You can quest or grind, after lvl 20 there isnt much questing at all, its heavily group oriented on "elite" mobs..the fastest way to get up past 20 is grinding full parties.
And the quest system isnt like WoW in the first place, you dont goto a town or w/e and get like 10-20 quests, then have to run around from point A to B and back again spending 3/4 of your time just running around...the mobs you kill are always in the immediate area of the quest giver...picture it like L2 (if you've played), you finish EG, you move on to cruma and then there will be quests for you inside cruma. Its set up so that wherever you are hunting (a camp, cave, field of mobs, etc...) you will have sufficient quests to hunt there until you are too high level for that area..then you move on to the next area, kind of like grinding in a spot with some objectives that will give you money, exp and items...its not running from point A to B all the time and then leaving once you have killed the 10 mobs or whatever.

And lol at autofollow being "easy mode" while you're used to WoW....WoW is the definition of an easy mode MMO. And its not like auto-follow would be an advantage, even in click based games like L2 you dont run around trying to attack someone by using the autofollow/attack...you would just follow their trail and never gain any ground on them, you only use the autofollow/attack when you are right at the target.

I was kinda joking but thanks for clearing that up(and for calling me stupid)

Please read my post clearly. I said auto-target, not auto-follow (if you were referring to me btw.) From what I know, the mechanic is that when you attack, you don't have to face your opponent... rather, it automatically targets/faces and hits. And when I meant click, I meant people that do not use binded keys and click skills which leads to lack of character controls, slow movement, slow reaction, etc. Clickers in WoW are infamous for being scrubs

Because WoW isn't made for clicking.

And you can face wherever you want and wait for the delay on a skill for your char to turn around, then attack..or you can just keep your char faced at the target like you would in WoW...one is obviously going to be more beneficial.

And to up above, I'm sorry but I'm just amazed at how many people will read one thing, then quote it out of context and post things like "lol not playing this game" or "thanks for saving me $50 on this game" when what they are saying is not true. It's ignorant slander...someone's going to come in here and read that, then not want to play all because of some slander/lies that a retard who was too lazy to look up anything themselves, posted without any validity.

Another example is that "why is it so expensive to play?" thread...every p2p game in Korea has an hourly limit, its not going to be the same here..but you have pages of retards saying "lol not playing this stupid game", etc...I find it amazing how stupid people are to start spreading slander like that...At least if you're going to make ignorant assumptions that you don't want to play the game, dont spread lies to damage it.

I wish people like that would just stick to their watered down World of Casual craft and avoid all other games.

Auto-facing was a deal breaker for me too. This was made even worse with the fact that a lot of my skills made me not being able to move. I didn't feel like i was in control during the battles.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't notice this thread was so old. I'm a bit tired :/

Shadowhand, you will be extremely pleased with character customization.

there are preset faces you can work off of or you can just cycle through the 25+... more in some cases, faces and then work from those.

On the left top you have about 7 to 9 options of preset faces with chosen hair and color. You can modify these any way you want.

On the left bottom you have about 7 choices of bodies. from lean to muscular to stocky (read "not fat") to, er... a bit out of shape. Youc an modify these as well. I have read that they are also adding arm and leg length sliders.

On the right you can cycle through 25+... maybe in the 30's for women? faces. Same with hair though I think as of this beta there were about 20? hair choices. You can color the hair with set colors or use the color pallette. Same with skin. You can then choose another tab and alter thiings like chin, eye shape, etc. Almost as powerful as oblivion and I would say definitely better than Age of Conan. You can make similar changes with the body. As of this past beta you can't pick eye color and had to accept what the face gave but I've read that this has been added.

You can also pick a voice pack. These betas have not had them because the translations have not been finished.

Oh, as far as size, youc an be tall and stately at about 9' (someone feel free to correct that size but I think it's right) or as small and pixieish as 3'.

the "boxes" around the characters are the same so it's easy enough to target a small character as it is a large character.

oops.. .didn't know it was old either. lol... oh well.

    Nice review, well done.

It sounds like a good game, it also sounds like a game I've played before, or rather most every game out there right now.

What stands out as different in Aion besides flying? the gear the quests the classes, it all sounds like the same thing + flying...

It's an MMO, what do you expect?  If they add things that are "different", people will be whining and crying because it's not a "real" mmo.
