Well i am building a new system when the next generation Gcard hit the shelf sometime early nexty year and of course if i am buildng i should move up with the technology.

I have been an athlon man for a while so i will be building with the athlon64 processor currently having my eye on the athlon64 3200+ which is set for a price drop sometime in january when the more powerful ones(think 4000 version coming on soon).

Though i don't agree with that poll that it will do miracles to mmorpg .Gcard is where it is at for mmorpg  because processors are so fast nowadays that they rarely have use for the extra power it offers apart from loading times.

With the introduction of the PCI Express interface as well as the 64 bit Processors and SATA interfaces, major improvements will sweep across the boards in gameplay to an extent....

Until the developers find out how to utilize those structures then it will be back to square one...those being Required to run the game.

I love technology, I just hate the prices image

When dealing with games, I love to beta test.

When it comes to hardware, I'll let other people spend their money while the bugs are being worked out, then buy it::::28::

Until the Operating System is built to fully support it, there is not much reason to have one...

LOL. That is like Windows 1.0

After a few version when they actually have it working well and it is nearly 100% compatible accross the board, then yes, we will finally have a 64-bit OS.

Calling that thing a 64-bit OS is like calling Windows 3.1 a 32-bit Operating System.

It is just a rough draft. When they get it right, it will be great.

i wont be getting a 64bit until early 2005, and when the prices of pin939 goes down some more.

You do know that when they get all the bugs taken out of that version, there will be a new Processing structure out and 64-bit will be totally obsolete, less than standards...the future looks expensive. LOL

Well, I can personally vouche and say 64 bit is very nice and there is a noticeable difference. My boyfriend and I just purchased a 3000+ 64 bit AMD. My other friend has a 3.4 ghz AMD XP and our 3000+ is better. We tested it with Joint Operations. Our gameplay/fps is greater. Plus, we only have a 9600 pro vid. card where as our friend has the 9800 pro. So, it is defintely worth getting the 64 bit if you are interested in it. image

So you are saying your 3000+ with a 9600 Pro got better frame rates than a 3.4 AMD with a 9800 pro?

Considering a 9800 Pro is almost twice as fast as a 9600 pro, I really doubt your findings. Sorry. There are NO games on the market that will take advantage of the fact that you have a 64 bit processor.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. I know it is hard to believe, trust me we were shocked as well. We also have the newer ram than our friend, but I kid you not our fps were better, anywhere from 5-10.

    Here ya go...

    FutureMark Download Site

Download 3DMark05, run it and post a screenshot of the results. Sorry, I am just going to have to have some proof.

That would be a very bad idea since 3d mark doesnt run too well on 64 bit. I can tell you, however, that benchmarks using games works a bit better.

And, the latest Windows XP x64 is working great.

Going with 64 bit for sure even if it does not affect my games that much it will lower compile times.

I am running an AMD 3200+ 64 bit and my system runs flawlessly.  I have less lag when playing DAOC and other games I play.  I also installed 1 gig of corsair 400mhz ram and it is on an Asus K8V se deluxe mb.  I really love my system now, even other people have remarked that they love how fast it runs compared to their systems.  I also benchmarked mine against a 4 gig Intel with hypethreading technology and mine beat the Intel in every aspect.  Anyways just my imput

    Take care

That's pretty amazing. Intel let you into their R & D lab to benchmark their processor that isn't available yet??
