I ve been enjoying warhammer but recently i decided to try playing it in window mode , as soon as i did i realised i d made a mistake . I could nt open anything like bads tomb of knowlage game options etc . So i decided to restart . Upon restarting i found the game was still in window mode and found that i could nt tick the accept terms and conditions so effectivly i could nt re enter the game . On top of this you cant minimalise the windowed game so your able to do other things on your desktop . Warhammer does have potential but so much needs to be improved before for me at least its worth a subscription fee . I cant be bothered to reinstall it with three days left to go but this is the straw thats brocken the camels back for me . Its a good game but frustrating with all the minor problems that add up to major hassles .
For the moment I quit . Its back to Lord of the Rings for me . I may try it again in several months time but they ve got to put thier house in order .

I play in Window mode & have never had any of those problems.
When I want to access my desktop I just hit the Windows key & the taskbar appears.
I do this quite often to check quest details etc via Google & it has always worked fine for me.
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?
Take the Hecatomb? TCG What Is Your Doom? quiz.
What are your system specs? I play in Windowed Mode all the time and it works fine for me. I have a 3.4Ghz Pentium D 2gigs of ram and an 8600 card (windows xp) so its hardly max and hardly min specs.
btw you can change back to fullscreen mode if you actually bother to look in the files for Warhammer Online. Most settings ilke that are held in a set of scripts you can easily change yourself.

yeah i d been doing that as well i just decided to try window mode for a change so i could talk to someone one msn while it was in window . i ve never had this problem before with any other mmo and i ve tried pretty much every one of them .
actually we pretty much have the same setup apart from the fact i have 3 gigs of ram . i ve already bothered to look in the warhammer files . i m pretty well versed with pcs so thats the frist thing i did . although i m always willing to learn something new . if you can find the file your talking about i would appreciacte if you can place the information in this forum .
thanks
To correctly play in window mode your window mode resolution has to be set to the same resolution as your windows desktop. If the two differ, the placement of the interface overlay doesn't line up with what you see on screen, because windows and the game are conflicting in terms of location on screen (and rightfully so, you are essentially telling the game two differing resolutions to use simultaneously).

This is Bogus. My resolution is 1600 x 1200 but I play the game in a lower res setting than that adn there are no alignment issues for me. No professional game programmer would ever program their interface to be so incredibly faulty. There are dozens of ways to code around this and all of them are elementry school in programming.

Well then maybe there is something more to it than that - all I know is that when I had raised my windows resolution about a month ago, it had the same effects to the game the OP described in his original post, until I set my in game windowed mode resolution to the same as desktop res, and the problem was resolved.
Consider that the difference could be choosing a larger resolution than desktop in game as opposed to choosing a smaller one. In your case, because you have chosen smaller, you have the available room on screen to display the whole game. In the other, you don't, and so you get an effect where the overlay gets pushed off of the visible screen.

I level alts in WoW while I wait for scenarios to pop. If windowed mode isn't working for you then there's something wrong with your comp, not the game. Also does full screen work? If it does I don't see the problem.

I say we strike all users from the site for not being MMOs.

Why would you set your game in that manner int he first place? Its not an issue with the game when you do this. Thats windows going wtf are you touching? Your outside of bounds.

actually this would make sence as to why i had the problem but i agree if it is indeed a fault with the progamming it really is very unproffessional . its something i ve never come across before in any game i ve played . some games even offer a safe mode start or even allow you to access the settings in a seperate program in the start menu shortcuts . warhammer offers neither of these . hopefully they ll recifty this in the future but for now this is a very real problem . what i m doing is reinstalling the game because its the easiest solution but its annoying because its something i feel i should nt have to do . lets just say it does nt make me warm to warhammer .

Im sorry but i have to disagree with you when you say you are familiar with pcs and gaming itself, the easiest solution is not to reinstall the game just to reset a config file.
Also people have said in previous posts that they play in Window Mode just fine. maybe the problem is your pc.
full screen works fine i just wanted to try window mode an could nt get back . i would say the chances that theres something wrong with my computer because one game has problems in window mode when everything else is working fine is extremly unlikly . i also just reformatted it because i ve recently moved and changed isp . so decided to have a bit of a spring clean . i also regulary defrag use anti spyware software , clean out my start menu my using the msconfig so theres nothing running in the background i dont want there to be .
everything else is works fine even tried warcraft trial to see how that was running earlier and no problems there . no problems in lord of the rings either
its just warhammer .
If full screen works, then its your side, not warhammer. Any PC Tech will tell you this. And other people are not having issues and if they were, they fixed it within their PC, not Warhammer. So your just being stubborn and looking for a reason to bash warhammer. If you dont like it, then leave, dont bash, and if you do like it, then you would be fixing the issue correctly. Reboot pc, perform file check, then call their tech support. If that doesnt work, their tech support would even tell you, reinstall game, which you never did. So hence, you never tried fixing the issue.
I had the same problem . Could nt work out how to reset it in the Warhammer files and ended up reinstalling the game . Since then i ve kept it in full screen mode . If you doubt this is a problem in the game try it and see .Be warned you may have to reinstal it . Its definatly a software problem perhaps it does like the set up on certain pcs ?
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171704 its not only just the two of us i ve just put it into yahoo theres plenty of people having problems and posting about this issue elsewhere
hopefully it will be fixed in the near future.
The above link confirms your theory is incorrect .Just put in warhammer online window mode problems and theres plenty of people having the same issue . Any PC Tech could tell you it a software issue if hes not tryng to rip you off and spend costly hour trying to fix what he knows is a non existant problem . The game is pretty good but they do need to fix this . Your simply wrong if you think this problem is anything other than anything to do with Warhammer . As i m sure will be proven in due course .Its good its being talked about as it will alert Mythic to the fault and hopfully they will put it right .
Still dont see a issue here and I know alot of people playing this game. I would think one of them would say something to use, especially since alot of us are tech support people, hence I am tech support for a ISP. Majority of the issue lie with the PC itself, granted Warhammer has other issues, but I run windowed, full screen, back to window all the time and I use Vista basic, you think, out of all Windows OS, Vista would have issues, but no, its all what you got running on your pc and how well you keep it cleaned and UPDATED. Funny how a driver update can fix all your issues.
Maybe non of them tried it in window mode .... Give it a try and let me know how you get on . oh and try it all the different resolutions maybe thats where the fault lies .
I did try and I am fine. Its your PC. In fact, I had 2 others help me and we tried 5 PCs, all FINE. Its your pc.

Another link i ve found with someone having the same problem . Obviously every computer is different but its definatly a software problem and its starting to be reported all over the web within the first month of the game so i think theres proberbly something to this beyond the it being down to the the individuals pcs . i m certain its not happening on every pc but its happening on enough for it to warrent Mythic looking into it . I m not saying this is a bad game but fanboys trying to sweep it under the carpet does nt get it solved and it does need to be .
if you are going to play in windowed mode, i found it best to turn off window borders (uncheck the box). Works perfectly after.
lol you tried it on 5 pcs in 4 mins according to the time you posted this in responce to my post . Well lets just say i think your not exactly telling us the truth there . Look i can understanding you wanting to defend a game you like . Actually i ve defended this game a lot in these forums but if theres a problem it needs to be sorted and window mode is not running correctly on some machines . Thats a fact .
It would nt take Mythic long to write a program to easily allow you access to the setting from the start menu .Thats all that needs to be done here and the problems solved .
Sooner its reported and addressed sooner its mended .
Ok, so it seems I need to lay everything out for you, should I lay out the PCs being used as well. I live with 2 roommates, we got 3 desktops and 2 laptops, my laptop being over 4 years old, a Acer Ferrari 3200. When I first saw this arcticle, like a true tech support guy I am, I yelled at my roomies to load theirs and see. by the time I started to post more, we had all 5 running at once, going between window and full screen with no issues. And notice the time people complained, it may have been a issued address and fixed, just some people still feel that its unimportant to try any means of truely fixing the issue and rather do what this guy did and get on the forums, use his amendment rights of speech, flame the game, then WAA back to WoW, like a true Blizzard player. Heres the correct way. Get in the game, send in a appeal, or better yet, call tech support, which can be foudn on their website. Ask their tech support for help. Dont come here, WAAAing about it. And then say your leaving, cause you refuse to fix the issue and blame everything on Mythic. Funny how its 1 - 4 posts out of HOW MANY POST IN ALL FORUMS. This isnt a issue. ID 10 T error now on both of you guys.
hahaha in four mins you shouted at your friends tried all the different configs on 5 different pcs . do you all wait red suits with a lightening bolt on them and move almost at the speed of light :P admit it you ve been caught out . i m going back to lord of the rings as a subscriber in what reality did blizzard have anything to do with lotro ? lol . i think warhammer is a good game it just needs to sort out a few problems . this being one of them .
Hey, if your going to post my quotes, make sure you read it first. I said, I started testing things when I first saw the thread, so no, it didnt take me 4 mins. And this is a easy test. 5 PCs with 5 different configs is a good test. But since you have no technical background and rather try to pick a fight with me, then go back to LOTR, to bad, the people that work with LOTR also work with WAR. Both EA games and they share info and insight.
