My top 3 complaints

synxxsynxx Member Posts: 6

Well, this game has alot of problems that make it bad.

1) Same servers for Asians (3-4 languages), Enlish players (English), Europeans (German, Dutch, French, Spanish ETC), and people on Consoles (no way to communicate). This is realy silly. You can't expect the average passerby to be able to help you, even if they wanted too.

2) No costomization. Everyone looks the same. If I wanted to look at 500 midgets wearing pumpkin hats sitting in a row, I would go to Teawana.

3) Extremly repepetive, Extremly repepetive, Extremly repepetive, Extremly repepetive, Extremly repepetive.

Yeah, it's not very fun, I found myself having the most fun sitting on the cliffs and fishing....

Just my opninions, played for about 2 months.

Are you an idiot.  That is the point of an MMORPG, to meet other people from other countries.  If you don't like it, Don't Play.

How do you call someone an idiot on your very first post? Everyone has his/her opinion. Respect that and disagree with tact. Sheesh.

Your Right, my fault.  I am just like the game any one how doesn't i disagree with strongly.

Heheh, ok. Yeah, I know, its annoying when people bash a game you love. That happened with SWG for me. Til I realized most of them were right but they didn't know how to subjectively convey it. I like those who when they post reasons for disliking a game give pros and cons. Every game has SOMETHING that they liked, other wise why did they play it in the first place?

  • Magician2905Magician2905 Member UncommonPosts: 22

Have to agree - very repetitve! Interface is not particularly intuitive and seem to spend a shed load of time running round doin nothin or runnin round lookin for monsters to kill or JUST RUNNIN!!!!!

Im now wait for it LEVEL 5, but still wearing the same armour still using the same weapon and still looking for money to buy new stuff - wooopppppeeeeedo................

Ps I have played several MMORPGs including Asherons Call (for 2 years). Unfortunately this just aint anywhere as good.

Impatiently waiting for EQ2 to come out

obviously you haven't figured out how to use the autotranslator, or can't use it well, i have been in all japanese parties and had a great time, just get past your racial differences. people on consoles can communicate... ps2 has usb ports and any usb keyboards works automatically. also i have the game on both pc and ps2 (which i take to work and play on there) so i'm very glad there isnt' a seperate server for ps2 players, besides that would be kind of lame, it would may as well have it's own version if they did it that way.

there are literally thousands of pieces of gear spread over 20 different equipment slots, all of which affect the way your character looks. there is facial, hair, and height and weight customization when you create your character..... where the heck did you get the no customization idea?

every single MMO i've played has been this way, and i've played most of the big ones, so i'm assuming they are all this way, it's called being a newb.

your complaints kind of suck, i mean you may as well complain about all the content they are constantly adding. if you want something real to complain about with this game why not complain about the fact that it was released in japan for a year before NA players got to play, giving all the japanese players time to master their crafts and hit uber high levels, so that when it was finally released in NA, all the japs decided to price gouge us. now that's a real complaint.

My, my! Lots of idiots on this thread! I'll respond to what I've found to be the most ridiculous here:

    1) Same servers for Asians (3-4 languages), Enlish players (English), Europeans (German, Dutch, French, Spanish ETC), and people on Consoles (no way to communicate). This is realy silly. You can't expect the average passerby to be able to help you, even if they wanted too.

As much as I hate FF11, I've had nearly no trouble communicating with people, as I've come across plenty of English-speakers. As for Asians, I've only seen the Japanese language used. As for Europeans, I've stopped playing before the European launch, so I can't vouch for whether all of those languages are used in the game. I'm guessing that since you hate this game, you're just trying to make it look worse than it actually is (which would be pretty bad) and you're attacking the wrong areas.

Finally, have you ever played FF11 on PS2? You hook up a USB keyboard, and there you go. Even if you don't, there's a software keyboard onscreen for you to use.

Yeah, it's not very fun, I found myself having the most fun sitting on the cliffs and fishing....

You lose all right to rant about FF11 if the most fun you have in it is fishing. BOR-ING.

That is the point of an MMORPG, to meet other people from other countries.

You as well, are an idiot. The point of an MMORPG is not to meet other people from other countries, it is to simply play the game with other people in general. If you're playing an MMORPG because you want to talk to Japanese people, stop wasting your money and go find a Japanese chat room or something.

there are literally thousands of pieces of gear spread over 20 different equipment slots, all of which affect the way your character looks. there is facial, hair, and height and weight customization when you create your character..... where the heck did you get the no customization idea?

And here's some biased spin about how great FF11 is. There are 20 equipment slots and tons of equipment, true. However, only about five of those slots display the equipment on your character. Add to that, among the "thousands" of pieces of gear, most of them are repeats of the same visual style. Facial? Each race/gender gets about eight difference face/hair sets, and two hair colors per set. That is NOT enough. I don't get what you mean about "height and weight" unless you're talking about the "small/medium/large" selection at the end of character creation which does virtually nothing to your appearance.
    Quit LYING.

every single MMO i've played has been this way, and i've played most of the big ones, so i'm assuming they are all this way, it's called being a newb.

I've played plenty of MMOs, as well, and while they all get repetitive sooner or later (which is still a BAD THING, even if they all do it) some of them are much better than the others. FF11, however, is still a chore to play.

did i say the customization was HUGE? i didn't say it was incredible, all i did was post about what customization there is and i'm a LIAR? you sir, are an idiot, not I.

  • JoshFatalJoshFatal Member Posts: 42

Did I say you were a liar? Yes, I did, and for good reason.

there are literally thousands of pieces of gear spread over 20 different equipment slots, all of which affect the way your character looks.

This is a FLAT OUT LIE.

there is facial, hair, and height and weight customization when you create your character..... where the heck did you get the no customization idea?

Where as this is a Michael Moore-styled lie. It's TECHNICALLY true, but it's also quite misleading. The way you put it makes it sound as if I can change my character's face, change my character's hair, and then adjust his height and weight, when, in fact, I can do pretty much nothing about their height & weight, and the hair/face selection comes in packaged deals, and quite a few of them at that.

Come on. You knew damn well what the other guy meant about there being "no customization." Why don't you just go ahead and say "DOOD YOU CAN HAVE A NEARLY INFINITE COMBINATION OF JOBS. WHERE THE HECK DID YOU GET THE NO CUSTOMIZATION IDEA?" when you already know only a select few Job combos are feasible?

You're still a liar, and an idiot.

This is kinda funny, and JoshFatal,.........You ARE an idiot!!

Anyway, I am on Ragnarok server, monk is at level 37, warrior is at 31, soon as he hits 37 Samurai will be my main job. So if anyone else is on that server shoot me a tell. Also gotten to Rank 5, which makes a big difference in travel for I now get to use all the airship services. Its a good game, but EQ2 does seem to better suited for "casual" gamers and will be getting my attention soon. On to the next generation of MMORPG's!

P.S. Name is Eloc in game.

My jobs in FFXI are listed below in my signature.

I'm a hardcore player. I LOVE FFXI for so many reasons, which I don't have the time to get into.

The economy is exellent. I'm a very rich person, and it was NOT easy getting it. Long hard work camping NMs/HNM's and just plane farming is manditory. 99% of people concider themselves poor, which is good, difficult mmorpg's are the best.

    Final Fantasy XI:

    -Stable
    -Very well balanced
-Exellent storyline method, best of all MMORPG's
    -Great job system.
-Advancing is very dificult, which in my opinion is it's best attribute.
-Both expansions are full and fleshed out.
    -Art work is great
    -Tarutaru are cute image
-I'm rich and your not, All Right!

I agree with everything Kjodo said.

FFXI is the best mmorpg on the market (I've played thoroughly: EverQuest, SWG, WoW, AC2, DAoC) FFXI is just a better all-around game. Period. It's one of the few games where advancing higher actually makes the game more fun, and isn't the most fun at the beginning.

i so happen to like ffxi alot and i think its the best mmorpg out right now EQ sucks (my opionon) and i think whats fun about a game is that you can play for over 100 hours stright and still not have done everything and thats what ffxi bring to me and thats why i like it.
    1. its hard
    2.takes years to master(truely master)
    3. its gives me the very HUGE world i like in mmorpgs

theres my top 3 reasons why i like it

    1. Yes
    2. Not so much. This game has a fairly easy level curve once you figure out where the best leveling spots are. I would have to say that it doesn't take more than a couple of months to figure out how to REALLY master the game...(unless you are talking about trying to max out every single thing in the game)
    3. Actually this is my one HUGE complaint about FF11, which is so far my favorite MMO. The world appears huge, but it is in fact VERY small. The expansions are helping, but the reality of it is that EQ had a larger world before they put out thier first expansion than FF11 does. The world is big, and getting bigger, but for being huge....i'd seriously doubt that. They do need to expand the game a little more i'd say.

One other major complaint.....Could they please use less "Steep Mountain Side" zone walls? Nothing is more annoying than being out in the plains only to find a giant steep mountain wall that stands for the edge of the zone....it just seems wrong in my opinion.

Ideas presented here are free. They are presented for the community to use how they see fit. All I ask is just a thanks if they should be used.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

  • In terms customization there are 8 different race/gender comfigurations and with about 16 different faces each, and then 3 different height catagories. that is already 384 different appearances. And combine that with 5 slots and dozens of different appearances for each one, you can have a unique looking character.

ok thats a biased view, but im just doing the same thing others did and twisting the facts to sound different. However, the fact still remains that I have yet to see a carbon copy of myself in this game. There have always been differences between me and others, and im not talking about minute differences, there have always been 3 or 4 pieces of armor that look different and most likely we are different sizes.

and also I dont see where people get off calling FFXI a chore. Pts can be fun if you push the limit, try to perform skill chains, and most importantly, talk. Also there quests, missions, garrisons, ballista, crafts, farming, nm hunting... plenty of other things to do. So its a matter of letting yourself have fun not cut and dry is/isnt fun.

Ohwell... WoW and EQ2 will be coming out soon so alot of powergamers and ingrates will be switching and hopefully stop complaining about a game that doesnt satisfy their specific desires. People play this game, they have fun in this game, they defend this game. So dont say its bad and all of them are wrong just because you didnt like it.

  • Ramonski7Ramonski7 Member UncommonPosts: 2,662

Funny thing is most of these guys complaining have only scratched the surface of the game. I'm sorry but that level 25 warrior hardly qualifies you as a sound reviewer. And I'm sure there are some players that could slice any cons you may have about the game to shreds. As a matter of fact it's a known trait true of anyone who is playing a MMO they currently enjoy.....

Sorry but all facts hold true....FFXI is a bonified success with plenty of players across the world who will faithfully keep the boys/gals at SE's pockets phat. Now don't get me wrong, a success does not mean that it's the best for everyone. (I wish rabid haters would not cross the two)

FFXI is the best MMORGP out there (EQ2 doesn't count cause it's too new)

    My top three... hmm

    1) VERY HARD, its hard to gain lv... its hard to get money. But hey, what fun would it be if you got to lv 75 in one week with 4h a day playing? and have so much money that you could buy everything?

    2) SOme lag, like when someone uses a spell on you you stand still (only sometimes)

3)The great loss of EXP whyen dying.

Well if you didn't lose exp everyone would bloodport and people would just go and die all the time. now they take it carefull. But I think there should be a way to regain the loss exp (like that they would do a quest where you kill death itself and get all the lost exp back and never lose exp again)

  • stsestse Member Posts: 34

Yes this game is repetitive. There are a lot of games that are repetitive that are really good. But the fun part is what you do in between. The partying and missions that you do are fun. Those aren't repetitive. YOu must only be referring to the lvling (which is also repetitive). All other FF's requried you to lvl up and fight the montsers over and over. What is your complaint to that?

Indeed it is hard. And I agree with Free_D. Leveling needs to mean something. It really depends on what you want in this game. To look like a God and kill everything that is in your path? or to have fun doing missions and exploring all the things in Vanadiel, which is HUGE!!

Exp loss is a bad part true, but there is always a reason for that. Now, a real good argument is WHY do we lose levels ?? That sucks. It never happens in other FF's. I agree with EXP loss, but no lvl loss.

If you complain so much, you might as well move on. It seems your satisfaction of the game has already run out.

    It's not a bug in the software, it's a feature =).

  • Free_DFree_D Member Posts: 52

That was very good, no leveling down... Yea bet SE didn't think of it. But when players start to play WoW and EQ2 they have to change those things if they want people to stay in FFXi.

And I think they should make a quest where you fight death and when you defeat him you regain all the lost exp you lost by dying, and after that mission you will never lose EXP again.

  • stsestse Member Posts: 34

Yeah since WoW came out, I have been noticing less and less people in cities like Jeuno. Jeuno is usually packed (exaggerated). I am sure people would find WoW much more appealing as it is much more user friendly. I do hope the SE will try to do something to keep the players in though. Not losing exp is a great idea, but I don't know, killing death as a quest would be a little overkill. I would love the idea, but would that be fair?

Exp losses suck, but the loss of lvl sucks even more. You maybe rely on that level to use skills or equipment. This is one of the things that they should look out for. It's quite a turn off when you level and delevel like 3-4 times in one night. In a way, its embarrasing. But at the same time, you get more congratulations more ::::35::.

It is even hard for me to fend off WoW now since people at work are swtiching to that game. sigh....

    It's not a bug in the software, it's a feature =).

    It's not a bug in the software, it's a feature =).

  • Free_DFree_D Member Posts: 52

Yea, they have to change things if they want to keep players in FFXI. I've also seen a lot of people I knwo quitting FFXI for WoW but most of them are lv 50+ and they think they have done most of the things possible in FFXI. I have a lot left so I won't quit for another two years or so (unless I'm the only one left on the server).

A lot of my friends is going to play WoW too but I don't really care. I love FF and all other FF games so I want to keep with this until I have lv 75 and have done all the quests and have rank 10 in all countries, after that i'm done.

Wow, I guess ppl arent allowed to post their opinions here.. Too BAD!

FFXI is monotonous n time consuming. Either you love it for that, or you hate it for that. Now, in a day's "work" (which is wrong to begin with, becuz a game should not be like a CHORE -.-), I want to get some stuff done. I wanna be able to level, make money, n craft, ALL in one day, IRL time.

FFXI, cant do that. Wait 5 hrs for a party invite. After half a lvl, someone has to leave, usually this person is an important part of the party, meaning theyre hard to replace. So, either wait for another long, long time to replace that person, or look for another cpl hours for a new party.

So, say I finally lvl, a few hrs later. I wanna go make money, so I go change my sub job, n grab a chocobo for a long ride. OR, I could go mining (which takes some preperation), go logging (takes too long, cuz have to bring a few ppl along in the better places). Fine, I made some money.

Then I wanna craft. This requires quite a damn few logouts (to buy from regional vendors with mules) or many annoying chocobo rides, or wait for airships, take the boring airship ride...

BTW, if you wanna take a break from FFXI, it better be no longer than 3 months. After 81 days, your characters will be deleted, n you will need to buy a new box for a new CD key. All in all, its a terrible game compaired to all the competition out there. I really, really, REALLY feel sorry for anyone addicted to this game.

I DON'T understand why you say that you need take a break form FFXI longer thna 3 months?!

I took a break more than 3 months, still had my account, then I changed to EU FFXI so I deleted my AM content IDs and that account is STILL active!

The one who made up this lie is jsut someone who hates FFXI and wants more people to play his/her MMORPG. You do not need to buy a new copy off FFXI UNLESS you quit your PlayOnline account.

I hope I don't see another one of this stupid posts again where they complain about something that is not real. It's like saying that you computer blows up if you install EQ2, it's just the same ffs!
