree with you.

Hah I did the same thing. Except in my dream the Horde was sneaking into stormwind through the sewers and we were all fighting to try to kill the king. And for some reason I was already suddenly a level 60 orc shaman. Heh, dreams are fun.

haha dreams :D ya i agree that wow fans have been waiting for a long time, i personally have been waiting since last september, and checking from data on my comp, ive checked the blizzard site an avg of 2.5 x a day since september 1st :D  im really thinkin that WoW will do well, since its biggest competition is EQ2, which i hate, mostly for the fact that ur gonna have to buy around 20 expansions! god i hate EQ... SWG would actually be a cool game if it had more action, its a lot more ECONOMY than KILLING, which lots of ppl like, but i like my games like 60% Killin, 40 eco. Like if you played Ragnarok before it was pvp u might kno wat i mean. dam that game had good music :D and wat i THINK-- that guy mean by "could only be flawed by its community" is that all good mmorpgs have their flamers, their showoffs, their scammers etc. and i think that can be expected from any mmorpg, but i think that since WoW is sooo good, i dont think many ppl will mind, or they will find something else so good about WoW that they wont care... so ya thnx for reading my post i guess :D

I have been waiting about 2 years for WoW to come out ever since I first seen the info of it on the Blizzard web site. I played the stress test and I have been going crazy without my WoW fix ever since. In the extended 9 days of play I missed 3 days of playing and still made it to lvl 17 mostly on my own. I seen people as high as 22-31 so I know it's obbsesive, but that means its just that gang good. The last guy is right you will always have your lame $#% players but thats cause its a slice of real life. I think thats part of what I like. It gives you that feel of reality.

As far as that dream guy, I feel ya man!!! I had one worse, during the stress test I played a NE Hunter... [btw I'm gonna play the same thing in open beta] After the Stress test closed I had the same dream three nights in a row. I didn'tdream that I was playing WoW... I dreamed in first person that I was the Night Elf!!! I dreamed that I was the guy running around using my GREAT MIGHTY bow of DOOM slaying the EVIL ORC HORDE'S and sending them BACK to the VOID!!!

MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough* *cough* oh sorry...  image

So nah dude, your not alone... And NOTHING could make me Leave wow now!!! image

What you are forgetting is, Blizzard could delay WoW for a whole year even, and still sell a lot of games. It is just as simple as this, how many other big named mmorpg's are coming out? 1, Everquest 2. Sure there are other games that don't look so bad, Guild Wars looks pretty impressive. Blizzard has a big following, with lots of lore from the previous Warcraft games to draw from. Nobody can compete with it.

In today's gaming world, a game that brings more than 1-2 months of enjoyment is almost like a god. Most games today just focus on graphics and forget about gameplay, kinda like putting lipstick and a dress on a piece of poop I guess.

Basicly what I am trying to say is, Blizzard has no competition, so they can do whatever they want. In my oppinion it would be better for Blizzard to push their game back to next year "secretly" and let Everquest 2 try to hit the deadline of Nov 15. Sure a lot of people would buy Everquest 2, but when they play it for a couple months and WoW comes out, I really think WoW would steal half the population from them. SOE doesn't have the greatest rep for being a great gaming company, and most people don't even realise that SOE has yet to CREATE a successfull mmorpg. Thats right, SOE did NOT create Everquest, they simply pulled a Bill Gates and bought the game from Verant. SOE doesn't test their products, SOE releases incomplete products which highly frustrates gamers, SOE's customer service is basicly useless, they are just a bad gaming company, sorry. If you wanna know what Everquest 2 is, go pick up a copy of Omens of War, and imagine a little better graphics.

Gaming is not what it used to be, where games were actually fun. Gaming companies should really just hire some hardcore gamers to help them with creative ideas. Seems like WoW has done that, they will set the bar for what mmorpg's are going to have to live up to from now on.

i've said this in every post now about OB... when the game started, there weren't that many people yelling "whens open beta!! " it was "i can't wait till this game is released!!" so why should them saying theres an OB change your perspective on the game.... the release date has been the same for a while now, and will remain the same. all we need to do is wait for that.. OB means NOTHING in comparison to the retail release date.

just sit back relax and do something else in the meantime :) not too long to go.. under a month :D

  • mangablademangablade Member Posts: 44

ok... to the post above mine.. i nominate YOU for the "2004 || 0 0 |3 Award". OB, which stands for Open Beta, is a period (usually 2-12 weeks, im GUESSING around 8 for WoW) where people like you and me, can go to the site, create an account, download the game, play it, dont pay, have fun, and tell urself that was an awesome beta, and eithr buy it, or realize uve just played the best game ever (so far) for free for like a month. so, WHO THE HELL CARES WEN ITS COMING OUT? if the open beta is 3 years long, i'd donate to blizzard, WE WANT BETA, ITS GOOD! god... the only difference between beta and retail is that beta is free, and it has MINOR gameplay issues that will be settled by retail. But still,

OPEN BETA, IT'S A GOOD THING!
