WOTLK release = DEATH for WAR.

One...  There has never been speculation that WAR will become a F2P game.  Link it or it never happened.

Two... WOTLK will not kill WAR.  PvP is uncharted waters for Blizzard.  I don't see them scaring Mythics proven RvR system.

Three...  Do some research.  Posting nonsense typically doesn't get you many fans.

Only by the mentally challenged. I havent seen a single thread around here speculating this.

Just hit level cap today with my main (rank 40) and there is constant action in open rvr and battlegrounds on my server. I would really recommend Phoenix Throne server(RP) if you give it a try, server is very well populated and teams are actually pretty balanced. You should try and find yourself a guild though, it makes all the difference.
Its true that you hear these strange horror stories from others about how bad it is on this board and i have a hard time believing most of them, its as if they are playing a different game, or maybe they are just fans of other games like WoW trying to spread misinformation. Oh well.
I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Ive been playing since january in beta, got the preorder and payed for 3 months. Still having a lot of fun. But like I said, its important you find some friends to play with, a good guild. This game is all about teamwork in rvr.
There are constant updates to the game based on player feedback and there will be some new classes added in december. Game is always improving so I have no doubts the game will be around for a while.

Its good to see a differening point of view - but 3 pages in a thread is not a majority.

I can only speak for myself - and on Win XP, Core 2 Duo 6600, 512M 3870 I havent had any crashes (apart from the flight bug they put in one patch).

LOL.. Sounds pretty gay to me, you might as well play toon town online if you think a gnome deathknight is the shit, sounds about your maturity level anywaysl. Have fun leveling your DK gnome to 80, the faster your off the WAR forums the better.

As much time you waste constently on the WAR forums and harass this game, I guess you got no life at all and should pick up a new hobby, oh wait, you got WoW expansion next week. I expect to see you more on this WAR forum when your expansion arrives, cause literally, you got way too much time on your hands.

WoW will be a hit for about 1 month and it will be the same bullshit like TBC, grinding arena's and doing the same BG with no real type of consequence. I give props for WoW for what it is, but anyone from the age bracket of 5 and up can play that game.

WoW wont kill WAR as much as you would like it too, but hate to break the news to you, seems like both will be around feeding off each other for months to come.

    Currently Playing: AO and FE.

B - Is there anyone actually left to play with?
C - If I do go ahead and buy, does anyone have a server to reccomend? (I prefer RP)

A - Who knows. EA has pulled the plug on MMO's within the first year before. Remember Earth and Beyond?

B - At the lower levels.. not so much. At the higher levels.. probably not by the time you get there.

C - Pick one with a high population.

A-I don't think it's that bad yet but Wotlk and patch 1.1 could sink the game fast and the only people who can't see that are the hardcore fanbois + the games on it's last legs in the EU arleady.

B-This game always felt empty and it's only got worse over the last few weeks.

C-I can't really comment on the US but EU wise your out of luck most of the servers are just about dead there's a few with a spark of life left but I think Wotlk will put an end to that.

  • ThearixThearix Member Posts: 26

I don't understand where you people get your facts from. So many of you claim the game is dead and that it'll only get worse and worse.

Funny enough I play on EU servers (3 diff. servers) and I don't see the big "loss of population" that you're all proclaiming. Furthermore did you tards that claim all servers ain't full/full anymore consider the fact that when raising the server cap which Mythic and GOA was doing several times after launch actually moves the percentage down? Meaning 2000 people that before meant High is most likely just Medium now. Think with your heads and not your arses. It's common logic - and before you go screaming - Blizzard did the exact same shit and alot of servers went from high to medium on prime times. Should I start claiming how they lost several millions players there alone? Hardly cause I doubt they did, and actually since I play both WAR and WoW I don't want to cause guess what... I enjoy both games without having a need to non-stop bash one like many of you people.

Go play your game and stay clear of games you don't like. If it makes you feel better that you can bash a game you don't like, you should really see a shrink. They could help you to a new level of mental awareness.

Have you played WoW? If yes then ask yourself a question - did you like BGs? Because this is all you are going to do in WAR. Same BG over and over again. The only difference - you get exp and loot there. Yes, formally, you can do other things but since nobody is interested in them (and for a reason), the only source or amusement is BGs (Scenarios). If this is your fun - go for it (but ONLY on the server with FULL or at least HIGH population level.

I agree that people should keep their opinions to themselves under normal circumstances. However, this guy is outright asking for people's opinions so that he can draw his own conclusions. You should not be so protective simply because there are more negative responses than positive.

I love WoW and put up with it being continuously trounced in these forums, but I know I like it and that's all that matters.

Absolutely. It's all in how much they choose to expand the game and how good they are at balanceing and patching. Which so far is far superior to most I've seen.
B - Is there anyone actually left to play with?
I play on one of the most populated servers on the European realms and I'm currently at end-game (tier 4). There are not as many people as I'd hope there to be but there are people around for most the stuff you wanna do.
C - If I do go ahead and buy, does anyone have a server to reccomend? (I prefer RP)
Play on US servers. If not, just choose a server with the most amount of players

...you used MMORPG.com as research? You really should go to WarhammerAlliance.com where a majority of the 'real' Warhammer population exists.  People say negatives and positives all the time without all the lies, misconceptions, and BS trolling you see here.  OP if your serious about researching WAR you'll ignore 75% of everything you read here from the forum posters.  MMORPG.com is the biggest crybaby troll community on the planet the few of us that do post here and are reseasonable are few and far.   And by reasonable I mean people who don't speak alot of hater aid or fanboy aide.

I won't sit here and give you my opinion of WAR, I'll just say I've been playing since late Beta and I'm still having a good time and in six months I'll still be playing it.  Of course ther eare things that could be better but you know what?  That happens with every single MMO that ever comes out.

btw to the poster that said the Renown System is broken your full of shit.  The renown system is not broken it never has been its been working since last year.

I'm not trying to be protective really. I'm enjoying both WAR and WoW and I (apparently one of the few people who use MMORPG.com) actually would love to see both games prosper and be good games. And yes he asked for opinions however people could keep it to a normal level when replying to question like that instead of seeing this as a possible "woo we get to flame WAR now o/" post... which unfortunately it became very fast.

I'm undecided whether to resub for another month, I have a level 20 DoK, 18 WH and 18 Eng.

PvE is repetative and there's hardly anyone there. PQs are always the same - stage 1 is kill 100+ normal mobs, stage 2 kill 4-6 Champions, stage 3 is kill the hero. It rarely changes -  and as there's rarely anyone else playing you get to repeat stysge 1 several time spreading it out over the 3 PQs in each chapter. (I've done Tier 1 and 2 in the Greenskin, dark Elf, Empire and Dwarf areas).

Scenarios are repetative also and the gind gets tedious if you paly them constantly.

Open RvR, there isn't any at lower tiers.

So, the choice is yours, if you're looking for good PvE, it's not here... if you're looking for open RvR, look elsewhere... if you want a Scenario grind, this may be the game for you...

    To the OP:

I don't see why you can't give WAR a try. I think it will still be alive and kicking even after WotLK's release. Just be sure to choose a healthy population server whether you are going US or EU version. If it's EU and you don't mind English, then I recommend Karag Eight Peaks. Better ask someone else about the US servers.

Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC.

    1. In answer to your first question I think it definitely will. While no game is perfect out the gate, Mythic is being very responsive and doing what they can do address both content and player population issues.

    2. Tricky question. As a PVP centered game, WAR is dependent on player population balances to ensure "content". This has proved difficult to balance at launch but Mythic has been consolidating servers and allowing character transfers to help address the issues. I think it is a temporary thing at best but I would look to start on one of the high pop destination servers to improve your odds.

    3. I would recommend the Chaos Wastes server which is Open RVR and RP. While RP is only as good as the people you play with, I can' t imagine having an RP focus on a server that doesn't allow me to bash stunties anywhere that I find them.
