I am definelty glad to see that their isnt as much flaming or trolling going on now since most of the haters have left. They must have gotten bored of AoC flaming and went to another game. It is now WaR flamming time!!!

When you are ahead 42-0  with  30 seconds left in the game, and the other team's quarterback is taking a knee.... you don't really push and try and get a last hit in.

Warhammer is a bit different, they are down 35-0 and there is still 2 minutes left in the game, and for some reason they are still trying to run the ball :)

But to be serious, a lot of it has to do with GG being gone.  The new people really don't go out and say really brash and annoying things.  They sound like they are firmly set in reality and are trying to make the game better.  You have to respect them for trying to give a good experience to their players.

It's only when people like cobra/pezz/ilovefuncom/whateveraltnameheusesthisweek  comes along and starts talking nonsence that people really start flaming.

I think that a lot of that also has to do with AoC falling off the MMO radar into the relative obscurity it probably deserves.  To be honest, I think few people pay attention to the game anymore, so it is now left to its current fans.

Seriously, AoC is the Vanguard of 2008.  How many people seriously pay attention to what happens with Vanguard, unless they play it?

I think it's just the playerbase coming closer to equilibrium.  Fewer outsiders will care, especially as new games continue to come out.

    Hmm I disagree.

More like all the people who are actually enjoying AoC are too busy playing it to bother with these forums.

Which left the flamers all alone... and the sad pandas were tired of hearing their own voices so they moved on to other topics.

Actually, I think the reduced flaming goes hand in hand with the vastly reduced overall traffic both this forum and the AoC forum have, which is also indicitive of how severely the playerbase has eroded in total.

AoC has become irrelevant to those that don't play it.

    And yet here you are.

Doesn't seem to me like you are playing AoC but it does seem like on some level it is relevant to you.

Besides despite AoC losing a lot of people in the beginning... It gains numerous players daily... and thats much more than the number of people who are leaving the game now. I don't think AoC is irrelevant in the least. As there are a lot more people waiting to return given the right conditions.

Apathy.  Folks have had their say and now they don't care.  Everyone has their opinions, no need to beat a dead horse.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the game is firmly where it belongs in a niche market and FUNCOM finally stopped lying and spinning things (or is it just that no one cares to listen)

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

I disagree.  I think that AoC still probably loses more people on a daily basis than they gain, and will do so until they merge the servers, or at least start offering character transfers.

I also don't believe that there are just thousands and thousands of people waiting on pins and needles for the "all clear" to come storming back to the game.  Most no longer care, and are playing something else, or are waiting for something new to try.

AoC's time for large gains has passed, I believe.  The best they can hope for is stabilizing the numbers they do have.  As long as that's enough to make money, as they consolidate the servers so they all have a good population so the current players can better enjoy the game, it doesn't really matter if the total pop stays roughly the same as it is now.

Games get the most flames the more popular they are, and in particular around release, when emotions tend to run higher.

Not many people bashing LOTRO now either.  The bash community has moved on to .. WAR, the latest release.  And of course, people bash WoW nonstop because it is the behemoth.  But for a settled game like AoC or LOTRO, not much interest to bash, really.

This comparison though is a little unfair it's one thing to play a game realize you don't like it and state that clearly which of course is going to always happen in any games let alone mmos but this game had a deceptive launch missing whole chunks of game buggy and unplayable for lot's spin and false advertisement abound, you'd be hard pressed to find these problems in LOTRO or most other games including WAR as I've stated WAR seems much more like a general disappontment hence the lack of scathing posts flying across the main boards here does it look bad on WAR forums sure because people generally aren't happy but it hasn't in my eyes reached the level that hatred of this putrid pile did and that had much more to do with the fact that too many of the problems this game had were avoidable.

I hear of more people rerolling and coming back than I do of people leaving these days. Most of the people returning are players who gave WAR and Wotlk a try and still felt something lacking. Are these numbers in the thousands? No, of course not. But a few dozen per week at least shows that the game is STILL bringing people back.

AoC still has the potential to be something great. Moreso than WAR, Darkfall or any other game in the near future.

...Of course, people come and go each day... but even a month ago are were a lot more people leaving in my opinion than coming. Whereas, now (in my opinion) I feel like more and more people are returning than leaving.

LOL.. From your posting history I know you want this to be the case. Your "wisdom" does however not walk hand in hand with facts. I got 2000 PvP XP today on a PvE server... jUst from minigames. My point is, PvE server is the worst possible PvP environment and when population is even good enough to get things going here, things are not quite as dark as old tired trolls want it to be.

So if you wanna troll AoC to death.. You have to drink your energy drink and get going again, becuse the job is fare from done. Actually, I think AoC activity has increased substancially since Ymirs Pass came out. My 0.02.
