I'm very opposed to Solo'ing in MMO's so I will let someone else awnser that.
The Burglur is nothing like wows rogue, most of the burglurs best abilities help a fellowship (party), they are more to with debuffing the enemy.
If you are looking for a damage dealer, I would pick a hunter, although you might find it hard to get a group if you ever chose to group.
what class does alot of dps then apart from mages and the hunter and well i want a group freindly class to lol but i dont wanna have to get a grp to kill every mob i se etc
Not really comparable to a WoW rogue.
The burglar is more complex in that, you have way less attacking skills than a WoW rogue, and more mezzing/CC skills. You can solo very well, ANY class in LOTRO can solo well, so thats not a problem. Hunter is probably the fastest and most damaging soloist. Runekeeper is fast but squishier than a hunter cause it wears light armor.
But again, any class can solo here so you can just choose the class that suits your style of play.
There is a opening newbie zone where you get a walkthrough intro of the characters. The best advice is you could really play through all the intros and when you can leave, try a new class. That will not take as long as you think. Getting to lv10 is easy and it will give you a good idea how they work.
"TO MICHAEL!"
I would have to say the hunter and now the warden are best at soloing. My main is a hunter and i have been playing him since the game launched and i now play a warden also. Wich the warden to me is the middle road between a hunter, champion for DPS and a guardian for defense.
Of course you first have to get the gambits for defense but the HOT's that the warden get make it very survivable in most cases. Once you learn the gambits you are pretty set.
I don't worry about an add coming up behind me on my warden unless it is an elite. It is a fun class to play cause the combat is quick paced to me anyway and you have to think about your attack sequance to be able to set of the gambit you want to set off for healing, defense or attack.
Hope this helps.
Don't discount Burglar's ability to solo just because they aren't primary DPS. Burglars are tricky, and as such require a lot of thought to be played well, but they solo wonderfully.
The warden has been designed as a soloing powerhouse, though not a huge DPS class, the hunter solos well, but I prefer my Champion to my hunter. Guardians solo well, the DPS is just a bit low.
Really, any class can solo well, just depends on what you want to do. DPS: Champion/hunter, Tank: Guardian/Warden, heal: Rune-Keeper/Minstreal, ect...
are wardens ment to tank more then anything? usualy on most games theyr ment as healers or something
Wardens are ment to be a seconadary tank. they can not tank as good as a guardian but they tank better than a captain.
To me the warden is an all purpose character. Cause it can buff it's defense, HOT's and has some massive DPS attacks. the only thing it can't do is cast magic. But that is my opinion and i am sure others have differant opinions on the warden.
Also no class in this game can be compared to other games that have similar named classes. Cause they just dont work the same.
will people invite a warden to the g roup tho if they have a tank already is it that kind of class? i hated that from eq2 where so many tank classes etc
Actually yes they will . Cause though a warden can tank as a secondary role. It's main role in a group is DPS. I have been in many groups with my warden. though i mainly solo with him. there are really only three classes that can tank at all or who are ment to do any tanking and that is the guardian the main tank, and captain and warden as a secondary tank. though a burglar can tank also i have seen them do so.
