WHY WOW WHY

Why are they gonna have an open beta...(Beta phase=test period to fix problems) with only 2 weeks from release... I mean c'mon... In my eyes one you dont get that atleast a month to find out what the game stims to later down the road and it seems like a business strat to grab some EQ awaiters. Its all good though I just wish they woulda given the people atleast a month because 2 weeks seems like just enough time to enjoy it then oops... my characters deleted must buy the game and start all over.

Games Enjoyed: UO,EQ,AC,EQ2,COX,LOTRO
Games Played(-Above):WoW,MXO,GW(beta),RFO,ArchLord,V:SOH,Rappelz,Ryzom,DDO
Games I felt were a rip-off: DDO,ArchLord,V:SOH - all newer how ironic

Well thats the point.  Open Beta is more of a time to test the game to see if it something you would like, or something you wouldnt.  By the time Open Beta starts Im sure Blizzard will put a freeze on the WoW code, so no changes will be taking place until post release patches.

I'd be more pissed of losing a character after a month.  But either way it goes I don't care as long as I odn't have to wait too long between OB and release.

Open beta is mostly a stress test. Different from the other stress tests simply because everyone can join. So this is where they really figure out if what they are using can handle EVERYONE. Of course just like real beta, it is our job to report any bugs or errors that we stumble across. But mostly, this is where everyone has a chance to play.

It is ridiculous claiming that video games influence children. For instance, if Pac-Man affected kids born in the 80's, we should by now have a bunch of teenagers who run around darkened rooms and eat pills while listening to monotonous music!

I played in the stress beta in September. 9 days of pure fun. I had a L10 Night Elf warrior, and then a L17 Undead warrior.

I was majorly bummed when the stress test ended. It sucks, and I won't do that again - IE, invest a lot of time in one character only to lose it. If I get in the open beta, I plan on playing a race I normally wouldn't play, as a character I don't care about. Probably something like a gnome priest.

In my honest yet humble opinion, this game was ready in September. The servers may not have been ready, which to me, right now, is the only plausible excuse. If they cannot handle the load, then the game isn't ready. Everything else is superfluous.

I say this because I am playing City of Heroes. CoH gets a lot of updates, and some major facelifts. I have been playing for 3 weeks, and I have seen a lot of changes in that short amount of time. And you know what, it is all good. For example, I was in this one mission, and there was a group of bad guys trapped under a stair. We submitted a bug, they fixed it very quickly, and the next day we did the mission again and completed it. No big deal, we didn't lose anything, and heck, we got extra XP from doing it twice. They have made changes to their chat system, to the contact system, added new content and at least one new zone that I know about.

Personally, I love the new content thing. You login and its like, hey, a whole new playground to explore. This is interestingly cool. And WoW dwarfs CoH in size. How much can you explore in one month, the time it would take Blizzard to fix a large amount of problems? Yes, there are people who play like beta testers. Yes, there are people who play 24x7. But face it, the average schmo isn't even going to be aware of 10% of what Blizzard fixes in the first 6 months.

Here is the reality - lets say a bunch of dwarf quests are broken, but the undead's are all OK. Do you delay the game? I think there is a lot of nitpicking as to what needs to be fixed before going live. I truly believe Blizzard is going for overkill. Maybe their mantra is any day before Christmas is a good time to release. Who knows.

The reality, though, is that this game has a fantastic amount of detail already, and is a blast to play. I say release it if the servers are ready. If people come across bugs, submit then to Blizzard and get on with your character's life.

well they can't really release the game yet until they polish off the classes. as it is now in the beta, the warrior's third stance, berserker stance, is incomplete. paladins and hunters don't have their talents implemented yet. warlocks i hear are still slightly broken. and there are a bunch of bug fixes that need to be addressed before the game can go to retail. sure, the game will have some bugs once released, but at least the major ones found in beta will be taken care of in some way.

i see this game coming out at least a week or two after the suggested release date. the reason is because i really don't see the game ready for an open beta yet. especially since the high end raid content hasn't been implemented yet.

Open beta is also a great marketing strategy. I know alot of people that will not even bother to look when they hear there is a monthly fee. But when blizzard puts up an open beta for free, alot of people will be interested to try it out for 2 weeks, get addicted, and buy the retail.

And also, it's to test the server capabilities but I think most of the forum is aware of this.

Why then to the Devs give us excuses for the Servers of Delays on their DElays. CRIMES! I'm a Elf and need levels because I couldn't Play THURsday. I couldn't play FIRDAY either because Ther servers DOWN and Today's Friday!" - Catavari

paladin and hunter talents are coming out next patch.  I will use OB to experiment around.  was planning on horde for retail (had a great time doing Horde in ST) but wanna give the alliance a try.  since I don't need to worry about competing for a beta slot I can just play how I want.
