I left the game after creating too many alt's and not enjoying TBC as much as lvl 60 WoW about 5 months ago because I lost my account (don't call me dumb, someone stole ALL my information including my payPal account, it wasn't because I was trying to run a glider). I had a 70 Hunter, 68 Warrior, 61 Shaman, 45 Rogue, 43 Druid, 60 Hunter, and 51 Shaman. All are gone now.
I'm looking to play more casual than I normally played, but I don't want to spend 6 months getting back to 70.
So my question how many people think it's worth it to come back and start fresh?

I also wanted to add that a majority of my real life friends quit as well. We started with a group of around 8 of us, and now there is only one person debating to come back with me.

I've been tempted to come back also... I was about to create another thread like this but I'll jump in your boat instead ...

Voted for no. I was in similar situation to yours few months ago. Me and my rl friend who also used to play wow decided to give it a go. We have installed it, downloaded all the patches, addons and shiet, then entered the game, only to find out that most of our friends had either quit or spread to other servers. We played alts for 2-3 hours then I decided to give up. My friend played +- one week and gave up too. First I thought I could somehow enjoy wow again, but I kinda lost motivation. And even if more of my rl friends would decide to play again I doubt I could take the same ol´ road and feel like Im not wastin my time.
Dunno about starting new again. If you had high level toons I'd say it might be worth checking out the revamped talent trees.
I have no desire to play that game again, but lots of people are curious about the death knights and what not.
If you have your original WoW cd key you can always get your account back and restored if something happened to your characters.
WoW is definately a casual friendly game compared to most MMOs out there, but the fun in leveling isn't like it used to be when it first came out. It's not easy to get lower level instances going even with the LFG tool. I suggest looking up Aion and keeping an eye on that. I haven't done much research on it, but I have read it will be casual friendly as well.

A work in progress: (Update: 08/09/10)Easily find your favorite type of MMO
The decision to play WoW is one that can only be made by you. However, the best answer to this question is obtained by answering this
What is it you enjoy about playing an MMO? What do you want out of the game?
I wrote an article on this subject
A guide on how to find a new MMO to play
Good luck!

No.
Whatever drove you away before will drive you away again. It's the same game, pretty much the same models (a few new ones sprinkled in), same grind, same MEH.
If anyone wants to come back I can throw a scroll of resurection their way for some free days. Just let me know. I say yes to coming back
I would say yes on coming back, If you can get your toons back that would be great. for the most part the last couple of patches including the one yesterday have really changed a few things. There is a new things called Achievements proffesionis and added guild tools. it adds another lvl to the game it was the silgle reason my wife came back with her 70 Hunter I am sure they took that idea from Guildwars but I am all for stealing other MMO ideas to make the game i play better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. If you have to start all over, then that might be a big deal considering now you need to get to LvL 80. do yourself a Favor and roll a HORDE cause the Allied suck!!!
I think the additional 10 LvLs may hurt a few things, starting new toons would be a huge challange and i know Blizz has added double XP from 1 to 60 and maybe they might extend that to 70 now but 80 LvL now that is alot to invest.

Not really. WotLK does not offer anything new to the genre. It's the same old grindfest on a different dimension. If you love grinding and raiding, you should come back, otherwise just stay away.

Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies.
Osbourne Cox: I know very well what you represent. You represent the idiocy of today.
Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.
Osbourne Cox: You are part of a league of morons. Oh, yes. You see you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. But guess what. Today, I win.
I was looking to also start back up.. I have a lvl 70 Priest and a 61 lock, but I want to start from scratch. Unfortuntately all of my friends are 70 an don't want to re-roll.. that's the only think stopping me from resubbing.
I would say NO.
The content in wotlk is nothing specialy new actualy, new bgs that have gotten realy realy bad reviews from players.
New lvl 80, grind as hell for 2 weeks.
New profession... baah
Same old gameplay style and linear play.
Its just giving you a new fresh expansion like TBC.
But ul get soooo bored after just a couple weeks.
I left WoW about 3 years ago, I've played about 7 or 8 MMORPGs since then, and then came back to WoW about 2 weeks ago. I had a Lvl 60 tauren warrior on a PvE server and a Lvl 60 gnome mage on a PvP server.
I bought the "Battle Chest" edition with TBC (my old account I gave to someone else) and started from scratch with 4 characters on a well populated PvE server. To me, personally, it's great to be back and I understand fully why the other MMORPGs (apart from LOTRO) just can't compete.
I think server choice is important. I nipped back into the medium populated PvP server where I had my Lvl 60 mage and virtually everyone in Ironforge was Lvl 70! Obviously, I think it would be harder to level up a new character on a PvP server.
Back on my new (well populated) PvE server much more players seem to be levelling from the low-levels; that's perhaps a feature of a PvE server - more players actually play for enjoying content and exploration rather than rushing to the endgame.
So, yes, by all means make a return - but research on which server to choose is much more important now than in the earlier days in my opinion.
I've been hearing the siren call of WOW again. It had good performance and although not realistic, I found the graphics to be very well done. I don't know....LOTRO is coming out with their expansion and WOW is coming out with theirs.
I say come back.
I recently came back to my favorite server stormreaver which has a medium-high population.
I have a 70 pally but have been rolling alts for fun aswell. Theres constantly players rerolling and some that are completely new to wow.
This game is still very popular. I would suggest to find a high pop server.
Yes... I returned after watching on Youtube the Wintergrasp Blizzcon video, If it's all the same then they do it the best...Period!
Dudes can anyone send me a scroll of rez please.
I really wamt to try it again
Thanks a lot
Yea I am kind of in the same boat only I sold my account online so not only would I have to start fresh but I would have to rebuy the game and 2 x-pacs. I was dissapointed with war and sure enough im cravin wow again. I know its the same old grind though and I will probably get hooked again. I just wish there was another big mmo on the horizon for me to look forward too then maybe I would not be thinking about WoW so much.
