Yep that definately sucks...here I was lookin forward to playin soon. Been killin time waiting for this release since AoC didn't do it for me. Now gonna hafta kill more time...;P
Sadly, I suspect Acclaim is going to screw the pooch on this game. What is interesting to me is that when the Euro version releases, I will not be under NDA anymore, but yet it will be in "closed" beta for Acclaim. What the heck are they going to do different? I mean, is this going to be like the old days where different versions were in different regions?
So I also find out that being a CB player for TCoS (europe) means nothing and I have to resubmit to Acclaim to get in there. Acclaim ruined 9Dragons with their lack of support and running servers which were *nothing* like what existed in the far East. I can't wait until a year from now when Acclaim still has NA TCoS servers on the version from release and Europe has had a dozen patches and updates.
Idiot moves like this are a great example of great potential games end up with vacant servers. Split release dates, split "closed" betas, last minute (yes, I consider under 2 weeks to be last minute) release date changes...what a joke.
It's not just NA release date as it includes the UK because they seem to have missed the fact that the UK is actually in the EU! And they're using IP blocking. Complete mess. I'll give it a miss.

Wouldn't be at all surprized if Acclaim is having closed beta so they can find a way to impliment an 'item mall'. So ya gotta pay the full monthly fee but having extras at the mall for you to spend more money. I am starting to see why there is little mention of this games release in NA...
Makes no sence to have a closed beta for us, while europe is done n the game is on the market.

They'll probably bundle that p.o.s. Gameguard with it too.
Honestly, Acclaim does worry me. I'm still going to try to beta it in the Acclaim version. If I don't, I know I will try the F2P just to see if they don't match up with Euro.
I hate to burst anyones bubble, but this game will never be released. If it does get released it will have a very small European fan base.
Back in 2005....yes.. 2005, It is now almost 2009...I was was really excited about the game. I got really involved with the community, even became a forum moderator for the official team.
Long story short....This particular developing team promises many things but never ever delivers.

Well, say what you like, but in 7 days we will all know. On the Euro CB website and official public website it seems to be it will be released on the 27th.
What a joke I was looking forward to playing this game but if they are going to do stupid stuff like this I won't waste my money on this game. I hope that Darkfall does not pull a stupid stunt like this becouse I can't find any MMO's that I like to play right now.
Why is it such big of a deal that the release dates are split? For WoW, we had to wait 3 months longer than NA players, and heck in FF XI the european release date was almost a year later than the NA one. This is the first time I see the european release date being the earliest though, and *now* people go batshit crazy? Bah live with it

yeah and notice how UK is only lumped in with NA when its disadvantagous.
we still get lumped with EU for everything else and suffer for it. IE. wish we were with NA for warhammer online.

Actually, it has less to do about having to wait than it does with Acclaim's record on split releases. And the fact that they lumped UK with NA, New Zealand, Australia, and S. Africa, of which they have no convenient playtime sharing.
Almost every MMO that launches globally does split launches. There could be any number of reasons why including:
- find a publisher close to the end of beta and having to spend time getting servers up and tested on
- problems with the contract
- additional content
- localization
It just so happens that it's usually the other way around and it's Europe getting screwed, or Russia, or Chinia. Look at Age of Conan for instance, they still havent released in Russia I don't beleive. The one thing that is a downfall is the IP block which most p2p games dont due, because frankly your paying for the game. But this could really boil down to what's on the contract. And if so, it would be TCoS's fault for doing this, as they make the contract. This doesn't make Acclaim a better company though. And I feel for the UK, it's really odd that they placed you with the U.S. Sounds like TCoS needs schooled on geography. But I take it as a blessing in disguise. Now atleast I will know how it's been running and getting updated before I play it, even though I was a beta tester. Also to note, I beleive the NDA was lifted on the game itself, meaning it can be talked about even though the publisher Acclaim is moving into CB here soon. It's almost odd enough that they are calling it a Closed Beta when all they are really doing is testing servers.
My point about Acclaim is that they have a bad record of keeping the games they split off up to date with current patches and content. They also have a record of fiddling with resources, drop rates, exp rates, available skills, quest rewards, and money drops in other games when compared to "home" servers.
IF they just want to test servers, and IF they aren't going to add some of their patented BS (adds, item mall) in game, AND IF they keep up with the patches made on Euro servers, THEN I will be a little more positive about the NA release.
Note that the Euro OB (ver 0.9.0.2) already has GG on it, which is a favorite of Acclaim games...

kind of sucks. all I can do now is hope for a beta invite.
Guild Wars 2 is my religion
