... it looks crap idd :p

I dont care a bit. Or i rather dont worry about it. Pretend that you can see the gameplay as clearly as the graphics in other MMOs.......then you would also stop caring. Just look at some of the best looking MMOs out there.  If we say that DF have 5/5 in graphics and gameplay. What would AoC and WoW get?

You know this thread wasn't needed Opium. But that's beside the point. I'm shocked to see what appears to resemble some stone texture off to the left hand side. Grab a simple rock texture photo from the net, resize it to 256x256, open it up in crazybump or mapzone and you can create a more realistic looking texture. It very well could be messed up due to whatever conversion they use for SS's in the game. Nevertheless it looks bad. Hey, didn't they say thier AI resembles Quake AI. Not that Quake Ai was any good, heh.

Hate to break it to you but part of good gameplay IS graphics.

I used to play Asheron's Call back in the day and it had some of the best gameplay ever.

Would I play it now? Hell no. Does anyone play it now? Hell no.  Because the graphics are terrible and totally ruin any feeling of immersion.

I agree with you that DF has good, sometimes great graphics.

eg: compare your OP screenshot to this one from AoC. i especially like the ground texture.

Honestly, they're okay, but certainly not the best of any MMO.  On the other hand, I'm not sure the DF devs set out to make the best looking graphics.  What they have here is adaquate IMO -- not cutting edge, but probably middle of the road for current MMOs.   There's no sense in getting all worked up and saying the graphics are the best or worst ever.  Neither of those statements would be true.

this game will be like going back to Elder Scrolls: Morrowind but as a MMO which I really love and since Bethesda is not releasing any TES MMO, Darkfall will be my TES online

You need to stop smoking your name, So many more games have way better Graphics and support DX10 or even OpenGL with full SM3 support.

    DF Graphics = meh

    Perfectly reasonable graphics imo.

We don't even know what graphics settings they were using. Either way, I'd be willing to give it a pass if the gameplay turns out to what is expected.

Look at WAR's graphics, they are hardly even close to cutting edge. If WAR's graphics are cutting edge, then I must be living in a hole.

Graphics is very much personal, especially the graphic style.

Darkfall have the best graphic style of any MMORPG released so far as i see it.

To reason on graphics is impossible. Im glad that Darkfall have gotten this far in theirs especially when it will hold epic battles with 200 vs 200 with 60 FPS.

The problem is you are being very unfair.

You guys scream about having a game that doesn't follow in the WoW footsteps. But seriously, how many large developers are going to step up and try it?

You are almost like the American Media. Or any Media for that matter? You'll love your "Star" as long as they keep rising, but once there is the realization that they are human it's jump all over them until they are down.

It's perfectly ok for Dark Fall to have graphics like this. Quite frankly I'm surprised a small developement studio did so well.

You have to let graphics go. At least when it comes to small games studios trying to offer something different.

And believe me, I'm the biggest graphics whore here. However, I have no interest in Dark Fall as I have no interest in the gameplay it offers. But if it did offer gameplay I was interested in, then sure, why not.

If you are not going to give the small devs a chance then quite frankly I can assure you there is no hope of something different on the landscape.

It takes a lot of money to make these things and an even greater chance at failure. Why any company would enter this market is beyond me. Why anyone would invest is beyond me as well, yet there are people who do.

If Darkfall is successful it will do exactly what it is supposed to do. Give players a more hardcore world in which to play. It will offer an alternative. so for a very small but devoted developer I think they at least deserver the chance.

Oh sure, there is a reality to the whole thing in that they will have to deliver on gameplay. No getting around that.

But as someone said, it could be seen in the light of Morrowind. Well, I played Morrowind for 2 years very hardore and thought it was one of the most beautiful games ever made. Can it stand up to today's standards? No.

But it dwarfs what came before it in graphics. So just think of your favorite Atari game from yesteryear and you will suddenly have a whole new appreciation for Dark Fall's graphics.

Besides, I think the sentiment is that the people who are playing Darkfall will not care about its graphics.

You must be talking about poorly written graphics engines, or better yet. You must be talking about MMO companies that purchase pre-made engines and cant even rewrite the core graphics engine to be usable with more than 5 players onscreen, yeah thats it.

Graphics won't matter because for the most part they are acceptable. I don't want another AoC where graphics are "good" but gameplay is full of instances and large scales battles are a joke of lag. People that are into cutting edge graphics should go back and play single player games.

You mean like AoC, which was based on the year 2000 Dreamworld engine that was used in AO?

I for one loved those 5SPF AoC sieges with only 25v25.

    Wow.

People REALLY need to get their sarcasm meters looked at.

    Sheesh.

Hehe what a load of BS! Check with aventurine even, and get your facts straight. DF does not and has not ever had 200 vs 200 battles. They did 100 vs 100 hell if you can't even be honest about the facts aventurine claims then your sure as hell lieing about everything else (in this case the graphics) Come back when you know alittle about the game your defending
