Pfsh... when will people learn "there is no such thing as a free lunch". This is just another hoax!
I dunno why people always rejoice in games which are free to play. It ALWAYS mean totally inferior games, support and since it catches freeloaders of the worst kind also terrible playerbase. I vividly recall GW, at least on the German servers it was the worst trash talk and sex was the topic 80% of the time. Sure it looked nice but it had as much substance like a toast. Dunno why people expect things from this vaporware game, cheaply and OBVIOUSLY compying WOW minus all content. Are the P2P all THAT pathetic that we cling to freeloader games??
Trust me, AAA titles cost a monthly fee for a REASON, not because the folks running those games are genuinely evil or greedy.
What do you people think about Runes of Magic? Including graphics, sound etc. Are the graphics better then Wow or...?
Very similar to WoW in almost every aspect. But IMO, i don't like it because the quests are horrible, the design is not what i had hoped for and the steering feels a bit stiff.
But for a free MMO, i think it's okey. It's easy to compare everything to WoW these days (not to mention a game like this), but we have to try to see each game with new, fresh eyes. But it's hard, very hard.
IMHO its pretty darn good for F2P. In fact its better then some P2P games so far. Its a bit weak in the graphics area but what F2P isn't? Its grindy roots do show through a bit. It also reminds me wayyy to much of WoW. I know some of you don't want to hear that but thats my opinion.
I was very surprised at the amount of customization. Way better then the game it mimics. I also like that rune system for your items.
Could use a few races aside from human though. Bah its free, can't b*tch to much. In any event, looks like it will be worth playing around with on a rainy day.
Unfortunately for P2P subscription models (and I don't really have a issue with either model) F2Ps are improving at a frightening pace.
With the P2P market putting out sh*t like AoC, I see that model having some serious issues in the coming years if they don't wake the f*ck up and start making some quality games.
Hey, at least this game works...more then poor AoC can say at launch. They are STILL working on the basics with that game while people are paying monthly fees for features not even ingame yet. What a shame.
As a fan of F2Ps, I am pretty excited about this game. And like Torek said,F2Ps are improving at a freightening rate. It's like in the future, you canmake these games in your home.
I have played WoW on my friends account and I have all the Guild Wars campaigns. I actually dont mind the similarities of wow, although I'm sure WoW player think it stinks.
Even though I dont have the RoM game (I need the key), looking at the features and player reviews, I'm pretty sure this is the best F2P game out there. And I've never heard of a game this close to the best MMO I've been searching for.
I have downloaded and tried TONS of free downloadable games, and the ones that stand out from the others are: Rubies of Eventide, and Perfect World. So I'm pretty excited about this game and I hope it would be rewarding.
I like the idea of your personal house and dynamically moving objects around it. It makes me think of gaming taking a step forward to making an Elder Scrolls MMO. But then I don't expect it to be perfect, but at least as good or better than the best F2P mmos I've played.
I logged in last night and played 5 hours solid which should give you some indication of what I think of this game.
It is VERY similar to WoW in many respects; classes, art style, music, items etc. If you don't like WoW I'd advise that you don't touch it with a barge-pole. However, IMHO it's going to be the best F2P on the market. It even does some things better than WoW (although to many this won't sound like much). It also has player housing which is a major bonus from a personal perspective.
My only concern is that with this game being a F2P that the community is going to suck on release. I've already seen some ridiculous names running around even in CB. I really hope it doesn't as I'll be playing this right along side WoW.
This is the best FTP game out there. The graphics are like WoW but I understand that with it game being FTP that the WoW engine is a good and simple engine to use to get a good graphic quality. This game is going to take over the FTP Market. Dont sleep
What do I think? I think that RoM is going to be one of the best -if not the best- F2P games to ever come along. If all goes well, maybe this game will even stand up against some of the P2P games out there (it wouldn't be THAT hard considering how crappy some of the subscription based games are these days...).
i play in beta and i can tell you its good but not great. it really is just a heavily watered down version of WoW with a twist that you can multiclass which isnt as good as one may think. Though to f2p its at the top with atlantica and will stay so.
I tried the Closed-Beta now. But before I tried the game, I didn't believe the guys when they said it was a WoW clone. But after I played it, I saw what they meant. Almost every aspect of the game including layouts and questing is very similar if not the same to WoW.
I still love the game however since it's Free and it should reign over all other F2P games. I think it would rock and can't wait for the opening release.
So far this game looks too much like Guild wars. i wounder if this will be better or worse. what do you guys think?

The only thing I can think of that this game has in common with Guild Wars is that there are no playable races aside from humans. Aside from that fact, this game has as much in common with Guild Wars as trampled puppies do to footwear. I don't know what that means, either. I do know that Runes of Magic is more similar to vanilla World of Warcraft than any other game, though.
That isn't necessarily a bad thing. If the developers can capture what made the original World of Warcraft great, as opposed to the disastrous Burning Crusade and beyond, then they could be looking forward to having a lot of players.

My machine meets the minimum reqs, with everything turned down you still get some framerate loss in any of the "villages" in the newbie area. I'd call them towns but they are simply villages with a handful of NPC's. Leveling is alright I guess, at least for the first 10 levels. Questing is the only real way to gain money, mobs don't drop any and the low level loot doesn't sell for much. At least, so far.
I can't figure out if it's a damn German game or Asian. The entire main site is German (not counting the English version). The site to signup and subscribe is in German, but quite a bit of things in-game are in Asian fonts. I love getting some rare or magical item, that is described in Asian font characters o_O And sadly the few people I saw chatting in General Chat, were speaking German.
The newbie area is nice, straight forward. Tad small, but to the point. Sadly there seems to be almost no one on, that I saw. Sure you see a few people here and there but they aren't exactly 30,000 people that are supposed to have been inducted in the last two months.
I might play it some more but the low FPS is gonna be a bother as I get farther in. I can already tell the first big city is gonna be a slideshow.
For me it's not quite there yet. Some parts look very nice but other parts look as if they were beaten to death with the blurry-stick-of-awesomeness. Also it feels...clunky. Not as bad Lineage 2 did, but kinda like that. Feature wise it has a lot of neat stuff copied from other games. I wish it were a P2P
Do you mean you wish to pay for this game over the free feature? :P

To those that said the graphics in this are better than any other F2P, I differ with that opinion. Requiem and PW have better graphics.

I think it's pretty decent.
i like the dual class system. it looks like a decent game...graphics...no way are they on WoW's level.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
It is a very shallow game and feels very korean, it's a no for me
