Darkfallonline.com site is down
So yeah, been trying for the past few hours to check out the site, and it appears to be down.
This COULD mean that they're updating something, or they could be having...err...'troubles'....
Not trolling, just wanted to stir the pot a bit while crossing my fingers that it's the former rather than tha latter...

Either way, the failed to connect error is not a good sign. No self respecting company lets their homepage go to a failed connect no matter what the circumstances.
I'm a DF fan but that is just bad web practice.
I've a gut feeling it'll be for "positive" results...Here's to hoping I'm right!

It has been mentioned on the official forums that there is a new windows update... but it could be for a new design/announcement...
In any case, Brannoc the community manager already stated it will be back shortly.

Yes, but updating a page never involves them going completely 404. There should be a "hey we're updating" page at the very least. Besides, who needs to rip down the whole page just to update it? That's not how updates or even complete overhauls work.
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

To back up Kordesh's statement with my computer equivilant of a peon's knowledge...
When I had my own website, it would update as soon as I uploaded a new page. So, having the 404 error points towards the server being down. I could be wrong in my prediction of things, but it does seem that way.
As to why the server's down, meh...

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
It's not a 404. It looks more like the server is up but they're blocking the viewing of the site.

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't get too excited. It was down a while ago when I was checking, hours before any mention popped up on the forums. and it would have been around like 4am in greece... I can't imagine them rolling out of bed to do something with the site that early when they could just as easily wait.
I remember the day they released that really long video and opened the beta sign-up. The devs were working long into the night that day. It was something like 10pm UK time (11 or 12 Greek time?) when they finally updated the site.
The irc was very interesting that day ^_^

Yeah but they took a 2 week vacation before they bothered finishing the video (if your talking about the one in August) So I'ad say they balance their hardcoreness

I hope that Brannoc's "soon" description, describing when the website will be back up, isn't the same as Aventurine's idea of "soon" for beta... that would take years...
I 've also got a good feeling there might be some postiive results from this downtime. It has been a long time since I remembered seeing the Darkfall site down for this long. However I could be totally wrong as usual lol.

It would be real interesting to see some of the responses and threads should the Darkfall website stay down for 2 days.. 4 days... a week.
I bet some DF fans would start turning into some of the biggest DF trolls ever seen on these threads here at mmorpg. com, lmao.
Not saying that I think that their site will stay down, just wondering how many long time DF fanbois would turn into screaming, angry mobs here on these boards on this website. I bet it would be extreme chaos considering how long some of these guys have had their hearts set on this game now. Hehe.
