I know you can gain experience by crafting (duh!) but I've notice that I've gained some experience in canon crafting but I've never attempted to craft that equipment (don't have an artillery). I believed I've read that you can also gain some experience by teaching but all my crafting are still below 11 so I haven't taught anyone yet (I believe you can only teach if your already lvl 11 or above which also qualifies you to be an artisan... right?). So, my question, is there any other way you can gain experience in crafting besides the actual crafting of the item or by teaching it?

Yes, there are a total of 4 ways to gain experience for a craft:
1. Regular crafting - Killing things or autocrafting - 1 exp per 50 workload
2. Training - 100 exp for lvl 1, 500 2-10, 800 11-20, 1000 21-30, 2000 31-40, 3000 41-50, 5000 51-??
3. Dismantling - you get exp for a craft if you dismantle that item (this is probably how you got your exp). You have to have level 1 for that craft to get exp this way. I'm not sure how much exp you get for each kind of thing dismantled =
4. Guild Crafting - Killing things while a Guild Craft is going and you have no personal craft going. Need to have lvl 1 in the craft. 1 exp per 100 workload.
Thanks for this info I really need it
There is a book too, that instantly gives you 1000, I can not recall the books name, but my mentor gave me a bunch of them,
I know I looked in the Market for them to see what the cost would be, but can not find it, hMmm never thought of doing a item search and see what , or if they were a crafted book
I think the book you refer to is the brown leather bound looking book that gives you crafing point towards completing a crafting job. They come in 100, 1000, and 10,000 that I have seen personally. You can also trade with Goncourt a certain number for a single larger denomination as you can with XP books.
Best thing I found was I had 2 of the 10,000 craft point books and when I started on my beaker quest from that guy outside of Athens - it is like 180,000 points to finish and it gave me 20k right away using the books but alas the rest came from autocraft and the occassional 1000 point books when I noticed my will was back up.
Yes, the crafting books give you workload towards a personal craft.
Small Crafting Secrets - 100 workload
Normal Crafting Secrets - 1,000 workload
Artisan Crafting Secrets - 10,000 workload
Master's Book - 100,000 workload
All require 10% will to use.
i hate crafting.. hahaha i dont like doing this, i just do this if its required in the quest hahah i think theres only a little experience gain when crafting, haha or you get additional exp by fighting the mobs for the workload?

Why dont you try to craft cannons to gain exp then just sell them for gold.. use crafting books to speed the job or try doing them on guild crafting so all of your guildmates can contribute for the work load.. if you become an apprientice, post msgs that u can teach that certain skill so u can get extra EXP aside from crafting ^^;
