Well, I'm very interested in MMORPG's and I've been playing them for years. I started out playing RuneScape but this has become boring, the thing is with other games is there isn't enough to do, it's either do quests or take part in combat.
I want a new game which has a lot to do, like in RuneScape you can train other skills, etc. So if you can suggest a game with a lot of things to do then that would be great.
My PC is pretty decent so I don't think I'll have troubles playing any, my specs are listed below.
AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 4800+ (2.51GHZ)
3GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT
Thanks in Advance

I'm kind of the same way, I've tried most of the MMOs out there, and for me, the one that had the most to do was EQ2. IMO has one of the best crafting systems and theres loads upon loads of content.

Yeah, that's the thing EQ2 has never appealed to me, it just looks so dull and boring :S
I still suggest at least the trial if you haven't before, no loss in just trying.

I'll wait for more suggestions, if not then I'll give it a go.
The other game that appealed to me a lot within those standards would be LotrO, so I'd also suggest it.

Haha, I tried the BETA and I hated it :S
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you're looking for a sandbox type. Try this thread in the LFGame forum: Looking for A SandBox type game All of the listed games there have a lot to offer.

I'm not quite sure what a sandbox game is.

Runes of magic is releasing soon, have tons of quests. If youre looking for a F2P game, it is the game you should try.
Otherwise (and excluding EQ2 which is actually a good game) try Guildwars, a lot of things to do there. Wow is also worth a try if you havn't tried it.
If Runescape was your first and only MMO that you've been playing for years, then I suggest you take a survey of all MMOs that you can get your hands on. Meaning all that have free trials.
Off the top of my head those with free trials include:
All SOE games: I recommend EQ2 and Vanguard(all my recommendations are for perspective, not necessarily based on what's good).
All PlayNC games: I recommend Lineage 2 and TR.
All Turbine games: I recommend DDO.
EVE. Which you'll either instantly like or hate-- you should know very quickly.
Sword of the New World: Again for perspective. I think everyone who plays MMOs should know what an asian grinder is. So if you don't try L2, try this as it's free.
And a bevy of free games. Just to see what's out there.
And of course, WoW.
Those are the only games for which I'm sure, off the top of my head, that have free trials. I recommend trying as many as possible but don't try WoW until last...
If you're bored of RS, don't like the look of EQ2 and don't like LOTRO or WoW then you've pretty much played everything the market has to offer in some form or other. The only other option is WAR that focuses mainly on PvP.
Other than that wait until next year for Aion/DF etc.
If you don't like WOW or WOW in Middle Earth or WOW in etc., etc. then there isn't a huge amount of choice available as far as i can tell(and I have been looking)
for sci-fi there's Eve(as has already been suggested) or anarchy online(big world, lots of char options but is showing its age)
for fantasy you could try planeshift(playable but under development but 100% free) or atlantica(worth a look but it is a major f2p grindfest so can get old fast)
for more realism you could try bounty bay/voyage century or navy fleet(if u don't mind playing with boats that is)
other than these best bet is to go down the list with a trial and error approach and see if you can find something to your taste but there are alot of variations of the wow style gameplay atm and you may have to wait for something different to be released
If you enjoyed playing the Final Fantasy series, I must urge you to try Atlantica Online, its just too much fun. Honestly just try it till about lvl 20 or 30. Leveling is easy in the game, due to the abundunce of quests. Not to mention the fact that you can control towns and create your own nations. PVP is absolutely a blast, though there isn't much of a Group PVP scene...yet. The game itself is farely new and the playerbase is expanding rapidly. Not to mention its F2P !!!
So yea, it is a strategy game where you control up to 9 players. So, again, if you do enjoy the FF series of similar games I strongly suggest you take a look.
No games at the moment have enough to do in them, it's really annoying me.
I don't want to play a game which like all the rest, you do quests and combat, get the the max level and be bored. I like RuneScape because you can do combat when you want, quests when you want, and also, the most important part of a MMORPG for me, is doing skills. This takes you away from the main things and gives you something to do if you're bored of combat and also helps you to make money. Skills are this sort are often missed from games nowadays and it's stupid. Voyage Century Online had them but I didn't like the gameplay.
I just need a game with combat, quests AND skills. But they're so hard to find.
I suggest that you should try Atlantica online from ndoors. I was too boring with all of those pay 2 play and free 2 play mmorpgs offer out there untill Atlantica, now i am hooked, there are quests galore, skills to learn, pvp contest with prizes, or make bet on pvp conest to win tons of money( in game currency that is). Give it a test run , i am almost certain that you will like it, and as ndoors has advertise if you dont like this game they will buy back your character, well now i havent seen any game that have that much confident, have you? certainly worth giving a try . I know i will see you in Atlantica !!!
