Star Trek all the way, I'm not a fan (as in I never watched the shows, not "I hate the lore") but it definitely looks good specially the fact it isnt level based unlike the rest on that pool.
Star Trek is just Champions online with a Star Trek skin, that screams "SUCK" to me.
I went with SWTOR.
Because so much is known about either game? Have you even read about STO?
I don't know who to pick. Bioware has a strong track record but STO is looking good. IMO more info is needed on each game.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

All these games you have posted are using older engines and were started at least 2-3 years ago.I think Stargate may be using UE3 ,but after seeing first glimpses i doubt it. We won't get a better view of all the games under development until 2009.I can tell you this, there is a TON of next gen MMOG's coming out in 2010,this may perhaps be the time when all the WOW bandwagon jumpers finally realize there are some great games out there. We are going to see REALISM in graphics and facial expressions,LARGE content areas with seamless worlds.I am amazed at how soon we will see this but a lot of the developers are claiming it is possible and we will be seeing it.
UE3 is not going to hold water against what companies like Red 5 is doing with the Project Offset engine.
Red 5 btw... is the people behind WoW gone solo, so while it might look as good as possible, chances are its not another wow-clone.
Currently graphical engine wise, this is the top 3 list:
If you think engines like the Cryengine 2 are powerful, then you have never played a Total War game. While the textures and rendering aren't as high quality as found in an FPS, there is no other game engine that can support 45,000 units, responding fighting and killing each other, not only that, but it first went 3D 5 years ago in ROME total war. Medieval 2 was released in 2006, and if you have a computer that can run 40k units on M2TW with max graphics, then big ass kudos to your comp, but its still a 3 yo game and Empire:Total war with a bigger better engine will be arriving in stores april 2009. No other game, Crysis or otherwise matches the sheer scope of these engines, and one thing people enjoy in MMO's are large scale pvp battlefields.
It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. -Quote Isoke(VN boards)
I voted other, the only MMOs that actually look like they might be good are Kingdom Under Fire 2 and as others have said whatever the Sqaure enix mmo is, I have never played the FF MMO but Square always make quality games so I am sure whatever they make will be good.
I would of said TCOS, but they have shot themself in the foot too many times, and it seems like the lastest mistake has missed the foot and landed in the head.
The first game is still between Wow and WAR in the X-fire statistic, the second biggest online RPG game now and ever. The programmer worked on Warcraft 3, Diablo and early Wow before. They know how to make good games and the graphics I seen look awesome. The game will also have true RvR.
I don't see any of those other games having a chanse, only companieas that can compete with it are Blizzard and Bioware. Also GW 2 will be quite hard.
DBZ seems to be a point-click-move MMO... i don't see how that can be close to Dragon Ball...
And i agree about Start Trek and Champions, i don't think Jack Emmert is capable of making a good game. It was him who nerfed CoH into a clone. Just look at CoV.
I voted for Darkfall. Is not that i really think it will be THAT good, but at least they are keeping their heads of the radar, and that makes me think it may not be a thurd.

If you think that Cryengine or Unreal Engine couldn't handle that then you're wrong. It's just good use of LOD.
Oh can play you with thousands of people at the same in D3?... fail.
You can't in Guild Wars either, but that's still listed as an MMORPG here.
Though to be fair, even Guild Wars devs have stated explicitly that it is not an MMORPG. Its listing here is an error. But if we're going to continue with this error we might as well add games like Diablo 3 as well.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
1) The smart money is on Champions Online: a game not on the poll. CoX is already a good game, but Cryptic will do even better with Champions. At worst, we'll get a game like CoX for both XBox 360 and PC. At best, we'll get the game that will be the gold standard for action/adventure MMOs to come.
2) The expectations are high for Star Wars TOR. The studio has the budget and the talent to pull it off, but this game is going to be a disappointment simply because the expectations, in my opinion, are too high.
3) Darkfall has to gain some credibility, since all it has right now is just 100% hype with no substance. If it launches, I expect Shadowbane or Vanguard type numbers.
4) I'll tell you right now, Huxley will never launch.
5) Jumpgate will have a significant cult following. The best thing it has going for it is its niche: there's no tactical space fighter MMO out there. However, it is similar enough to EVE that it might cut into the 200,000 or so EVE players who are looking for a fresh start.
6) Fallen Earth is going to have to make some tough decisions: how much do they want to innovate? Do they want to make a "worldy" or "gamey" MMO? Somehow, I think this is going to be the AoC of the next gen. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
7) Star Trek Online is only going to do well if it can appeal to Star Trek fans. There is a legion of them (even more than Star Wars fans), they are very fanatical, and very knowledgable about Star Trek. They are fiercley loyal to Star Trek, and they are unrelenting in their opposition to anything that "poses" as Star Trek. They are roleplayers, not fighters and looters. If the developers make this WoW with phasers in red uniforms, the Star Trek fans will revolt. If it is an immersive experience that allows the players to take on roles on a starship or DS-9, the game will succeed beyond the wildest dreams of the publishers. Tragically though, I don't think the devs and publishers understand this, which means the game will fail(HINT: this needs to be Second Life in red uniforms, not WoW in red uniforms).

I'm betting my money on Rapture (Working Title), it's Square-Enix's next MMO. If there's any company out there that can compete with Blizzard in the MMO genre, it's Square-Enix. I think they'll have learned from some of the mistakes with FFXI and in the end the game will turn out great.
I have been awaiting any info on this for a long time now. I am hoping that this years fan festival that they will give us some more info on it. If/when it comes out and if it tanks, it will be my last MMO I play as SE is my last hope in giving us a quality MMO.
It's great to see somebody else who's looking forward to the game. Hopefully we will get some more information soon, since the game has apparently been in development since 2005.

GRRR. compete? pfft Square Enix runs circles around the inept Blizzard staff. There is not even a comparison as to what Square can create/invent and what WOW can copy from Everquest.
Square is in a league of their own .Blizzard is so confident in there massive payroll and huge staff, that is why they were afraid to re hash Starcraft2.Only after they make loads of cash are they showing some cahoonas and even then it is re hashing old games lol.Blizzard is FAR from being an innovator, they do what they do best look for ways to copy other games and PREY there sheep follow the magical flute.
Blizzard =STAGNANT/non inovators/hype over quality.
Square Enix =moving forward/innovating/creating across ALL platforms, including phones/wii/ps3/xbox/Handhelds the whole shabam.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I voted for Stargate Worlds by CME. It is be designed as a MMOFPS for the most part, but with alot of classic MMO bells and whistles. Assuming that they stay true to the huge PvP potential of of it's IP and actually create the content they are planning on, then I believe that we will see the FPS crowd really enjoy and push this one. Right now CME's biggest issue is that the MMO Community as a whole knows little about this new game. CME needs to get the word out better.
If I had a second vote it would be Darkfall. Even with all the bad press, controversy is justas good for advertising a game as applause. A lot of MMO Players are watching what is happening with Darkfall and that alone will generate some sales and hype. I like the design of Darkfall (what I know of it) and I think it will be a winner assuming they meet their January 22nd 2009 launch date. Any further delays at this point could kill a good launch no matter how good the game is.
One very important thing that all future MMOs will need to compete in this marketplace is advertising. WoW is a good game, was designed well, had a good fanbase when it started out. But with even all that success was not guaranteed. IMHO what put WoW over the top in subscriptions was their aggressive marketing and PR campaign. Where I live almost every store larger than a convience store/gas station has the game for sale, even if it's only the $1.99 free trial disk. That kind of marketing I believe is what is responsible for a large share of WoW's continued success. Any new MMO in the future that wants to compete will have to follow in suit even just to break into the market with a good launch in subscriptions.

Guildwars 2 and it wasn't even on the list.

Also Fallen Earth looks very promissing.
Guild Wars 2 will probably break this terrible trend of bad MMO releases we've been expierencing.
Hopefully once Aion releases and the spotlight moves away from it we can see some more Guild Wars 2 information popping up.
Oh ya GW 2, can't wait. I really hope they don't try to become too WoW-like though .
Oh can play you with thousands of people at the same in D3?... fail.

Mortal Online
