WOW, hands down because if that noob game didn't get so many idiots to play it then none of these other companies would have designed their games to be almost direct copies of a lot of it.
I don't know about anybody else but IMO mindless questing has to be the worst thing ever brought to MMO's, especially when thats the only fast way to xp. So much for grouping and roaming to find cool stuff to kill. Don't get me wrong, I don't like forced grouping but it is fun to go do stuff with a group while leveling which is hard to do for more than a few minutes in WOW.
Im ready to spend years in this game but meh! Love the starting area! Love the PQ idea! But the rest of the PVE and BGs grind is just BORING..............
I think Another World game (www.awplanet.com) did pretty bad this year. I've been leveling my characters for 3 years in that game and the game looks like going to die any time soon.

Oh, and instanced PVP blows donkey dick.
Epic fail of the most incomprehensible and unfathomable proportions.
AoC with the complete lack of PvP competitive siege combat....all the above disapointments for AoC.
WAR is another complete disappointment. For the same reasons I'm not playing WoW, my god,how can they call themselves a mmorpg according to progressive standards (well, who can) with such a lack of PvP breadth and depth. Before my eyes started to bleed and my mind went numb from playing the same scenarios over and over and over and over again, I left.
I'd go with AoC for biggest dissipointment. Huge difference between what funcom said was in the game vrs. what actually was. The fanboy hype train probably didn't help much either.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

lol, pure comic genious. This has to be the most comdedic post of the year lol.
Warhammer Online promised decent PvP and didn't manage to live up to it. WAR I felt was a game that had potential to live up to the major part of the hype that was built about it; it was a fairly simple game that didn't aim to rework the concept of MMOs or try to be revolutionary like AoC. Even so it didn't manage to do it. Thus it becomes the biggest disappointment.
Definetaly Tabula Rasa, because at the time i was planing to play it, it just reported about closing. Well atleat it'll will be made f2p on January 10th.
Following the exact wording of the question, the biggest disappointment was WAR. It isnt the worst in this list, but those I had the highest hopes into, so relatively it was the greatest fall in esteem.

Spellborn for me, it gets the bad server / distribution WTF? award.
Spellborn for me as soon as they hooked up with acclaim i knew it was done before it started.
Voted for WAR. And its sure is the biggest dissapointment, waited for it for years and years and turned out to be just so... Not good..

It ain't worse than Mythic who hooked up with GOA again. That is my biggest dissapointment, damn it MJ, you should know better.

Looks as if Warhammer is in the lead, go figure.
