I would not hold my breath for the game to go free. No matter what you read on these forums a good amount do enjoy the game and will continue playing it for years to come. Also if for some reason there was not enough people playing the game for them to continue making a profit it more than likely would shut down since they would have to do a complete overhaul of the game to make it work with a free to play model.
It is far to early in Warhammer to start talking about free to play. Just a guess, but I suspect we would first see Mythic laying off staff and things of that nature before a major changing in the pricing of the game. Not that I know how they would make money by simply making it free to play, but that is another topic.
I also think it is to early to say that "enough people are enjoying the game to play it for years to come". Enough is somewhere around 250k according to Mark and the game is still to young to know how long it will captivate a large audience.

Step one already underway, merging of servers and free character transfers of totally dead servers a month into launch. tells you everything about the overhype and bullshit spewed by mark jacobs and that bafoon paul barnett.
You're right, it does tell you everything. Like the fact that they could care less what opinionated, witless, negativity mongers think, and they're more dedicated to making the game more enjoyable, regardless of the doom-crys from haters. Everything.
Just checked Xfire and WAR is now down to 11th and 28000 hours. about 2 weeks ago it was around 45000. Does this mean anything? Who knows but after the initial PQ's and scenario buzz wore off after 2 weeks the game has nothing.

That only calculates time from people who have xFire up and running while they're playing, I know a lot of people who don't even like xFire, and more still that have it, but shut it down when they're playing a game because it tends to mess up their game.
Just checked Xfire and WAR is now down to 11th and 28000 hours. Im fat and gay and put all my opinion into some shit piece of software to tell me how well a game is doing, but about 2 weeks ago it was around 45000 so yes this does mean xfire is rite because it was built to rate games. Does this mean anything to anyone who actualy gives a shit about my stupid gay opinion which has been said about 500 times on these forums? Who knows but after the initial PQ's and scenario buzz wore off after 2 weeks the game has nothing and i joined the gym.
what did you expect? all 750k buyers to keep playing war? Many of them went back to wow after 1st month or less. The rest of us still enjoy this GREAT game and i say THANK YOU mythic and goa for the free transfers. Now go play open rvr in the new wow zone and who knows? maybe on the next wow expansion they put pq's as well

I bet more people will play in the open pvp zone in Wrath than the people that ORvR in WAR........ Scenarios are the splinter in the side of WAR and the reason why so many people are quitting. If they get rid of scenarios I will go back for sure.
WAR is a joke of a game. It is garbage, pure garbage.
war is a good game, people just like to cry (like you). enjoy your forumpvp.
War is clearly a little game with no ambitions of depth or engagement or commitment or even any sort of "thinking", completely out of place in it... it's aimed at light entertainment (VERY light) to chill out for 1/2 an hour after work.
So it's NOT a good game for ME, it's EXTREMELY shallow.

I highly doubt it. The game will close before they make it free to play. Production values were far too high to make it free to play.

War isn't doing anywhere near that bad and I think EA would shut the game down long before it got that bad.

-Currently looking forward to FFXIV
-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda
if eqoa has yet to go f2p, then there is no chance ever for war to go f2p.

Why would people have any reason to 'cry' about it if it were a good game?
