Yes you can. The EQ2 assasin is quite good, do a lot of damage if you get someone in the back. It is a good game but it have monthly fees. Try the trial out.
AoCs assasin is fun to play but you need a really good computer to run it, otherwise is EQ2 better.
Guildwars don't have jumping so it goes away.
Spellbornn is releasing in a week, the start area is free while the rest costs monthly fees, so it is well worth trying, looks really gothic
Don't get me wrong, DAoC was my favorite MMO I've ever played, but the pop is really lacking atm, when I look i usually see around 3k players online in the entire game, all servers and EU servers. If low pop is cool with you then DAoC may be good, I haven't played since Catacombs so I'm sure a lot had changed stealther wise.

I loved my Shadowblade in DAOC back when I played (first year and a half or so). They were the only stealth class that could equip a 2 hander, and backstab was based only on the damage of the weapon, which obviously is higher on low speed weapons... essentially 2 handed axe + backstab = dead anything. They must have nerfed that eventually, people complained all the time.

I have a lvl 81 rogue in Everquest, which is basically an assasin.
I went with shadowblade and went crazy using a 2 hander for max first hit hehe really fun.
use human for the strength if you do that.
went rogue in the old EQ they do rocking assasin attacks at higher level. barberian
