Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm pretty sure Joel is the guy who also worked on the quests in Ymir's with which more can be read here: forums-tl.ageofconan.com/showthread.php

but it is still a mindless boring turd of a game with no pvp and raid at end game. Why you even try to hype it avery, there is nothing there, funcom is dead after this Q3 report. let it go.

Thanks for posting your constructive opinion. All I've been doing is PvPing and raiding end game. The beauty is that the raids just got a bit more of a challenge from tweaks that just went in. Its not as boring as sitting in a queue..

    avery...you need to give up.

you are like those fools that refused to see disco as dead (or punk for that matter). take off the helmet and the cape. the hype is gone and the world knows its a POS.  every time someone posts about it being a POS you dont need to go swooping into the threads and filling them with pseudo-facts to dispute it. it just cant be healthy, nomatter how much they are paying you the game is over. no amount of "future" can stop what is already reality.

i feel bad for ya man, but you pretending its fun isnt really fooling anyone.

No offence but at least I can bring something constructive to the table in an honest way. I mean it's a news item. Your opinion, nor mine is the be all or end all.  Your profile says your a 46 yr old female and one of your posts says you like to look at hooker's ass' - sorry can't take you seriously. Thanks for showing an interest in the game though :)

I am paying to play a game I enjoy nothing more to it.

Nice way to dime someone out on their profile instead of disputing it with FACTS.

Oh thats right...you do not have any.

Nothing to see here, same ole FC bs.

Pretty interesting to see what they have done. Not that it would make me come back to the game, but still interesting. I noticed in the video though that it looked like someone killed an NPC. I could see that becoming a major problem if you can actually become so evil that guards won't touch you in a city. What exactly is there to stop someone or a group of super evil people to go on a slaughtering spree of NPCs and lower levels?

Something else I wish they'd add, to what they talked about, are slight appearance changes depending on if you are good or evil like in Fable.

Wow Megaflux, here you are knocking Avery for posting about something that he enjoys and so do many others. I don't play the game any longer ( Quite a good game just not that much time ) so im not going to comment on the new content other than it looks quite good and fun, But how can you come to this site with nothing better to do than to knock somebody for doing something they like.

Is it not about time you got over yourself and went and played a game you liked? If there is infact a game out there that can please you. Time to move on and stop acting like a little child. Whats in it for you?

I'm considering trying out AoC again. The recent update seems pretty cool, although I have read there are some problems. I'll probably wait a week or two and see if they get ironed out, then resub for a month to test out the changes. But what I'm really waiting for is more content. It just didn't seem like there was much to do once I hit level 80.

Crafting has been completely revamped. If you are a person that like hunting down rare items FC has added this via the crafting recipies that drop from a verity of bosses throughtout the world. T2 fixes and T3 being opened soon (next month). And, while there are a couple of serious (I won't lie the exploit is serious) problems with the murder system do exist now, they should be fixed by the end of next week. Over all good patch game is more challenging in both PvP and PvE and more content is on the way for both as well.

Hey Fanboi, you want constructive? How about Funcom introducing a patch that doesn't involve bugs allowing lowbies to endlessly grief 80's by turning regular PvP'ers into murderers. The Consequence system is broken and being exploited to maximum effect.

All the lowbie griefers have to do is run into some AoE or swinging swords in Kheshatta (or anywhere) and you collect murder points like flies on shit. By the way, the 'Free Prey' mechanic that is supposed to flag lowbies that enter a zone too high for them is broken too, it's non existent. Not only that but griefer guilds or groups get a lowbie buddy to join their group then apprentice them to 79, if you attack him, BAM murder points without realizing what's happening.

So essentially any lower level player can just start attacking a level 80 at anytime, and there's not a damn thing the 80 can do about without getting screwed.

To put all this in perspective, when you become a murderer the guards pretty much one or two shot you on sight. You can't use the caravan guides (that take you to different areas) leaving you helpless in the zone unless you Path out (hearthstone). If your Path of Asura is on cooldown you have to talk to a black market guy who charges you 15 silver (which is a lot) every time you want to travel somewhere.

So basically you can't PvP at all without this massive consequence that pretty much nerfs you into nothing, forcing you to just log your character and bake some cookies or something. On the official forums there are scores of posts from people saying they don't even want to log in anymore because the fun in PvP is completely ruined. Oh and rezpads, they changed it so your Shield Of The Risen (invulnerability) is constant while you remain standing on a pad. Which is all fine and good, until someone attacks you and your items with reactive damage hit the assailant dispelling the shield and open you up to a free rez camp.

So let's talk some PvE then, they 'fixed' the OOC chat so everyone in the same ZONE can see what you say but it's no longer global. So forget trying to get a group for anything, it's hard enough as it is with the ghost town servers. The player search is broken, the LFG search is broken, the looking for guild search is broken. The raid lockout prevents decent raiding, if you happen to die on the boss fight you're screwed out of a chance for an item. They also took out the choice to rez at a rezpad of your choice. So when you die it chooses one further away from where you need to get back to. All this if you can even find enough people to raid with, yes that's including hitting up your allied guilds.

Speaking of allied guilds. When you wanna help an allied guild do a siege you have to leave your guild and join theirs, log and relog or rezone just to get raid chat to actually work, then you better get an invite back into your guild right away after the siege is done. If you just log for the night and quit the allied guild, when you come back on you have no way to search for any guildmates online to get an invite back in. Unless they're on your friends list, which they wouldnt' be because when you're in the guild you just rely on the guild list that you no longer have because you had to QUIT your goddamn guild just to join a siege.

Oh and then there's all the angry Guardians and melee characters alike that are pissed about massive damage nerfs. Apparently white hits do just about as much damage in the same amount of time as it takes to get a combo off now. Combos which have been reduced to 1 or 2 key presses. Talking about screwing their own self praised revolutionary combat system.

After this patch I called it quits on the game after waiting for a patch for about a month and a half to actually fix stuff (even MINOR stuff, which consequently are still not fixed) and this is what we get. Funcom is a useless tit that couldn't fix a bug or put out a productive patch to save their own child from starvation.

    How's that for constructive?

But, if you're enjoying the game... dude by all means keep at it. But singing it's praises like you are is bound to give people unsastisfiable expectations.

    A  couple of comments.

You don't have to leave guild to join a siege or help an ally. The group leaders have to be in the guild that are actually doing the siege. The only reason a person should leave and join a guild is if they want the buffs. My guild, Immortal, PI, OG, Addiction (i think) and Reincarnation have all done this.

There are workarounds to the murder system. The smuggler camps allow you to travel to different zones for a fee.

The two things wrong with the murder system: Free pray doesn't always get triggered when a player gets attack by another and 2 being apped doesn't trigger free pray either. The latter is something that probably not even thought of to be an issue. Everyone on test is level 80 after all.

OOC: I agree there isn't an easy way to form groups. They do  need to add a global chat system, but I think they should build it from scratch since OOC, due to the fact that its designed for RP and is currently in the state it was originally, never worked correctly.

You're pulling that out of thin air Xpiher, Funcom hasn't said anything about fixing anything yet, let alone given a timeframe. Judging from how long it took them to put out a hotfix in the past, you'll be waiting another month. That's a guesstimate on my part, but they're not exactly known for 'getting things fixed' in a timely manner or fixing anything at all really. They have four times as many things to fix now than before the patch.

Here are some choice items they felt the need to fix in patch 3 instead of fixing paramount issues:

-The drunken animation will now play when you are seated.

-Female characters should no longer display jaw movements when idle.

-/stuck now checks to see if you could move normally before trying to make you unstuck.

-Female "burning" emote should now be of equal length to the male one.

-Added sounds to male and female characters' drunken states.

-Drunk players should no longer have access to obscene emotes.

-The 'squat' emote should no longer show up twice in the emote-list.

-Stygian dance-moves should now feel more responsive.

    -Special dances have been fixed.

    And one for the lulz:

---------Many exploit fixes have been included in this update.---------------

The list goes on and on.

Being a little selective with the bugs/updates in the Patch are we?

Its true that there are some bugs that should have been fixed long ago. For instance, they should fix the siege wall exploit. It can be fixed by replacing all the walls with curved walls, since those you can't walk through. Other than that there were a lot of fixes and improvments in this update, but as usual some other bugs with the new system were introduced.

I don't know if I can edit post, but I said should be fixed by next week. I didn't mean they will be fixed by then, but that if FC is smart they'll have it fixed by then. FC can get hot fixes out when they feel it is nessacary, and I'm sure this is one of those times.

I know I've sounded full of poison in my last posts, but the reason for that is because I actually really wanted to like this game. I built a whole new gaming rig for it and everything but I feel pretty let down so far. If Funcom turns it around and gets these major things fixed and adds more content, I might head back on for a look. My account doesn't expire until mid December so they have until then to get it back on track to get my resub.  That is if I'm not already knee deep in EVE, which is my next destination.

If I went back the only injury would be my pride for saying I would never buy another Funcom title again in the official forums. I'd be willing to do that, if they can actually make the game rock. But I have serious doubts right now.

There is nothing wrong with feeling like that. I think they are on the right road to fixing the game up now and delivering. It might have to be a "wait and see" in your case. But I would never build a rig for just 1 game nothing can live up to it that much.

So rather than respond to the meat of this thread, you attack this guy on a personal level? Way to troll out. MODERATORS?

Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

But, if you're enjoying the game... dude by all means keep at it. But singing it's praises like you are is bound to give people unsatisfiable expectations.

Everyone on test is level 80 afterall??? WHY? What the hell? Who thunk of that? They should have internally tested this and discovered this stuff before they released this patch.... I mean dude this is pretty core stuff to be overlooking............................... Funcom. Bow your head in shame, and then pick them back up and hire some professional testers!

Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

while this update looked great on paper, they obviously did not test it with lower levels in mind.

This patch was very promising until implimented, now it's become a huge snafu. I am kinda not understanding how the game's updates are released with such huge issues. Granted every update or publish in every mmorpg comes with some sort of bugs, but aoc just seems to ignore gameplay mechanics when they make theirs.

Coming up on the end of my 3rd week. While the graphics, music and animations are truly gorgeous, those are still its only real positives.

i cringe now every time i see a funcom update/publish.

It was tested on a bunch of level 80s on TL.  They should have included a whole bunch of level 60s too. :)

Thats funny there was a bunch of people when the leveling guys weren't available at all levels in Kesh quite a few times. Then again the patch was not just PvP.  This type of thing happens to lots of other different games patch updates. Sometimes things can work fine on a test server and then when introduced on live new bugs appear.

I was PvP'ing in Kesh in level 30's and 60's never encountered the app bug.

Please name those "lots of other different game patch updates"...

I believe that FC is in a league of its own concerning patches that work fine on test and are borked on live. Unless, of course they didn't work fine on test and they just ignore the test players (which has been mentioned on the AoC boards a few times).
