KotBS vs. Chosen

Knight of the Blazing Sun is currently much more powerful than the chosen class, which has always been underpowered imo. I really think they need to buff Chosen to make them equal to KotBS.

I believe it's been stated that KotBS will be used as a template to balance Chosen around sometime in the near term.

With the hundreds of thousands of chosen running around atm, I think a buff/nerf could wait a while till they manage to even the factions out a little : p

The game is about balance on the whole, not indivdual. So I voted leave it alone, till we see how the BG affects the overall cause if the BG dominates, then no chosen does need a buff and sun does not need a nerf.

    Enjoy : )

I am surprised you are surprised. Mythic has followed the policy to support the faction who needs a buff, and currently most agree Order needs one. I am quite sure thats purpose and going to stay until the balance of power changes.

OP should know that the Chosen was also buffed in this patch. I still voed buff the chosen though because a little bit more lovin' wouldnt be that bad.

In addition, Destruction's QQ is unbearable these days. Order finally has sufficient tank numbers and all the zerglings are whining that they finally have to put up with a wall of tanks that protects order's main force... even though destro themselves were always chokeful of tanks.

So yeah, your Witch Elves are not unbeatable now in smaller encounters.... QQ more.

think this is off topic somewhat....

Anyway having played a chosen up to lvl 40 i can say, in comparison to other classes i have played (including Order) to Tier 4 that Chosen has very little active utility. Their main focus is aruas which had a reduction in cost although the cost wasnt really a problem and if it was there is a 'no-aura cost' tactic, the problem is that we cant cast auras in melee (where they are benificial) cause of the stuns and other cc, or just becaue of the fact that they bugg like hell and all light up as those they are all activated.

The chosen is a tank and in comparison to other tanks are probably the worst. For most (all except BB) other tanks are used as MT cause BO are generally better in PvE, they also last longer in PvP and can endure that a tank is meant to endure. If the BG proves to be even half as good as the IB then the future use of Chosen as a viale tank in PvP or PvE is reduced.

The balance in a game might be realm vs realm but that is certainly not the way to keep subs, especially for those who have been playing UP classes from the outset.

I don't agree that KoTbS is much more powerful than the chosen. I have a level 28 chosen and just started a kotbs and got him to level 6 today, and essentialy , they are the same thing!! The knight didn't seem much stronger if at all than the chosen, but i agree there are a lot of bugs with the chosen that need to be fixed as mentioned before.

Not entirely sure about how good/bad Knights of the Blazing Sun actually are, however they do seem quite overpowered from theoretic perspective. On Your Guard! at a high specc and maintained constantly will manage to soften up their casters quite a lot, add To Victory! to that and you can kill their casters quite easily too. Gather Your Resolve! in combination with some Bright Wizards will also be... nice. My opinion thus far would be to nerf KotBS rather than buff Chosen as Chosen already are quite good, and buffing them more would make them overpowered.

I'm just curious. Is this supposedly true across all servers? Because on Phoenix throne, no matter what tier you go to, Order outnumbers Dest. by like, 3 to 1. It's been this way for awhile.

Some abilities of KOTBS are pretty overpowered, On your guard being one, that's far too much reflective damage (I play a marauder, and 1 demolition into a group of 6 order would hit me for nearly 1k reflective damage - that's 1k damage per 1.5 seconds to any melee doing aoe, too much - and forget even trying to do a wrecking ball into a group of order, you'll get insta-killed for trying it)

I'd say some of the KOTBS abilities are too good, and chosen definitely either needs to be buffed up to those abilities, or KOTBS nerfed to the chosen level :)

I too voted for leave it alone

    We needed an empire tank

i never had 1 v1 pvp actually except from being ganked .We need to see when Tank hits Tier 2 the overall picture.

I don't think Chosen are underpowered, and we don't really know how KBS will actually perform in a normal group setting yet.

Yeah, their auras + the proper tactics are pretty sweet, but auras and not dying is almost all KBS is.  Chosen (at least discord spec) is an amazingly solid class, with the extra perk of auras.

Minor edit: On Your Guard does seem a bit nuts.  But then again, so did force feeding bright wizards 1200 damage off every AOE in Tor Anroc last night, but it was delicious.

I like what those abilities do, personally.  The whole point of the tank is to interfere with the enemy group and protect friendly softies.  Most people would agree that tanks are typically ignored as targets until EVERYTHING ELSE is dead because A) they're hard to kill and B) they're such a non-threat that they can be safely ignored.  Abilities like On Your Guard and Discordant Flux (with the new aura buffs) make us a higher priority.  Want to AOE?  You better focus fire that tank first.  I like that.

One thing they DO need to do, however, is actually do what they said in the patch notes.

Chosen abilities Quake, Bane Shield, and Blast Wave were originally INT-based magic (disruptable) magic attacks.

After the patch, they were supposed to be STR-based 'melee' (parry-able) attacks.

Well, the parry-able part kicked in.  The removal of the INT mod kicked in.  The STR bonus did not.

So, not only did they not fix the abilities, they made them universally worse.  They do less damage and they are easier to avoid (parry is more common than disrupt).  Just an oversight on their part but would probably be helpful if as many people bug report it as possible.
