New patch worth it?

Hey guys. Im playing WAR right now for the RvR. I havent played WoW in a long time. Got out of it because no one really cared anymore with the expansion coming out.
Anyways my friend is bugging me to come back. So the question I got is with they new patch that came out adding the new talents and prof. Is it worh Subing for amonth to try the new stuff?
Also im confusued because it seems like other then a new area and a new "class" there really is nothing big about the expansion since they released so much in that big patch which is already out. Can you still keep leveling with out the expansion?

If you're not concerned about the $15 I 'd say check it out. Your reason for leaving in the first place was somewhat vague, so I really can't give you any real advice here.
Personally I thought the patch was decent. The graphic changes are subtle, but they do offer an additive affect (small things like shadows, etc.). I'm still deciding whether the warlock (my main atm) are worth investing fully in one area or not.
If you like the RvR of WAR, then you may want to look into the new PvP zone in the expansion.

Well ya I would keep WAR going for the RvR. I was never a fan off Wows pvp. Im more thinking of trying it out for the PvE asspect of it all.
So does anyone know if you can max level without buying the expansion?
No.
To be clear, you can't access the new continent, the new class, or level past 70 without the expansion.
Whether you want to is up to you. Most classes have received a decent dps boost in the patch and it might be worth checking out. I know my friend who checked his pally after a year and a half absence was ectastic.
But you get all the new talents and the new prof correct?
Also arent they making a heroics mode for all the level 60 instances and raids? Do you know if you can play those without the expansion?
The new talents are in and the new profession can be leveled to 375. However, they are not making heroic mode for 60 instances or raids. There is no announced plan to do so and multiple posts that they don't feel those are necessary.
If you are interested in doing those old 60 raids, better resubscribe now while people do them for achievement. There is going to be much less interest when most people have the achievement completed.
No, you can't go higher than lvl 70 without buying WoTLK.
Not as much was added with the patch as you think. Mainly it was just the new talent trees, the Inscription profession, barbershops and dynamic shadows.
All the new PvP content which includes a new open PvP zone and a BG both with Flying vehicles, siege weapons, destructable bases and base defenses is only available with the expansion. All the new PvE content which includes several new zones, instances, skills etc is only available with the expansion. The new class and leveling to 80 and professions to 450 is also only available in the expansion. There's a lot more to the expansion than you realize.
Two Things:
First, will you recieve an extra 30 days of playing time by installing the expansion?
Second, don't forget that their is the Srcoll of Resurection which you can come back for 10 days for free. Which I'm currently looking for so if anyone wants to help me out, that would be great.

If you play paladin exclusively like I did run. Run hard run fast and don't look back.
WoW's pvp, if you can call it that, was horrible. If you are a fan of pvp you should stick to warhammer or guild wars. Everything I have heard about Warhammer pvp says it is awesome. I was interested in it, but after playing wow for a bit I am sick of the grind so I went back to GW.
If you want advice, stick to what you have. The newest patch messed up some classes, made some op, made some op that were then nerfed into nothing. The pvp stuff being added in the patch is just a lame attempt to catch up to the pvp content of others. The problem with it is that it is still subpar to pvp content in other games already out.
