Can I create a Death Knight if I haven't played WoW before?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but there's a rumor that you have to have a level 70 character before you can make a death knight when Lich King releases.
Is this true?

no. you must have a level 55 character to create a Death Knight.
Yes, as you need to do level 70 quests to Unlock the character...

No, you have to have a character atleast level 55 though.

They changed it a little after they said you had to be 70, believe it was around 1-2 months afterwards.
Yea.....They changed that a long time ago. You just have to have a lvl 55 toon to create a death knight.
yup need a 55 toon to make one but most people won't roll one. Blizz made the class hard to play to deter to many from rolling this class. Don't need more of them then rogues rofl.
unless things change from beta when expansion launches

all DK professions start at -zero- .. except First aid and weaponskills which start at 270

do you still have to complete a series of tasks to open this class or just roll one?
You just create one and then you do a series of "death knight only" quests.
I'm gonna wait till the buzz wears off ,of the Deathknight class..when WOTLK releases there will be thousands of DK's running around ,Questing,complaining..etc.The when all the excitement is over..i'll start playin ..but yes as long as you have a Lvl 55 char on any server you can roll a DK..think im gonna play an Undead DK..
