I'm just about to play the game but first I wanted to know what would be the best class for my main character from all those experienced players out there. Thank you very much!

i have a cannon and i used to think i made the right decision until ive started levelling up.. if yougo with a cannon you have no choice but to build a stun build team... basically options become limited.. also eventually youll find your swordsmen and spear haveing +2 +3 levels above your main cannon since the cannon cannot kill of enemies.. yes he has splash, but damage is very weak. after levelling up the cannoneer for quite awhile and seeing other team builds in free league, the best hero take as you r main is a viking.. he has strong attack, and can use the guard dispel... the swordie may also be a viable option as a main.. these heroes complmented with a prophet will be unstoppabble
cannon wielders will also be obsolete once the cannoneer becomes available... cannon heroes will also eventually be dipensable unless you have a stun build team which makes the cannoneer and cannon hero complmentary to each other..
the shaman will soon be obsolete once the oracle becomes available... the oracle is basically an upgrade of the shaman.. this means eventually the shamn will be dipensable
same story with:
gunner > jannissary
swordy > lady knight exor, even sailor i guess
spearman > spartan
archer's silence > exor's mana seal or prophet's bow
WITH THE EXCEPTION of the axe wielder which cannot be replaced by a beast trainer
the axe hero can cast guard dispel and freeze.. his upgrade which is the beast master has pretty much useless skills (summon beast)
this could be a good argument for saying that the axe user courld probably be the best option for a hero
more than atk of the viking, you are after the guard dispel and freeze which is very very much effective in pvp.. when i made my analysis i was referring to pvp rather than pve...
from my experience i rarely use the basic atk of viking in pvp, id rather use his freeze becuase it gives you one turn off from the phases of those frozen opponent mercs.. im sure you probably might be wondering about the monk's holy guard that counters freeze.. in my case it is part of strategy in when you are gonna use the freeze in combination with stun capacities of the team.. when used properly, the monk will be divided in awakening or holy guarding the team.. one critical error of the oponent in battle could give you 2 phases or windows of opportunity t deal unrelentless barrage of damage without worrying about the opponent hitting back on you
i agre with you that you dont need a viking merc past level 50, but you definitely need a viking HERO past level 50s... the breakdown skills, guard dispel etc are indispensable in pvp.. not to mention the ability to combo this skills with other AoE skills... comparing the summon beast skill of the BT and the 4 skill abilities available for a hero merc, there is no question that the hero axe is better than a BT.
on side note, between a summon beast and a witches metoer strike, the summon beast fails in comparison bec meteor strike deals far more greater damage plus stunning ability while summon beast is basically useless
the basic atk of beast master and viking hero are pretty much the same.. except for the fact that if you do indeed use an axe for a hero, youre gonna be spamming plus equips and growth vials on him making him better than just any normal class c merc..
Hmm... so, an axe user is a possible choice? But, that is, if I want to do PvP? Hmm... I'm currently deciding on either a swordsman and an axe wielder... Anyway, your output are highly appreciated. Thanks!
I choosed swordman, I love monk/swordman combination.
Monk heals my main almost all time using passive skill.
I'll go for a swordsman as well, first off, a swordsman has the highest defense point and the attack is quite impressive as well. It is a good tanker of mobs and bosses. But, you still need to have a support type character to support your defense. Make sure before you started playing to choose a highly capable character to help out one another. I started as a staff user, so from the start even if I don't have a shaman yet, I already have a supportive background for my attackers, and now I do have a support type of character, which can now help me to support not only my melee's as well as my long ranged characters.

Hmmm. I am a gunner approaching 50. I have a second gunner merc so yes stun in something possible. I am an 85% PVE and 15% PVP player so take that for what it's worth.
I have two swords and a Vik up front.
A gunner and main (gunner) on the mid line.
A prophet, shaman and either artillery/second vik. I will put in a BT when I finish this "long" quest and move the Big Vik back to Mid.
I can get good stuns on 7 mob battles using the gunners and artillery but I can get good double freeze when I swap out and go two viking line up. I have a guildmate that is axe main with a shaman and 7 other vikings......he is 60 by now but they keep on freezing even after the so called useless lvl 50 mark. So I dunno. I see a lot of spear mains, sword mains - i think it depends on your style of play and where you want to be in the line up. I prefer to be a long range player with lots of bodyguards.
There is no best main character in my opinion. It is still depends on the one who is controlling the character. But for the thread starters information, I got a gunner for long range shooting and I got swordsman alongside with me as well as spearman for melee attacks.
