I Need Help ;)

BeyornBeyorn Member UncommonPosts: 372

I just have started and I got my first character to level 12.  He is a staff user and I keep getting my butt handed to me in battles (PVE only).  I have a spear, gun, sword, and 2 staff.  So I have 2 front line (sword and spear), 1 second line (gunner), and 2 in the back (staff).  The shaman and the staff are very squishy so I thought I may have made the wrong choices for party members and for a main.  So I started a canon and an axe.  I'm not sure what I should make my main and how much healing I should have to start with.  I'm a total noob so all comments welcome.

So my questions are:

1.  What would be the best starting class for a main?

2. Should I concentrate on my front line first?

3. What mercs should I concentrate on first so I can have a good chance to have some fun (only PVE, I R Carebear)?

Thank  You All!

Well, just a thought here, I usually chooses my main character based on my likes and personality. So then at first I as well have some doubts about the choices I made during my first week of playing the game. I'm as well is a staff user, at first I tried to focus more on how am I going to strengthen my defense If I only got a swordsman, gunner and archer, with a main character of a staff user. I had to cope with the weaknesses that my character have by givng a full support to my swordsman which is my only melee type character, but then it all changed when I've hired a shaman mercenary, I do have two support type character in the party, and now I can support the swordsman as well the gunner and the archer. Then the viking came along, I know plan well on how am I going to build a line up. I just strengthen my line up with the support they can get from the two staff users I got, oh yeah, the 2 long range type is also a big help, since as they go stronger their attacks go stronger as well, even now my staff user characters can kill monster by two shots.

I dont think there is really a right or wrong line up (to a point).

I read that a single spear is a waste since it is all about AP reduction so your opponents can't attack.

I started with two swords, two guns (one my main) and a shaman.

I would suggest another swordsman for more tanking up front (plus interchangeable gear between the two)

    Sword ------ Sword

    Spear ------- Gun

    Shaman ------Shaman

Then work on either another spear to compliment your first or shelve him for a viking or maybe a second gunner for stunning - at 20 your gonna want a monk so you can keep holy guard (PVP yes but there are many mobs that poison you and I prefer to use HG to remove it immediately)

    For Now:

I would suggest healing your tanks with your main and healing your main with your other shaman and you may be doing this.  Also PLUS your gear....plus plus plus.  At level 12 you should have a full array of +2 or better spirit gear.  Use your skill books  and use your potions and get your stats as high as possible.

well since your main is a staff, it's pretty much a softie when it comes to defense. try equipping it with armor and a ring of dexterity to up her defense.

    1. Axe, he can tank and do a lot of damage. or Sword , better tank less damage

    2. Sword and Axe are good tank, at lvl 50 spearman become a good tank too.

    3. You need badly 2 tank, I started with a sword and a axe (or spear)

Don't forget to change your formation, leave only 2 chars in front line.

    Tank1   - Tank2    - Empty

    Range1  - Range2  - Empty

    Caster1  -   Caster2   - Empty

    bye
