I hated runescapes pvp, it was stupid cause people would sit in rap squads and you atk on and the rest kill you. And the game sucked in every single way possible.

im sorry but... Runescapes PvP was HORRID... honestly one of the worst PvP systems i've seen...

anyways, if you want PvP i would suggest either Lineage 2 or Shadowbane... but mostly Lineage 2, as shadowbane is practically dead... not to mention L2 is better in practically every way...

Wait for Guild Wars. All PvP. Shadowbane has a fairly decent PvP system but its really greifer friendly. WHich I dont like. I still liked daoc PvP the best because they have entire zones for PvP alone. However that game went downhill with ToA and NF

oh ya, forgot all about Guild Wars... that game is pretty much based from the ground up from PvP, so you might want to take a look into that...

also R.Y.L. is fairly PvP oriented, although its not the greatest game =/...

i liked the PvP though, it actually involved some skill (although anybody 3-4+ levels higher would completely tear you apart)...

one thing you can also look forward to is CoV (City of Villains) although that's still quite a ways off...

Lineage 2 if you want open PvP.
DAoC if you want semi-restricted PvP.

Dark and Light if you want to wait 6 months. ::::18::::::18::::::18::::::18::

WoW's going to have some interesting PvP (faction based) if that's what your interested more. Excellent combo of PvP combat with PvE. Open Beta is gonna be soon so you might want to check it out then and decide for yourself.

I really dont like wows pvp, its seems like a big open pvp ground. I prefer games that you can drop items, it makes it more rewarding and competitive to play PvP.

What PvP game people think is the best is usually to their likeing. Most hardcore vet PvP'ers talked about the joys of oldschool UO (Which well. Is gone. So I suppose that's sort of no help) But the best PvP that ever existed I thought was AC1 darktide. Especially the old days, which are well, gone. But there is still alot of the good ol' system left.

Out of all the games I have played I felt that DAoC offered the best PvP system I have run across. It created more unity among members of the realms and teamwork. It drew the community together and people were more likely to help members of there realm. It also offered friendly duels which were a blast. Sometimes the best way to solve something is to kill a friend :P

i love the fleet battles in eve, the security zone system to keep the majority of pvp away from those that dont want it, and the death cost is just about right imho.

One game that hasn't been mentioned but should be is Guild Wars. This game will have PvP ladders built in to the game, and it will be much like FPS game in the way some PvP matches are handled (king of the hill, etc). I've read up on what this game offers and compared it to all the other MMOs, and I can't find one that has a better PvP system yet.

Tibia hands down.  Go for one of the open PVP servers and you can enjoy having your best friend being your best source of EXP.  While Tibia's gameplay is absolutely horrid, and the graphics are poor...  No sound what-so-ever...  It has some of the best community gaming, where you could have some big-leveled friend go against someone else's big-leveled friend.  It's very realistic in it's PVP too, there is no "official" way of spotting a PKer.  Everyone is free game *AND* you get more EXP for the higher the level character you kill...

I suggest that you give it a try.  It's free, and even if you advance to a premium account, it still is about a third less for three months than EQ, DAoC, RO, ect.

The best PVP out was shadowbane.

Winning or losing is no fun unless you have something to lose/gain. When it can range from the gold in your pocket to your entire city... it can't be beat.

If it had only gotten a real engine that could handle the lag of the larger battles it would still be viable.

Now, to get back to my praying for a good pvp mmorpg...

     Hello uofl3312,

    Welcome to MMORPG.com!

To answer your question here are the best PvP MMORPG games out right now:

     1. Anarchy Online. It is free to download and try. You can kill other players even if they are much higher level than you are. You can also take land owned by other players. And defend your gains even while you are offline!

    http://www.anarchy-online.com/

     2. EvE Online. Nice PvP. Space only game. There might still be a few Free CD keys around. Make a new thread in this forum asking a moderator for the link to get the free CD key. It is a "thinking person's" MMORPG. I strongly recommend joining a Corporation (aka guild) to learn the game better. And to join in the PvP sooner. There IS PvP for area control. Players will control areas of space rich in reasoources.

    http://www.eve-online.com/

     3. Star Wars Galaxies. Any player can kill any player ANYWHERE in the entire game. There is absolutly no place to run - just like in real life! image image image

      http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/

Of course, only players who are declared, (Rebel or Imperial), and overt, can engage in PvP. I strongly recommend playing SWG with the intention of NOT wanting to be a Jedi. Instead explore the other 30+ professions. SWG would and could have the abosolutly best PvP ever in history if not for some minor problems -

      - There is nothing to PvP for. No landcontrol which Anarchy Online has.

      - Player Jedi should not be in the game. Or there should be permadeath for them. They are too uber.

     4. TDZK. FREE to play. Space only game. Browser based. 100% Free to play. PvP is B-R-U-T-A-L. You even get to loot the loser's ship if they have cargo or money.

    http://www.tdzk.net/

4b. Runescape. FREEE to play. Yes it has PvP. It can be brutal too. The winner gets to loot 95% of everything on the loser's corpse. The loser automatically keeps 3 of their most valuable items. (There is a high level spell in the game now that allows you to keep I think 5 or 8 of your most valuable items if you die.)

    http://www.runescape.com/

PvP takes place in the far, far, northern part of the game world. In the Wilderness area. RS has unique PvP. The level difference of players who can kill you, or you can kill, changes the deeper you go into the wilderness. Bring LOTS of food! High level food is best. The trick to surviving is preparing ahead of time before venturing off into the wilderness. Constantly check your radar non-stop! Do not go near large group of players in the wilderness LOL! No one is your friend in the wilderness! LOL! Constantly con every player you see. It has recently gotten a huge graphics update.

Many people like to knock this game and make fun of it. Funny thing is they never list their reasons why they try to make fun of it. Is it good? Is it intresting? Yes. For anyone on a strict budget and dying to play a MMORPG this is a nice game.

Death stings hard in this game.

    -----------------

     5. Dark Age of Camelot. Free to download and try. You have to grind levels to top level to have any chance at all in PvP. Because a player who is a few levels above you is automatically invincible. Grind to level 48 to have any chance in PvP. Reach the highest level to have the most PvP fun. There is PvP for a type of landcontrol. (Realm raids.). Unfortunatly, DAoC does not allow players to defend their gains while offline. (Which AO DOES have.)

    http://www.darkageofcamelot.com/

     6. Shadowbane. Same description as DAoC. Graphics are not as good though. Not being able to defend your gains while you are offline is a serious detriment!

    I would say planetside.

I know its not a traditional mmo"rpg",  but it is an mmo.

And with Planetside youd ont have to grind your character out to be effective.  You can jump right in with a nob character and kill a ton of people.  And every level you gain you just become more useful.

Its alot of action and combat.

No other MMO that I know of lets you have as much fun right away,  you usually have to progress for a few months to become an average player.  Not so in Planetside.

I hate starting new games and being the newbie who is years or months behind everyone.

ummmm im sorry dude but AO doesnt fit the bill of being good pvp, any game with a rock papper scissors approach to pvp is teh suck, profession balance went out with the fun when they introduced SL (even before then it was still unbalanced, tho not as much) SL ruined AO pvp with thier perk system, along with the special nerf. MA/ADV/FIX are too uber due to one perk (acrobat perkline), DOC is practiacally unsoloable at end level (ie u need like 4 people to kill doc and only if u get the gank on her), alpha classes (MA, SOL, SHA, KEE) can decimate low hp classes in 2 secs (sorry u can solo a doc with a strong alpha, erhhmmm shades)

Well personally in my 5 years of playing Ultima Online, I always found everything about that game better, expecially the atmosphere. The PVP was very enjoyable. My account got hacked about a year ago, and I havent played since, so I'm not sure if anything has changed.

SWG was quite fun as well. Lol and if you're looking for some of the best PVP in any online game, check out World War II online, I played that for about a year, its quite addicting.

I personally like planetside and shadowbane.  Just too bad that each of these get real boring after a month due to repetitious gameplay and lack of content.

MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

I don't know where people get the idea that WoW is PvP. It isn't Same with DAoC. DAoC is RvR, WoW is AvH which is very similar to RvR. RYL is RvR also but you can dual so it has PvP. Shadowbane is PvP, but is mainly KvK, however the world is open to PvP.

I liked SB's PvP system best especially the Scout and Rogue skills made it very fun. However there was too many negative things about SB that made made my quit after playing for a month after release.

Outside of that AC's DT server is the most choatic PvP and If you want straight up PvP AC's DT server is the best. Especially what they are doing to it now with town control from what I hear.

However, if you are wanting to wait and don't care for chaotic PvP and rather be able to hunt without everyone killing you all the time. I would wait for WoW. Eventhough WoW is a AvH game they have a few servers that will have all PvP enabled if I am correct.. Right WoW guys? However, to me the typical AvH is good enough, I have been out hunting when a few came out of the shadows that freaked the heck out of me Night Elven eyes to see these ugly undead looking things and rip me apart sending me to my grave. That was good enough for me. I don't want it worse off where even my own kind are killing me everytime I skin a bear. So with WoW you have a choice. However, waiting longer will get you DnL. However as for guild Wars. I just don't feel the community there will be the same as most MMO's it has a total different feel to me. Like the way the game Savage makes ya feel. I guess it is all depending on what you are looking for.

    I hoped I helped some.
