Item Mall Prices

SlappanSlappan Member Posts: 289

What do you think of the item mall prices in Atlantica Online? Some items like licenses, especially teleport and merc room, are essential, while others like mounts and power potions, are more of luxuries. Personally, I think that the permanent items are priced right, while some of the others could be tweaked a bit. What are your thoughts on this, and will you be buying item mall stuff?

I already bought a permanent inventory license. I'll buy a permanent merc room license eventually when my free licenses run out and I need it. Beyond that, I don't plan to buy anything from the item mall.

Well the permanent inventory license sounds like a good idea for me to, and prolly one of the mounts, other than that ill try to not use the mall...

I have held off buying anything atm from the mall.. I feel te licences are prices just a bit too high.. if i wanted to pay $15 per month,  i would probably be headed to a p2p game so as to be on par with all the others players.

Some of the items was just priced right, since some of them is really a necessity like the tele, mercenary room licenses, it was really sold on such a fair price due to its function but for some items which is just like what the TS said for his own wants I think it should have been solved on much more cheaper price.

I orginally thought they were too high based on what was visible on the day they started previewing the mall. Many other people also felt the pricing was far too high. However, 2 days later they introduced the Adventurer's Pack and the Warrior's Pack, which bundle all the most useful licenses at a montly cost that is 100% reasonable and competitive with other North American MMO prices.

As a result, I tried the game out and am loving it completely. Best MMO I've seen come along in quite a while.

This is supposed to be a "free" MMO. But there are items that are really necessary, which you have to pay for. Pay too much for.

This is a fairly good game, but it's way too shallow compared with the pay2play games (subscription games). But when you have to pay the same amount of money as for a p2p game, then there's no reason for me to play this at all.

This may sound strange, but based on what I just said:

Atlantica is a good game, but for me it's now a dead game.

The only "must have" licenses are the Teleport license and the Health Check license". The Adventurer's package gives you both of those licenses for 30 days for only 11.99. That's 20%  cheaper than a typical MMO license, even more when you consider that you don't pay a sales tax on that (I pay sales tax for most of my MMO subscriptions, but not these Item Mall purchases.)

Yes, the world environs aren't as large, but there's a comparable number of quests and the combat in this game is significantly more deep and interesting than any other MMO to date, including Guild Wars, which IMO previously held the record for the most interesting combat mechanics. Also the PvP league mechanics in this game are deeper than even in Guild Wars. Then there are gaming elements you don't find in other MMOs at all, such as betting on the gladiator matches, the super guild management and advertising system, the skill training system, and many others. What other subscription MMO have you played where your guild can post an online advertisement every time your leader or officers are online and actually able to reply to tells from interested prospective members?

So I feel that it's incorrect to call this game "shallow". Just because the world itself is a little smaller does not mean that it's shallow. Vanguard had a *huge* world but it was incredibly shallow as MMOs go.

Sorry, but that's a lot of bs.

Paying 80% of normal subscripton fee for 2 licences, and still have to pay even more to get features you take for granted in p2p games... That gets expensive, it quickly gets more expensive than p2p games.

Have you played every single MMO ever released? I'm willing to bet anything that you haven't. So there's no way you can say that "combat in this game is significally more deep and interesting than any other MMO to date". Don't pretend to be an expert on stuff you cannot possibly know.

As for your question about the guild stuff: I've managed just fine with the tools available in other games, and for me, Atlantica brings nothing new and exciting here. EQ2 has the option for unguilded players to see ads for recruiting guilds, and to see if recruiters are online or not, so that's nothing new. It's actually 4 years old... And you can also chat with your guild without logging on to the game.

And yes, I still think Atlantica is VERY shallow, compared to p2p games. And it's extremely linear. Right from the beginning you're told exactly where to go, you can even auto-run to next position (even to where the quest mobs are), and it takes a good while before you feel you can "break free". In no other MMO I've ever played, have I felt so forced in doing things in a certain order/direction as in this game.

You're entitled to your opinion, as am I. =)  And yes, you might find it hard to believe but I've subscribed to (or heavily beta-tested) all but about 3 of the Western MMOs ever produced. And I've played at least 8 of the Asian MMOs ever produced.  Seriously.  And my preference is for hard-core FFA PvP environments.

Is AO perfect? no, no game is.  Is it better than pretty much anything released in the past 3 years. Yes, absolutely.

You are correct. I find it hard to believe. At least if you claim to have played them thoroughly, enough to have in-depth knowledge of each game's combat system.

And for heaven's sake, don't say "I'm a dev". We've seen it 100s of times before, and no one will believe it this time either.
