What's not to like?

A hardcore game with freedom, rewards, and consequences.

I can find no faults in the design approach to this game.  I hope it delivers and soon.

I hear that.  It has been seven years, after all.  Hope we see a true release soon.

    Yep, the game is perfect.

Started playing mmorpg's in 1996 and have been hooked ever since. It began with Kingdom of Drakkar, Ultima Online, Everquest, DAoC, WoW...

What's not to like? The fact that there's no concrete evidence it's coming out? Or the fact that it's been pushed back so often that it could be done again so that beta comes out November 10th 2009?

  • Loke666Loke666 Member EpicPosts: 21,441

There is nothing to like or don't like until at least you tried it. The concept sounds intresting and it could be a great game but we don't really know anything yet.

And the thing that kills MMOs are the hype, just wait until you can back anything up, go take a cold shower until you're in the beta or something.

Agree about the freedom, rewards and consequences with OP. The game as how it is designed has a very good concept in offering a  rich and immersive MMO experience.

But it needs the expert gamer for to enjoy it. A gamer who needs NPC's to tell him what to do, who need to see his level number for to enjoy something,  who  need  max level  to enter  PvP and then only if he can check  level  of enemy will be overchallenged  by freedom and real consequences.

DF is  designed  for the expert. Someone who put himself  goals and/or can work with other players to reach team goals.

DF is designed for the expert, that right there is a complete lie. Any 10 year old kid will be able to play DF, this is just another attempt by the fanbois to evelate themselves to some untouchable status simple because of the playstyle they prefer. Despicable.

Have you any argument or example for  you statement or is it you just like to flame supporters  ?

If you have read my post more carefully or given more attention to it then you would notice i am talking about difficulties may arising for players who have not experienced a challenging game yet..this difficulties may  have consequences for DF...

All I read was a broad generalization, theres no such thing as an expert MMO player. And frankly I get tired of the Froth&Foam Fanbois(TM) constantly trying to elevate themselves above the rest of us by saying things like "But it needs an expert player to enjoy it"

I promise you that at some point a 12 year old kid will kick your butt in pvp, hows that for an 'expert player"

it dont require an expert to player DF, it's just different kind of game than eq/wow/war.

i actually think DF will be easier to play for the casual player, if you look at pvp, because pvp in wow you have to have the best gear, which requires endless grinding.

In DF you will be able to do ok, without grinding endlessly.

    I agree.

If anything at least the PvP portion of DF will be more casual-friendly of any other MMO to date.  What other MMO with PvP gives the ability for a 1st day newb to kill a 3-year vet.?

That is about as casual-friendly as it gets!

Will probably tick off the vet. though; when/if the 1st day newb kills him and steals all his stuff.  Heh... be like winning the lottery for the newb.

I have seen and too often experienced games that looked like winners on the outside and were just awful once you spent your hard earned money to play them.Among them Vanguard.......Age of Conan.....War(luckily I got in the beta as saw this was a turkey). I have a "show me" attitude now after getting ripped off too many times.I really do hope the game is all , it seems to be though.

Atleast the devs dont have some crazy advertising campaign promising loads of stuff they cant possibly deliver. Im willing to believe Aventurine mainly because of the way they are handling the game's advertisement and feedback from Tasos. It certainly looks more promising that Vanguard, Age of Conan and War.

The reason is though that Aventurine have promised that there are no game breaking problems, for example they have promised a smooth engine (unlike Vanguard's engine lol), as i said theres no exagerated advertising unlike Age of Conan and to a lesser extent War and the mechanics of the game are unique which will give it a different kind of feel rather than a game like War which just feels like WoW because the mechanics are too similar.
