Pro's and Con's of WAR

Pro's

1. Paul Barnett & Jeff Hickman (Super hype machine)

2. It's Warhammer for anyone who has played table top game

3. Public quests in Tier 3 and 4

Con's

1. Graphics suck - old engine reborn (Yawn)

2. Sound - Horrible (Pushed out the door so fast the sound guys didn't even get a look in)

3. Quests - BORING

4. PVP - No consequence for dying what so ever and hence BORING

5. RVR - Empty RVR lakes (Area's) when they do fill up it lags like a bitch even on top end machines

6. Mark Jacobs

7. Scenarios - Believe it or not this game was actually going to launch with more emthasis on scenarios, oh wait that did actually happen lol - half way through beta people said "Hey there should be more emphasis on open RVR" - Mythic didn't listen, instead they added big keeps with NPC's guarding them!

8. Player numbers - dwindling since day one, WAR is not everywhere, well atleast in this game

9. Gear - OMG, everyone looks the same within each tier - Mythic really did mess up on this, want to know why? One of the major factors for playing a MMORPG for more than one month is that you get to hunt out new and exciting gear and then say to your friends "Hey check me out, look at my fat loot" There is NO fat loot in WAR.

10. Crafting - Mark Jacobs has his hand in on this bigtime and hence = FAIL. Example, Talisman making, wow it sounds so interesting doesn't it and to be fair it is as you can add stats to items. So whats the big problem? Well if you chose to reroll a crafting skill when your level 35 you can't pick talisman making as you will NOT be able to level it up as you will need low level items to grind it up through the levels. I can't comment on the others - but I'll assume that they also have this problem?

11. PVP servers - Mythic should have never made any PVP server because in effect all you're doing is taking away the very people who would have populated your RVR lakes (Area's) on the Core servers << This is plain stupid and thus you have the casual PVE players complaining about the lack of WAR"

12. Public Quests - Tier 1 and 2 are now empty on ALL servers and thus you won't be able to complete them

/End

I just ran a character through Tier 1 on Avelorn.  I did Open RvR as a Destruction all day against Order players.  When we weren't taking BOs we had scenarios popping constantly since about 8am.  And I finished every PQ for the first four chapters.  I was level 13, renown rank 12 (I did some Tier 2 scenarios) by the time I logged off in very little time.

Different servers have different populations I guess but I find it hard to believe that Tier 1 and 2 could be empty on your server.  No one is making new characters anymore?

I'll admit I enjoy my tier 4 character more, but Open RvR doesn't kick off there until later in the day so I usually do an alt if I'm playing morning/afternoon.

in my short time in WAR this is one thing I reckonned. should have had core servers only. I usually opt for pvp servers but there is just as much pvp in core, but in the areas make it more likely for world pvp to occur.

War has amazing classes, and a sweet RvR system, it has also picked up on a lot of innovative ideas.

Some of the main issues lie in the way the game has been sold:

Firstly huge emphasis was put on destruction, seriously everyone knows the devs don't care about order races, dwarfs where done well, but they are the least popular race in the game....

Now an RvR game just can't survive with the population imbalance that WAR suffers from, which is probably why scenario's became the big new fix that Mythic put into play in the hopes of distracting people.

Also some MAJOR bugs, ie WE procs on procs, which should have been fixed first thing when it was discovered are still being looked at.... The class is broken and stupidly OP/open to exploitation and they are just fixing it in 1.05 (maybe). I've seen WE solo even level champions without breaking a sweat (ie still over 50% health) on a WP a highly armoured class this feat takes a few minutes, not one and a half AP bars.

They are finally bringing out a new order tank, BUT they are bringing out another destruction tank too??

WTF! We all see the population imbalance, until its somewhere in the 40:60% region they shouldn't be touching destruction.

Questing is horrible, the exp rewarded is a joke. I literally refuse to quest past level 10, because I'd rather go outside and see if I can burn out my eyes looking directly at the sun.

I honestly feel for this game to succeed they need to spend time making order, more powerful (ie more balanced in relation to destruction mirror classes), more fun to play tank/healer roles, and just generally cooler. Cool attracts people in WoW there was different cool, there was alliance, cool looking sweetly designed classes. OR Horde the real 'warriors' that would rip you apart, and their characters look like it.

Destruction classes may not be more powerful than order classes (altho in most cases I beleive they are slightly so, mainly due to how most order skills are based upon destro skills gained 20 levels earlier, often without any mastery investments, and with lesser effects, longer cd's and horrible class synergy) but the mere fact that people prefer to play all the tank/healer classes on destruction means that, these being the most unpopular of the order classes, there is a huge imbalance in the whole game, especially since tanks/healers have the best synergy of classes, and mixing in a few dps into this makes it an awesome team, while order struggles to have more than a single healer per scenario, let alone a tank or two.

I hope WAR is fixed, but I played closed beta and the game was probably equal to WoW in almost all respects except polish and bugginess, and since then it has gone downhill, rapidly moving towards one of the lowest benchmarks of MMO quality, - Helbreath, (if anyone remembers it).

Mythic would have done better with a set of classes that all races chose from the same as WoW. Why???? Because they lack the maturity/honesty to employ people interested in both realms, and it is amazingly obvious in the game.

If they did a hotfix and I was told the game was being returned to its closed beta form, just before preview weekend (a fortnight or two before) I would be playing this game 101%.  Thats with 10x more bugs than now. But with 100x better gameplay.

    Generally agree with the OP.

The problem with gear is, usally most players dont like to look like a clone. Now you can solve this in two ways. A NON-gear centred games most have a ton of customizations, like in City of heroes, OR you must add lots of gear types like in WOW, but making neither is plain stupid. Dunno why they have no sensibility for that.

I would be hugely in favor of a system that let's you wear one gear set for the stats but let's you have a second gear set for visual purposes that you can use to override the looks of what you're wearing.

Sounds about right. Although the PvP isn't consequenceless really considering that you can wipe players from a place and hold the stand there thus winning - thanks to opposing team dying. More severe death penalty in such a zergfest encouraging game as WAR would simply be stupid, bad and make the game horribly boring. I'd say that the almost non-tactic requiring PvP is quite bad, and the zerg encouragement is boring. Not to mention that the most of the people in WAR are unable to grasp any tactic in PvP more complicated than zerg.

After playing this game since launch.  Not Before.

The games population really seems to be taking a dive.  The T1/T2 PQ's are usually empty,  theres maybe 5 people in most t3 zones.  I'm finding it really hard to continue to play with the lack of players on my server.

The question i want to ask is, why are there sooo many servers?  Ok I understand there are EU servers Oceanic servers.  But it looks like theres over 30 servers.  If mythic could condense these servers then I think there would be alot more action and fun in this game.

Overall I can feel this game getting very boring.  Grinding is Grinding.
