Everquest II Zones/maps

Will the World be a Zone like City Of Heros?(The Small Little Zones) Or more like Dark Age Of Camelot. I really like to know how big is the map by exploring the world not zones. I really like to go around the whole world to see without having to cross Zones. Please tell me and thanks

    There are zones

However the "playing grounds" are wide open without zones (commonlands, Antonica (sp) etc).  You'll pretty much hit zones from city gate to city gate, dungeons, and crafting basements.

Shops: you just open the door and walk in and their is no zoning.

Antonica is so huge you have to take griffons to get across faster. I like how they do zoning in this game, it is kind of mixed and if there was just one big zone, it would be OOC hell.

When you see the game world you will know why EQ2 use's zones.

No game out there that i have played can touch it for the detail and depth to each zone, if they did it as a seemless world then there would be no were near as much depth and detail.

lol I know what you mean.  I was in the sewers the other day and saw algea and crap floating to the surface where the waist water spilled out.

Heh, I must say that was pretty darn impressive.

Another reason why EQ2 wont be for me. Spending a quarter of your game time zoning - man its painful and it aint because of the graphics which you'll have pleanty of time to see when the screen turns into a frozen screen-saver because of it's resource hogishness.

you don't spend a quarter of your time zoning. I spent 5 straight hours playing EQ2  yesterday and the only time I zoned was in an underground mine.

If I typically play for 5 hours, I may zone about 4 times.  I don't think that's 25%. Now if you don't like fighting but walking around towns, then you're going to zone some which isn't different than other mmorpgs:

AO: You zone after every whompa, store, dungeon, and city district

CoH: You zone after every city district block and tram

FFXI: You zone after every region (similiar to EQ2)

EVE: You zone after every stargate and station dock

Lineage II: You don't zone anywhere (at least last time I played it)...but the lag kicks you in the but sometimes in the popular cities.

Planetside: You zone to every battlefield and training field

SWG: You zone to every planet or after every trip to the shuttle
