Ok, just to set this straight.

You are talking about one player, basically exploiting his guild to get to 80.  He didn't quest, he didn't enjoy any instances.  He just ran around tapping mobs while his guild ran behind him and killed them.

If you do the quests, run instances whle you level up.. it will probably take most players about a month to get to 80.

But you see, that is the error.. once you are at 80, you still have about 20 dungeons to do, a ton of daily quests and reputations,  bgs and arena, not to mention 10 or so raids.

Getting to 70 is not the end of the game.. it is only the beginning of the majority of the content.

This is how idiotic rumors spread. You heard from someone else who heard yet from another person... etc. etc. And each of you added something from yourself to the rumor. GG

They did't kill Lich King, he isn't even in game yet (as a Raid boss). All they did was clear first _entry_ level raid instance for WotLK.

And while we are at it, why would it bother me or any _normal_ player? They are sponsored to play games hardcore. They had months of preparations on beta servers, they had months of preparations (gearing, stacking consumables etc) on live server. And all this just so they can do it asap, world first.

Honestly before average player even sees this instance Blizzard will probably release another one in next content patch.

So stop repeating false rumors, stop jumping bandwagon of hysteria and think for yourself.

It's still an expansion full of turd-burgers, lazy-ass copy/paste work and intended for the casual players. Hardcore will blow through it in no time, go back to being bored and spam /trade with useless shit. Another note is that even though they got all the top-end stuff at 70, all that crap is more or less useless at 80 if WotLK follow the same suit concerning gear as TBC did. So that they had months getting gear blablabla on live servers is bullshit, and you know it.

If you would play the game, you know it is NOT.

They didn't use any single old build from the old content (like Keeps or Inns).

So before commenting you should play the game first. The new world is nothing short of amazing.

No thanks, TBC was copy/paste from classic, just mobs/armor and weapons with new skins. I'm on an extended break now from that game and have no reason at all to believe all you braindead fanboys when it comes to WotLK. You will praise Blizzard whatever they do and fanboys will hype even the most shitty turd out there.

I'm playing alot of those excellent singleplayer games that's out instead. Jade Empire for the pc was nothing more than short of amazing. Bloody damn good work from Bioware. Dead Space is a good game so far, and Fallout3 is really impressive. Bethesda took what was good from Oblivion and scrapped all the bad stuff from that game. Race Driver Grid is entertaining me with it's sense of speed, especially the replays. You mistake those for the real thing if it caught you unaware. I've also rediscovered some old gems like Sacred, Dungeon Siege and Vampire the Masquerade. Lot's of mods and extra stuff out now for those games.

Also, traditional Asian MMORPG events that involve alot of players usually does not require max level to be reached in order to participate.  It is only once they are exposed to western style of gaming that Asians are exposed to the idea of  "end game" content.  Basically, the "end game" content for traditional Asian games does not require max level to be reached.
Asians traditionally did not really have as much needs to kill other players single handedly out of pure ego, if we can't do it by ourselves, we team up with others and combine our strength.  (Do not confuse this as teaming up and just use each other)  Asian gamers that likes an ego trip put in enough time into the game to prove their strength.  There are no traditional Asian MMORPG that a player can simply sit around all day and somehow end up with all the equipments they need.  A character's strength is equal to the player's commitment to the game.  Of course, as the international MMO industry starting merge, the Asian developed MMORPG style start to change dramatically to fit the international market.
The Asian MMORPG that are released in the last 5 years, are actually not even traditional Asian MMORPG anymore, but watered down version in various aspect, and will continue to do so as long as the western player base demand shorter grinding.  This is actually a change in progress, however, most players are just too impatient to even see the change, or just have no knowledge of traditional Asian MMORPG to begin with.
Your problem?  Nothing.  As a human being you are perfectly fine being only able to look at the world through your own eyes.  Empathy is not exactly something everyone are born with.
If you are just a WoW fanboi, howvever, I have just wasted all that time typing when I could have been doing something more constructive.  At least someone might read this and learn something.

Play FFXI and tell me that.. Asain MMO, VERY end game oriented.

No they didn't down the Lich King. learn to read.

What they did was using the open Beta for 5 months long to plan and analyse HOW they could level to 80 with multi tagging of some player "slaves"..

Then had a well prepared plan during the last 2 months of how to skip content to end up to the latest raiding bosses and then yell on their website they downed a  few bosses in 65 + hours time.

    ----

So in fact they played and prepared everything for a period of 5 months. They used ALL of their guild to help tag some 25 people to power level them through level 80 without seeing any content at all.

And then used the techniques prepared during 2 months to down some end bosses. They "played" these bosses 7/7 days for 2 months long at 6 hours a day.

That's open Beta to Blizz: they let their players test everything. But these idiots just abused the system.

But still they didn't down the Lich King,  you should reread. The Lich King isn't even in the game at the moment.

Conlusion: IF they didn't PLAY it for 5 months in Open Beta and IF they didn't have fools in their guild working in shifts and multi player/accounts using to illegal power level them, they wouldn't have downed anything by now.

Instead of making silly noises about some fools using multi persons/accounts, you should revisit the game and see they do NOT use the same housing and landscape system. The zones are incredible compared to earlier content and you just miss it by a wide length.

No silly posts will help you out on this one.

Actually people reached the level cap of several expansions in EQ within a couple of days as well.   I remember the AOEing in Fungus Grove Luclin era in particular, players hit the level cap in a matter of hours.

So the OP is wrong, simple as.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

There are always people in every game that feel compelled to be first to the top.  They are an extreme minority.  Most players fall somewhere in the middle and you get your moneys worth.  The people who rush through end up having to wait longer than the rest of us for new content :)

Actually the first person to 80 made it in 27 hours and they did not use a exploit as the guy ahead of him did and was made 70 again as punishment.

Point being WoW is not hard if you have the time to grind, but if you choose to grind to 80 then yes your gonna miss alot of the content

What kills me is that this thread is totally stupid because noone knows wtf the OP was even talking about...he's not talking about someone leveling to 80 in 68 hours and 30 minutes...he's talking about all endgame content (raids) being completed.  Check it out for yourselves over here and quit having a hissy fit over some shit the post isn't even about.

There is what the OP was talking about.  Now discuss that instead of jumping way off topic even though it was the OP's fault that he didn't explain wtf he was talking about worth jack.

I remember a warlock in my guild leveling her froglock from 60-70 in under 18 hours.  It was pretty impressive back then, but it is pretty commonplace in MMOs today.

People like to be first to hit end level for some reason and there are plenty of strategies to do so.  Millions and Millions of gamers will always find ways to do things that a few hundred developers never intended.  It doesn't matter what the game is.

I believe Athene and his mates was under 24 hours incl. preparation... im not sure how much time it took them exactly.. but right before the they dinged 80, a GM came on and banned them... GF Athene..              but they did it... this is for 70-80

But the 68 hours and 30 mins is about  nihilum clearing the raid bosses in WoTLK.

    Agreed.

What these guys do is not representative of normal gameplay. They are professional gamers who work this stuff out months in advance.

It's not "disturbing" in the least.

I'm gonna just respond to the OP. Here's a short list of games for ya:

Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Half-Life.

Here's another list of some other highly acclaimed games:

Call of Duty, Medal Of Honour, Grand Theft Auto III, Far Cry

And here's a list of some of my own personal favourites (also well-acclaimed):

    No One Lives Forever 1 & 2, Max Payne 1 & 2, Psychonauts, Mafia.

What links all these games together? Answer: A hardcore gamer could complete them in a weekend.

Does this mean that they are "not worth the money"? No. They are highly absorbing, immersive games.

The difference is that when these are completed you pretty much HAVE SEEN ALL THE CONTENT for that game (with the exception of the GTA games). With World Of Warcraft, ploughing through WotLK in under 3 days does NOT MEAN that you have covered all the content - and can put the game away and move onto the next one. It just means you have played the game differently to a casual gamer.

Sorry, but any post that goes on about how poor the game is cos you can level from 70-80 really quickly just doesn't cut it.

It isn't even all the content, it's just the leveling part which should be as fast as possible.

should not be as fast as possible, whats the point of adding levels if they are going to make go as fast as possible, thats one of the things i never liked about WoW.

When I landed in Valiance Keep with my warlock I got several comments saying I should wait until I was 70 to start questing; mainly because most thought I'd run out of quests.  I did the same thing with Outlands.  The reason I'm fine today with enough quests to spare is that I actually like spending time in each zone, and will do almost every quest available.  Folks get too caught-up in leveling that they miss a lot of the side quests/stories.

Lol, I doubt I'll be 76 at 3 Days Played.
