Your best off to Splurge a bit and Spent Extra 20$ and Buy 8800Gt, it is the Best bang for your Buck by far.. it will run any game to date nearly max settings.. I run farcry 2 on my comp Maxed with 45 fps and that aint small Resolution either.
you could buy a 20$ card and still run wow at max so that list that was posted would work for u
It wouldn't be constant 60fps, especially on raids, and especially with the dynamic shadows introduced with the last patch. WOTLK seems more demanding as well in terms of sheer amount of environmental polgyons being thrown around.
But yes, a $20 graphics card could run WoW, it just needs more juice to get the max out of the game than people think. Especially if you're playing on a big screen like me. My old 7800GTX with all the options turned to max was dropping to below 30dps on 1920x1200 resolution.

Voodoo 2
nVidia 8800GT would be my suggestion, dirt cheap and performs well.
But it all depends on one thing, how much you want to spend? theres heaps of options.
i was looking to spend from 50 to 100 dollars
even a GeForce 8600 would be more than enough to run WoW.
ok in that range, look for the best priced:
<$100
8800GTS
8800GT
9600GT
9800GT hardest to find under 100
8600GT
Ati4650
Ati3850
All these cards will do the job
Stay away from:
Nvidia 5200, 6200, 8400
Ati 9250, x1300
They re not the best for games.
Thanks to everyone for all the answers. I just want to see if this one grforce 8600 gt from tiger direct was any good.
just fyi, my laptop running Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT (mobile version) is able to play WoW at maximum FPS at all time with maximum FPS (60).
as long as there is no heavy prog running background
you could buy a 20$ card and still run wow at max so that list that was posted would work for u
I use an Nvidia 8800GT and I can play on the highest settings. Plus it's cheap.

Not to Mention Crysis Maxed either worked perfect
