Quests and Grouping

dsorrentdsorrent Member CommonPosts: 1,627

When I was on the Isle of Refuge, someone mentioned something which I found odd.  Is it true that you can't enter a instantiated quest if you don't actually have the quest yourself?  For instance, lets say I'm online for an hour playing and I start off some multi-part quest.  Then some of my friends login.  They can't group up with me for the remainder of the quest because they didn't get it from the start?

I think they should at least be allowed to enter the dungeons or whatever with me even if they don't reap the benefits of the end reward.

Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

It is true. You cannot enter an instance if you do NOT have the quest to go there. But not all instances require you to quest to enter. In fact I only know of the orc cave on the refugee island.

If one person has the quest for the Instance , as long as they are grouped with the person who has it , anyone in group can get into the instance(sometimes there will be a lockout timer for some people who had just done the quest tho).

It pretty much depends what quest it is. There are some that everyone needs, isle of refuge one is the only one have seen so far. There is the light house one in antonica but all i know about that is that you just need to have a group to enter.

I was able to join a group going into the orc caves without actually having the quest /shrug. There have been many other Instance quests i've gotten and the only requirement is 3-6 people must be in group , while you can be the only one with the actual quest. If no one has the quest, obviously you cant enter the instanced zone. Now some have a lockout timer from when you completed so if ya try to enter an instance with a group and your lockout timer isnt up yet , you'll be the only one not allowed in.
