I honestly just did the exact same thing, i logged into wow, and dear christ there was chat, with people looking for groups, instanced pvp, raids, and other various pve, RANGING FROM LEVEL 1-70 content.

As of now, WAR has NOTHING other than bad pve, no open RVR, and scenarios.

IMO if you want to grind scenarios, at least wow gives you some really awesome looking armor etc etc.

Thats my opinion of course, dont be offended.

BTW as the above poster mentioned, wow DID HAVE its serious problems at release as well.

However in general, i think wow was more..... "thought out" at the point of release.  They pointed the game in the direction they wanted it to go, and it went there.

WAR seems to have pointed war in the direction they wanted it to go, RVR, and it went in the direction of SCENARIO HELL.

    again.. just my opinion.

I play LOTRO and am loving it. Given that it has been out a while, you may find starter areas a little quieter than you are used to in WAR, but LOTRO gets an expansion on the 18'th with two new classes which will make the starter areas a little more busy.

If you like PVP, we have some exciting things coming out in the next expansion. I have found the PVP to be quite fun so far with a large realm for PVP battles and exciting keep battles.

I encourage you to find a kinship that suits your play style. A good kinship will really make tha game immensly more enjoyable.  If you start a character on Elendilmir feel free to add Nicoletta or Strida to your friends list. I'll be happy to give you some pointers.

I haven't played WAR, but some of my LOTRO friends left to try it and most have come back to LOTRO again. I kind of have the feeling from these people that WAR is a fun game to jump into for some instant action (kind of like Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2), but it can get boring after a while. Its good when played in conjunction with something else, but bland on its own. That is only the impression I have gleened from my friends who have played or are playing it- not something I can personally attest to.

Does anyone remember how buggy WoW was when it came out in 2004...OMG?  I do.  Constant crashing, unbelievable lag and many more.

War was extremely smooth when it was released.  Sure its got some issues, but not like WoW did when it was released.

Give this game a chance.  I am sure all these issues will be fixed over time.  I think War is refreshing and a refreshing change from WoW.   I am sticking with it.

You and I must have played different versions of  WoW at release. Server lag, yes (due to the insane amount of people trying to play). Crashes? Didnt have a single one myself.

WAR launch was indeed smooth (to most people). So was WoW (minus the server load). Both had bugs - none were gamebreaking (the "lootbug" was extremely annoying but was server load related). Imho - in comparison WoW still is, at launch, the most polished MMO ever released.

No, Im not a fan/hater of either game. I played both at launch.

Saddly I must agree, WAR was very polished when it was release much more polished than WoW, I love the concepts and I love the ORVR and its only been out for roughly 2 months, even so I agree with the OP, I see myself logging less and less everyday, its like something is missing the controls dont feel so responsive, the world feels too dark and disconnected.

Yesterday I installed WoW and decided to give it a go again with a few people from my guild and we just played all night doing PVP and goofing around, WAR is a great game but it still needs some work and thought around its mechanics maybe I'll come back in a month or so. This game wont die anytime soon if Mythic keeps up the patching and listening to the community.

Enjoy McWarcraft. See you in a month when you quit after discovering that large scale PvP in WoW is just as sucky as ever.

  • Drej_X_ArmyDrej_X_Army Member Posts: 151

there is no McWarcraft, Warhammer has been out for 20+ years, Blizzard tried buying Warhammer rights and failed, so they made Warcraft, stop saying Warcraft is anyway the true Warhammer, its not. Do some research and find the truth. And for polish, WoW copies off other peoples ideas and concepts, we all know this. WoW launch sucked, true some people didnt have a problem, but the issues WoW had was by far, larger then what WAR has. Plus, Mythic is actually fixing things, WoW took forever to do anything. The Customer Support is another issue, WoW - sucked, well when I asked for help, and WAR - had a great response and enjoyable experience. Something Sony or Blizzard never has had. alot of your points have no backing and are more flawed with conspiracy then any theroy. If you want to flame, bring some proof. I love a good debate, but I like some research and backing behind it.

The fact that War encourages you to do different things at once is great, jump into a scenario whilst in a PQ, finish a quest while in RvR it allows me to spread my focus without getting attached to one thing or getting bored. If you love exploring, this game definitely rewards you for it. Exploratinon is onereason why i'm not in T4 yet.
So I don't really get why you are getting bored or tired, there's definitely lots to do in WAR but I'm guessing you're one of the people who just shot straight to level 40 without stopping to smell the roses.

Doesn't sound like you do too much rose smelling yourself as you are worried about "being bored or tired" if you don't have the constant ADD attention switching ability that the game gives you...

Way to go. How to completely misconstrue a post and try to twist it to mean the opposite.

I have seen this mentioned many times, the "lootbug was server load related.

Bovine scatology, this happened on lower pop servers months down the road. So get off this server load kick.

Blizzard cut back and lower capped the rollout servers to try and squash problems, this helped somewhat but many problems were still there including server crashes. This also helped start the queue situation till they could get more servers online.

I played beta and launch so I guess we did play different versions, I played on 5 launch servers at launch, all had the same problems.

But, I enjoyed playing WOW and after some months it became much more stable so we played through the problems.

How about those times half  your raid would disappear in Molten Core and couldn't get back in?

It turns out, it was war. Lack of polish, lack of meaningful things to do (which I admit, WoW doesn't have much of either), and lack of fun were the main reasons why I canceled my subscription.
I STILL think war has the potential to be a great game, I just wish that mythic had spent more time polishing and testing the game.
I will probably come back in 3-4 months, when the new classes are released and people are getting a pretty good understanding of what works and what doesn't in war.
Till then its going to be Wotlk.

    OP.

You know whats funny, I actually did the same thing,,,although I didn't reinstall WoW,,,  NEVER GONNA DO THAT  "MY 70 ROGUE WILL NEVER BE RESURRECTED AGAIN"  Instead I reinstalled EQ2.  See, the reason I started playing MMO'S roughly 10 years ago was so I can interact with many people online at once in a fantasy themed virtual universe. Also, I enjoy a great storyline, exploring dungeons, raiding, etc. WAR just fell short in my eyes. I played it until level 25 before getting completely bored with the game. I thought once I hit the mid 20's, the game would get more better. I was wrong. It's just the same thing over and over again. The dungeons are nowhere near as fun and thrilling as in EQ2, Vanguard, and even WoW.  If Mythic spent more time in developing dungeons rather than focusing on adding 3 PQ's for each chapter, then maybe I'd enjoy the game more. PQ's are ok, but I'd much rather venture into a dungeon with a group of friends and defeat all the content inside rather than start a 15 man warband where EVERYONE is doing what they can to place first on the list for their chance of a purple or gold bag to drop. IMHO, THATS STUPID AND LAME

The PvP in WAR isn't bad, but if your running scen's with morons just trying to kill ppl rather than completing the objective, your overall gaming experience becomes frustrating. WAR is about relying on others to achieve your own goals. It's all about PvP or PQ's. Even the quests are worthless. Quests are thrown in just to amuse those that enjoy questing. All of them usually lead to PQ's in the area.

Sooo looong story short, I quit WAR and didn't play any MMO's for about a month. I honestly thought maybe it's just me getting bored of MMO's in general. So then I tried EVE and thats just not the game for me. I also tried AO, and well I cant play something that looks worse than the original Everquest. Then yesterday I reinstalled EQ2 and ran a few dungeons in SS like Sanctorium, Clefts of Rujark, and even raided Lockjaw! After a full day playing EQ2, I quickly realized I'm not getting to old for MMO's.. The problem was definitely WAR not being interesting and fun enough for me.

I have a personal preference when it comes to enjoying MMO's, and most of what I experienced in WAR just isn't for me. If WAR had massive dungeons like most fantasy MMO's, then maybe the game would be a little more enjoyable to me.

You have to realize that WAR never intended pve to be a big part of the game, while your opinion is agreed with, the game never meant to take that approach.

I think the lesson, then, is that you can't rely on pvp alone to keep people coming back for more in an MMO.  The problem isn't so much the lack of pve in WAR, but the haphazard way that Mythic implemented it in WAR.  It's just so dull and uninspired.

That sentence, i think, may be very true.

I still think that if the pvp was improved, given decent rewards, etc, it might be do-able.

You hit the nail on the head brotha. There's just no sense of freedom in WAR. I really wanted it to be my next home for years, but without elements I enjoyed in previous MMO's like EQ and EQ2, the game reminds me alot like CS. It's mindless, dull, and boring doing the same thing over and over.

What do you mean by no sense of freedom?  Just curious because it seems like you have things in other games as well.

Also, what game are you currently playing that doesn't have the same thing over and over again?

For the past week, ive logged on, flew to every T3 zone looking for some sort of OPEN RVR.  Only once in that week did i find it, and even then it only lasted 15-20 minutes, 30 absolute tops.

After my flights, i decide.. ok.. maybe a pq or quests can hold my attention for a while... So i do 2 quests, maybe a PQ.. then im bored, so there is about 20 -30 mins again..

Last and my least favorite, after my failed Open RVR findings, and boredom of questing, i say.. hey ill Que for a scenario. Of COURSE Tor Anroc pops, so i join, and play the scenario, on a really good day i can stand 3 scenarios.. Most days.. 1 and im sick of it, even if i win.

SO, even if all the 3 planets of WAR line up, (ORVR, questing/pq's, AND a good day in scenarios), were talking MAX 1-1.5 hours of mild enjoyment.

Currently i do that, then log onto wow and smite things, get honor, and alot of gold, which can be used to .... BUY things that are usefull.
