They provide a quick and easy way for someone to get in a group where you know you aren't going to be totally outleveled/outnumbered and start PVPing. That's what I want from a game (the PVP combat part especially). I have other beefs with WAR but they basically got scenarios right (more variety than WoW) even if they aren't perfect. Who wants to grind MoBs to get xp? Who thinks that fighting other factions over hunting ground access rights is what PvP should be about? Who thinks that running level 20 pvp quests are cool in areas where level 30s go just to gank the level 20s trying to do their pvp quests?

That's the problem with scenarios..they made them TOO accessible. People are ignoring the rest of the game because they are so easy.
Mindless zombie grinding of scenarios, meh. I would not be dissapointed if they removed them completely.
The problem is that they're making the rest of the actual game world empty and boring. Most importantly, they're killing world RvR, which is suppose to be the main feature of this game.
Again, we all saw how Battlegrounds killed WoW's world PvP, I personally don't want to see that happen with WAR.

It already did.. it will only get worse over time as more and more of teh ADD kids get to max rank they can stand and then re-roll... and want to do something that no one that has the stomach to stick it out wants to do again participates in world RvR...
I agree Scenario's are killing this game for me, some time's they are fun other time's they are just an annoyance with ppl either not knowing what to do or are just plain old crap, but then spend more time in Scenarios then what i do in the actual game world just to be able to keep up with everyone else.
I like the game it is Fun but am finding myself logging in less and less for this reason alone i think because i bought the Game to play in the Warhammer Universe but find my self in some Generic Scenario 80% of the time i play, may as well go and play Gunz, or Fury if it were still alive.
Scenarios are amazingly boringly designed. The most complicated tactic in T1-T3 scenarios is to go around and cap a capture point behind opposing team. The scenarios are dumbed down as much as possible and even so the people playing WAR are in most cases unable to grasp any tactic that includes doing more than charging into opposing team.
...you must nto of played Talabac Dam or Troll Crossing.....the capture point ones are the most simplistic of all of them besides the murder ball ones. Talabac Dam and Troll Crossing are nothing like those. What else do you think there should be in a fucking Scenario I mean honestly its a mini game how many Mini Games are heavily complicated?
hopefully the halloween event is a decent indication of what the RvR lakes will be like after 1.1 Patch where they add more things to do into the RvR lakes like PQs etc. They should of done it from the beginning but atleast it seems to draw people away from the scenarios since they get phat loots *rolls her eyes*
I don't understand the complaints about 'mindless zombies grinding scenarios'. Did you ever stop to think that we enjoy the PvP in scenarios? It's fast paced, more challenging then PvE, provides better gear, and fair XP. It's not all about min/max and the fastest way to level cap.
Some people feel that your liking of scenarios are ruining the way they prefer to play. They are calling for changes to benefits to make orvr more attractive and/or to kill off scenarios. Some people asked for server without scenarios.
Killing off scenarios could end up being this games NGE.
Scenarios are pretty fun if you play them in moderation and take a little time to organise some RvR with the guild. The only problem is that you always end up playing the same one over and over again (Tor Anroc )
Doesn't matter which scenario it is of if I am winning or losing - after running about 3 scenarios in a row I get super bored with them.
TBH I dont see much difference in grinding mobs or players in scenarios.
I do like doing the PVP quests in the lakes - but (sadly) rarely ever see anybody in them while doing them.
No one that argues against the Scenarios is arguing against them because of the PvE they argue because people go and play the Scenarios and ignore the central core to the game which is the RvR lakes. Scenariso do NOT give better gear they simply give you some meager RP points to up your Renown Ranks which is how you buy the RvR gear. Its not even the better gear. The better gear only drops in the RvR lakes from taking keeps or killing players (you won't find gear set peices dropping in the Scenarios except maybe on a super extra rare occasion) . You also get double the xp & RP points.
In the Scenarios the final RP you get at the end of the game is dependant on your win. If you win with 500 points you get the full RP worth of the scenario. If you win but only by running out of time you only get a fraction of the RP points. If you lose you get a fraction according to the points your team did accumulate. In RvR lakes if you take an objective you get 300 - 600 points depending on the Teir (my numbers may be off folks) after you defend the point for 2 - 3 mins you get an addtional 300 - 600 points plus now you get XP as well. Thats way more than youll ever get farming shitty scenarios. Keeps are worth even more and the longer you hold them off / defend them from the enemies the more RP you accumulate every so many mins and I believe even XP now you get
Scenarios were meant to be a fun past time and something for the casuals to do but MOST people who are the min max grinders and want to get to end game regardless of all the content & gear they're missing out on are playing nothing but scenarios. I can see some people's reasoning behind it the RvR lakes can be esspecially dull because its huge open spaces with nothing going on unless there's a huge constant siege like in Avelorn (on some servers). Hopefully the RvR lake activities they're adding will make it less dull and the gear they're adding for just the lakes is actually worth th ework.
As halloween showed the only reason people will go to the lakes on a constant basis is if there's something more to do then just seige.
Don't get me wrong - I love the open RvR when it's working, but it's rarely working. Keep Seiges are over before the other side gets a chance at defending, it's rarely balanced as we usually steamroll Order simply becuase we have more players, so it's not really a challenge.
If the Open RvR was supposed to be the focus (which is what I've always heard and wanted) then they didn't put enough work into it. Scenarios are polished, designed to be competitive and fast paced. Open RvR is either poorly thought out or randomly generated terrain thrown into the middle of a zone with some objectives and the expectations that it'll work. I've run around an empty RvR lake, held by Destro without seeing a soul, joined a Scenario and by the time that 15 Min is up the keeps and all the BO's have swapped.
There are no tools to encourage a balanced fight, no chance at a warning to gather defenders, so by the time you confirm that the 'Keep Lord is under attack' message is legit, the first doors are down. The advantage is too heavily in the favor of the attackers. Every siege I've been a part of, a full warband is through 2 sets of doors before 6 Order can gather to keep us out, and I play on a High pop server.
I think I'd love to see a 'Queue for Open RvR'. When a full warband or two on each side is ready, drop one at their warcamp, and one at their keep. Notify everyone via server messages when the attack is scheduled to start with enough notice to gather, as well as estimates on numbers for each side. Allow respawns / instant travel inside the keep, and with the short travel distance for the attackers, it might actually be a fun fight.
As it stands now, I can either run around for half an hour with nothing to challange me or jump into a scenario and lose as often as I win. Can you blame me for wanting to actually play?
Adding a Queue wouldnt' fix the issue for defenders infact it would be down right discouraging in the end for the attackers. Why bother spending time to organize yourselves when you know a massive pug of defenders could just zoom right in from no where. IF people really want to defend they would already have people there as look outs but they don't...because other than personal glory there's no real reason to bother defending except at T4 where its necessary unless you want to be shut out of End Game.
Lets face it most people do NOT want to defend. I have several members in my destruction guild that won't even show up to defend despite the entire guild getting together. Quite frankly they made a miss step with the Open RvR lakes by not putting in more incentives. Defenders get some points while Attackers get PQ loot rolls, xp, and RP. Honestly who wants to defend when you know if you let them take it you can fight for it back and get loot? I go regardless but I know more would show up if the monatary rewards were there.
If they'd of never originally designed the game around scenarios we wouldn't have this issue. Up until this time last year it was a scenario based RvR game but the reaction to that from testers was incredibly negative so they took down the beta for a month and added in the RvR Lakes with Keep Sieges and reduced Scenarios worth then finished designing the end game around the RvR Lakes and Fortresses.
Alot of people have gotten fed up / impatient and thats understand able but at the sametime we should atleast give Mythic credit for what patch 1.1 could mean for RVR lakes. RvR PQ's like the halloween event being added to the lake, more gear, more rewards...god I hope its something good otherwise people will keep stickign their head in the sand and only attacking. People keep crying...patience is a virtue...but its obvious most MMO gamers especially thsoe that dont' read the Warherald, VNboards or WarhammerAlliance have very little patience or virtue.
It'd just be nice to know that those that claim to grind scenarios because nothing else is happening were telling the truth. I've put out Open Party invites, I've called for reinforcements, hell I've called for starting roving warbands because I knew people were in the lakes and I wanted to take the objectives and do the quests but you know what? None of you Scenario mother frakers showed up or even replied and I damn well know you can see the Region 1 Chat log in Scenarios.
If it wasnt for scenarios WAR would have been dead in the water after the first month. Most around here spew their garbage about how the game isnt how they remember older mmos. Times have changed people, players dont want to wait around just to be zerged by the overpopulated side
