and another thing...

...why the hell are there no official war forums for me to air my grievances? They said they would rely on third party vendors for their forums what a bunch of cheapskates and NOT very customer focused. Why should I have to reregister my details on a load of other websites with mutliple logins when I could have just used my war details (already entered) to post on the official forums?!? It's a big in joke for me and my friends...'we can post about this on the official forums'....yeah the official forums that don't exist.

Secondly what's with this 'our open group option is much better than an LFG system'...utter tosh!! While it 'may' work on heavily populated realms on my realm where people are scarce it's hopeless. What if I'm in chaos lands but want to see if there is a group in Mount Gunbad...I have to make the effort to fly to that zone then ride the long distance to get to Gunbad only to find it empty. However if you went round all the tier 3 zones you might get enough of a group to do it but this means physically going round all the zones and shouting for more people....and this is better how?!?  Also when me and my buddies are running we sometimes forget to close the party, we go and do some quests, wander into a PQ area and some poor soul joins us in the hope we are doing the PQ and it then falls to us to dash their hopes. You should be allowed the ability to specify what your open party is for i.e. doing random quests, PQ's, RVR without it changing all the time dependant on where you are. Also allow people to see all open groups in the whole tier not just the zone so people can see there is an open group in mount Gunbad.

Sorry for ranting here, I would have posted on the offcial forums...

Because they learnt from the Beta Forums.

They had to virtually censor them due to the sheer amount of criticism.

Surely they didn't want to deal with 700K incensed customers after release..................

  • LasastardLasastard Member Posts: 604

that's been dealt with here before, like a million times.

Mythic never had official forums and it worked very well for DAoC. They have their means of communicating with their players, for example feedback forms ingame. They have constant updates on their website and some of them, including Jacobs, post regularly on the most popular WAR fan forums (IGN, etc).

So I think their means of communication with their players are adequate, no need for another forum...

    OP :

Read the comments Mark Jacobs made why he hated forums and why he thinks they can make or break a game. Silly really, since that other popular game is always killed by a bunch of people here.

In my opinion, it is the only reason why some of the guys here promote WAR by telling beautiful tales of milk and honey. They are marketing the game into the 7th heaven. You coud recognise them on the spot.

Btw if you doubt this theory: just look at the ratings War had before and during launch on this site from its "members". Yes I know, now we are stuck with them. The ratings I mean.

Ok so we'll mark that down as they would rather we all registered on different forums and waste our time rather than make it easy for the customer.

OK what about the 'open party' thing has that been answered by another 'we are great we don't need to listen to you' post?

I think Mythic misread MMO players from today as compared to the past.  DAOC/EQ both used community forums on popular gaming network sites, because MMOs were in their infancy back then.

There is just to much competition now with various news and info sites for people to be expected to congregate on their own.  A lack of a central forums for players to easily recognize hurts the community of a game, just Mythic and many players cried that zone wide chat would ruin the game with barren style talk all day long.  Low and behold the game was suffering without it and it has helped a game that is highly dependent on a strong community and communication.

Sure people act like jackholes on forums, but there is plenty of great reading and information shared.  I still think Mythic made a mistake in not making official forums.  Times have changed since DAOC Vault and Mythic hasn't.

IMHO Mythic has made a lot of terrible choices when it concerns player to developer and player to player communication choices with this game.  They sound great on paper, but in execution it is awful.

Isn't Warhammer Alliance the unofficial 'official' WAR community forum?

From past posts, that seems to be where MJ and co spend the most time.

    Could be wrong though.

Nah the VN boards are about as "official" as they get.

  • TheSheikhTheSheikh Member Posts: 804

WA and VN are the unofficial "official" boards. I prefer using Warhammer Alliance, but there are alot of people on the VN boards as well. Take your pick and voice your opinion, a dev will most likely be listening from the shadows.

    Dead horse alert

Warhammeralliance has the forums you need. If they don't satisfy you nothing will. Not even official ones. So stop beating the poor corpse now

MJ said that the people who post at Warhammer Alliance were to mean and they made him cry. So, he posts almost soley at the VN boards cause they talk softly and use "happy" words

Sure, WHA is just great if you don't mind kissing major Mythic ass. The moderators on WHA delete posts and issue infractions and bans like there's no tomorrow. If you are going to write a post that's critical of the game, or especially if it's critical of Mark Jacobs, you better be VERY careful with your words. I got banned for pointing out his deceptive spin in the "70% retention rate" post he made. All I said that was anywhere close to "objectionable" was "Mark Jacobs is full of spin and little else these days."

    Bam. Banned.

Just say "edited for content" to anyone familiar with WHA, and you will get a laugh.

Mythic's decision not to have official forums is comically bad, and makes them look as if they don't WANT everyone in one place exchanging information. It makes them look like they have something to hide and/or want to avoid directly addressing customers.

The in-game feedback system is not the same. They never reply to it, and there's no way for the customer to know anyone ever read it. There is also no form when you cancel asking why you are leaving. All in all, the impression I got as a customer was that they did not care about my opinion and didn't want to hear it - even if I was leaving.

Just from reading this thread you can see there is a lot of confusion on where to read and post about Warhammer and if a dev might actually have a chance of reading it.  Not to mention how strict one forum might be over another.  Also keep in mind people on these forums tend to be a little more up to date about issues and announcements in MMOS and there is still confusion.

Zone wide chat was a dead horse issue also, but that sure changed didn't it?

Yeah WHA is pretty harsh with the moderation, altough nothing like the AoC forums in their heyday. I like the fact that WHA has 'The Volcano' where all the flame, troll and asshat threads get tossed.

Can you imagine it... a forum you actually have to keep up your manners at?

I think WHA is all fair so far. Can't talk for everyone else but I still see tons of cra* attitude posting all over the boards and it doesn't seem to be too harsh punishing for those who do since I see "trolls" from day one still exist today and with no fractions.

It's very simple, just behave, unlike any other forum where it's pretty much FFA to be an idiot.

And in-game support I see too much cra* being thrown at. Nobody reads them? Then how come every time I send a report I get a mail that states that they have read it and will be looking into it if necessary?

I have talked to game-masters numerous times about many different bug reports and feedback information. So you'r gonna have to try harder to convince me that they never listen or read anything.

I think it's one BIG load of bull**** and whine from you guys about their customer support and their listening skills. When they do listen and change something all people can have brains to say is "Heeey but what about MY issues!?"

And the difference in the end from official and non-official forums is so minimal it's stupid to even discuss.

I bet they gather even better information for this game than most others even with their oh so pretty official forums. They have people responding in threads here and there anyways and just because they do so in official forums does NOT mean they listen any more. Such forums have specific people sometimes who only stay at the forums and can't do much else. While here we have Mark himself in the forums debating and testing out what people say.
