I'm really excited for this game to be released here in the U.S. It's going to be a fun play, I already know it. In anticipation, I've looked over the classes and have decided on a couple of potential ones that I want to play.
First, the assassin I'm not going to play. The 'stealth and sneak' behind a mob to deal lots of damage doesn't appeal to me anymore. WoW killed that for me as I got tired of doing that for literally every mob to do any decent damage. Fighter classes can probably tank damage AND deal lots of it back. So no roguesassin for me.
That leads me to the next class: the fighter class. I'm most likely going to pick up the warrior branch and ultimately go for the templar class. A class that can tank, deal decent damage AND buff itself. Seems good to me.
I'm not going to try the mage branch because I'm pretty tired of the paper cannon concept. Unless the "tank" mage stigma works out pretty well, I'm not going to waste time with playing them.
The priest class is interesting and I will try them after I get bored with my templar. I just hope whichever class I decide to play doesn't get nerfed. Hahaha. What classes will you play?
Comments
well ill playe cleric cause i love healing and i very much enjoy being support class..very much depends on healers and i want to be very important person .. besides i played prist in wow for 2 years so it's very hard to give up on self-healing when needed and that stuff..tryed to play anotother classes but it just annoys me to w8 for a heal from another priest..
The sin is probably the best melee class in the game and the most overpopulated in OBT. I found rangers too be quit weak at lower lvls but this changes later on in the game I think. Of the best pvp classes I would have to give that to the sin's and scorc's. The scorc has some devastating CC skills when it comes to pvp. Cleric are also played by many in OBT, you see a lot of them using a staff when there out pve'ing, for the higher damage output. As for what i'll roll, I will play a chanter.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I'm torn between Sorcerer and Spiritmaster. I'm that one guy that voted Spiritmaster though...
Best class in beta 1...worst in beta 2....god help us!
Personally I believe they just need a way to make people attack the pet...or have all your damage transfer to the pet. Say that since your armor is higher than the pet that the pet would be a smarter target....than the caster itself....
I'll start with a Cleric. I normally play healers and they have been my mains in most of the games i played. But if the game keeps me playing long time (I really hope so) i'll try some more classes if not all.
Cleric for sure.
I always play healers in these kinds of games - everyone needs one, nobody wants to be *be* one, and i happen to be one of those strange freaks that likes group-based play.
just in my opinion, but in the past, classes that tank AND buff themselves have always come to end game criticism as "2nd rate tanks" never again will I play a paladin type class after both eq's lol....
Anyhow I'll probably go sorceror (another class that often takes a lot of criticism, but if you don't like it pure fighter or pure healer are the only classes that don't take criticism on that topic).
Simple pure damage dealer, nothing confusing just sit back and throw spells at targets randomly with eyes closed, that's surely the class for me.

re: Paladins, didn't play WoW did you?
Its a toss-up between Cleric and Assassin for me. Played both in open beta and found them to be very fun.

You wouldn't understand
no i only played wow for like 3 weeks, most of my experience is from Neverquest
judging from the aion video, i don't know if it was pvp or a npc controlled sorceror but it looks like that assassin tore him a new one lol
Templar.
To Tank.
To piss people off in PvP.
Mission Accomplished.
I will be playing an assassin. I love the rogue type classes and that's usually what I roll in most MMOs. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the 'sin in Aion can do.
While I will end up with probably one of each, I am torn between starting with a ranger, or as a sorcerer. Both I love to play, and both are equally pure dps. After that, I will go ahead and see if I can get all my toons reserved, since I have found great names for all!

Assassin, cause I enjoy the mentality and the playstyle, and from what I've seen Aion's assassin looks really fun.
I was going for the Spiritmaster, but in view of not having full fledged control over the pets, and I'm a control freak in that respect, I may have to go with the chanter. I usually go for the healer/buff types anyway.
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
Ranger, I love rangers
I will most likely play the tank class, from my understanding thats templar.
Edit: To answer the second part of the OP's question: I like playing tank classes. I will also make an alt sorc. As those are the only 2 classes that I ever play in MMO's seriously.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
I got yanked out of the sky by the templar grapnel skill a few times, Was most fun

totaly gonna play sorceress .. cause i like magic n stuff
err wait i got confused amongst all the posts, which classes (or subclasses) are going to have pets (preferrably controllable ones)
Spiritmasters have controllable pets. They come in the forms of Earth, Fire, Water and Wind(?) I believe. Also, they have many stages of evolution that they go through.
The first stages look kind of dumb, but the later stages are very cool.
Anyhow, I look at this game every 6 months so I don't get dissapointed. So I'm not following any classes, I'll just hop in and pick something random upon release.

You know now that I think about it, Thats probably the best way to do it.

funny thing, I already know exactly what I'll do, I'll try a mage for my first class...
Everyone will be playing a mage and i'll get bored of soloing and want to pick another class
so I'll pick a class that is highly needed in groups like a healer then after playing that for just the right amount of levels and I start looking for groups w/ the healer I'll try to find a group only to learn that 1 out of 5 players is currently playing a healer...
So I'll switch back to another class that has a pet (to keep me and my multiple personality development company) and play that solo for a long time, probably hit the max level and try to find a guild only to learn that it's a terrible raiding class and all the top guilds have too many of them and are looking for tanks/healers
So I'll make a tank and get it to the max level and find out that all the guilds sorceror's started playing fighters because they didn't have enough and now there's too many and no high end guild has room for tanks with non-raid equipment.
So I'll probably end up being an assassin afterwards and get it to the max level only to find they've had their damage nerfed and now hit for less dps than your average non-raid geared fighter (who now gets super critical hits)
So in the end i'll probably go back to my stupid sorceror who's only halfway to the max level and is stripped of all equipment because I was twinking my alts... then a new game will come out and i'll go play that instead because the server is overcrowded with high levels and twinks that have too much money and have ruined the economy...
Yeah, it's real.
