AoC is damn fun in fact

I played WAR since release and liked it quite a lot in fact. Had little of all those tech issues some people complain about and RvR was a blast... the first couple of weeks. After that RvR just went away. I don't know what happened ,but that game just can't give me what I want which is massive Multiplay. Even after server transfer I am still stuck in nomansland. So ,then I bought AoC to have a taste on their 48 vs 48 Siege. I have not gotten there yet, but I have had a few days in the game so fare and I must say FC has really done a great job here. I know many people have comments to content later in the game, but hell so fare it has been a long while since I have had so much fun in a game.

    If you didn't like the dwindling population in Warhammer, you won't like AoC. AoC is all about hype and marketing, which doesn't take the place of decent gameplay

    But if you enjoy poorly made games, with little to no end content, a lousey community, and shoddy customer service, you should have a blast.

    Yet the guy is still having fun. I would class fun in direct relation to decent gameplay, if it wasn't decent he wouldn't be having fun. But it looks like you enjoy being a part of that lousy community as well.

    Let us know how you progress in a 'no holds bar' way OP as you move through :)

    I had a blast in AoC until I got to level 21.  The fun difference between Tortage and the "real" game is like night and day.

    Been playing AoC since release. It is fun, at the start. combat was new and different , and the classes seemed to all have their place.  It was a fresh take on the standard MMOs out there.  But, it has some major issues.  Graphics are awesome, and from there it all goes downhill.

    Everytime you wanna try a new class, you do the same thing, work to get out of tortage.  Once out, you go to the same few spots to level up, doing the same quests over and over again.  After doing this a few times, it just gets old.  It is extremely linear.

    I cant knock this game too much, cause i really do like it, ill just come back next year (if its still around) once it has all the bugs worked out.  But anyway, have fun, it is a cool game to play for a few months anyhow..

    AoC linear? This must be the statement I agree the least with. I agree with the point of Tortage, but AoC endgame is extremely nonlinear if played the way it is supposed to get played. I would go as fare as there are not a more complex endgame (at least on PvP servers) than in AoC. Reason is the players themselves build the cities and they themselves choose what conflicts to have, what Wars to fight. Besides this you got that whole  murder criminal thing going.

     Welcome to the club dude, but it's very likely you'll be just as disappointed as everybody else once you see the difference between the first couple of days, and the incomplete pos the rest of the game is.

    Welcome to the game OP.

    Just so people know, the Game Director posted a new letter a day or so ago and basically it can be summed up in two parts:

    They are planning to get the following onto test, and perhaps even to Live before the end of the year:

    * 1 x L80 solo dungeon + 1 x L80 group dungeon.

    * Directx 10 features.

    Also before the Holidays they are planning to get server merges done.  The Q3 report also states that Trial accounts and digital distribution will commence towards the end of this year.

    In the New Year:

    * Commons District for level 75+

    * Reitemisation, greater stat importance, skills and feats rebalance.

    * No mention has been made of the contested dungeon "House of Crom", but seeing how the Game Director works, he plays safe.  Therefore, he will probably be keeping things very quiet about that one until after Commons District is released in the New Year.

    If they time this right, they will let people burn themselves through on the well know expansion that was released and have this stuff ready for them.

    Just came back to AoC myself. Really enjoying Ymir's Pass. The level 55 wall that took the fun out of the game for me is finally gone. Can't say anything about endgame, but what I've played, I've liked.

    Well I am not that high level yet, but AoC is doing the job for me. PvP is so awesome... Really a nice twist this whole Consequence thing.

    No, Sil changed that as fast as he became community manager. 75+ it is. And it is really needed.

    Nice, I might have to come back to AoC soon. I know Ymirs is now done... but there was still some grinding in the 60-70 region and in the 70+ region, not going to come back till I can quest till max level.

    Enjoy, and do not listen to trolls. It's all up to what kind of person you are. If you enjoy challenges, the excitement of battle and PVP - you'll be satisfied with AOC more than any other fantasy game out there.

    It's all about PVP and your tactics of fight. The only game where you can still beat fresh opponent while having 25% of health, just because of your good skills and not items/level/feats of your character.

    Though AOC is kinda more like counter-strike at some point. Except sieges - people play PVP minigames mostly. Rest of the game is about duels or small group fights (fighting gankers or ganking yourself)

    The only thing AOC lack here is achievements... There's a little you achieve by PVP compared to some other (rare) games. And this fact may kill it for me one day, but not today :)

    They changed it for lvl 75+ (Tarantia Commons) I believe it's in the November Game Director letter.

    I think your thinking of Tarantia Noble District which is the quest levels are for which you mention.

    Commons District is a whole new area to the left of the noble district lower down (the poor area) They bumped up the level area from 45 to 70+ to help feed extra high level area's coming through.
