Why I did not buy WAR

I had a choice to get BF2142 or WAR. As great as WAR looks its subscription is too much. i mean, $10 a month--  FINE. It was as expencive as WoW and having a budget for gaming I figured i would get much more value out of BF2142 plus WAR could epic fail. Anyway why did/ did you not buy WAR?

played WoW, GW, RO, MS, Thang, RS, RAKION, PWI, Atlantica Online, FlyFF, RF (I'll miss RF) and a fiew more.

I didn't buy WAR as I didn't want to make the mistake I did with AoC. Instead I decided to wait a few weeks to see how it did.

Regardless to say I did not, and will not buy it now.

I didn't think the core concepts of the game would be entertaining for long enough to warrent the time investment.

It's looks too much like it's predecessors.

Warhammer still feels like beta. It's absolutely terrible and it's not worth paying for currently. You did a good thing not wasting your money on it like a lot of us did.

I wanted to wait and see how WAR did before I got it and my old rigs weren't up to par to run it. My new laptop can, but I'm in no hurry to sub to a game. I'll probably stick with Guild Wars for a while.

I bought it because it has already provided me with hours and hours of enjoyment.

I have not had this much fun since the old days of original EQ.  Tip of the hat to Mythic for a job well done!

I absolutely love the game and think you missed out on a great opportunity to have some casual fun.  Sure, $15 can be steep for some people, but it just depends on how you find your entertainment.  Two, or one and a half movies a month, or play hours of a game?

I seriously hope that people don't come to these forums to find out whether or not to play a game.  I see, in every forum, a large number of haters, some of whom have never even touched the game they are commenting on.  For instance, Zayne3145 in this topic:

Yeah, because if you listen to the people here, you would play what? Nothing? WoW? Or maybe not even that.

I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for decent RvR experiences.  Choose a med/med pop server and have some fun.  Or don't.  Stay here and whine to yourselves about how bad WAR is.  I'm having a great time.

WAR has fulfilled my FPS need in terms of game playing. I can log in for a half hour to an hour, and partake in PvP/RvR. I have the choice for a nice controlled matchup (scenarios), or some crazy open world RvR.

However, right now it doesn't feel like it has the depth of customization for avatars or classes; each one feels very "set" regardless of spec.

I do think it is a great game, and will only get better, but it is becoming a hard sell to spend $15/month on something I play a few hours a week. I am going to continue subscribing through the end of the year, but patch 1.1 really needs to bring some diversity and depth to the game outside of the RvR experience.

I'll probably pick it up when spring semester starts.

    LOL,

I got burned with FURY, so I didnt buy AOC on release nor did I buy WAR.

This forum + Xfire (and the people here) are the perfect place to listen to if you want to know what game to buy.

Ill w8 till it gets better and bigger population to buy it.

i agree with the above poster...WaR is pretty fun if you wanna kill a couple of hours like a FPS.

But it doesnt have that depth that im used to for a MMO, so with that being said its not worth $15 a month for.

well, if you are interested to access scenarios (battlegrounds a la WoW) you can do so right away when you create your character at level 1. Other than that, war is nowhere. Bad news for scenario lovers, once you hit Tier 2 you cant do scenarios from Tier 1, and the same for the higher Tiers. Pretty much this game closes scenarios as you level.

Good point, I spend shitloads on movies and even lunch per week and if I cut out one movie and a bit of lunch I'de be able to play WAR on my shitty little budget :P Going form the most useful post ever to the most useless.

For whoever said something about my use of epic fail, i don't know how to double quote or double post. I am a /b/rother at heart and who cares if I write epic fail. Fail is it does not take off, epic fail is people pay for it and it fails to take off.

played WoW, GW, RO, MS, Thang, RS, RAKION, PWI, Atlantica Online, FlyFF, RF (I'll miss RF) and a fiew more.
