I was Spawnarak', one of the leaders of Paragon Federation back in pre-CU SWG. My guild and two brother guilds built the first metropolis in Chilastra.
I created two slideshows of screenshots, which are pretty nostalgic. I warn you that if you're a veteran of pre-CU SWG, it will be emotional :P
-Massive PvP battles, including base destruction and AT-ST killing
-Large scale charges across planets
-Shots of Crystal Valley, the first metropolis in the server.
-Commando heavy weaponry in action.
-Force-using NPC fights, epic Krayt Dragon hunts, etc.
-Operation Barricade: The 'nuclear weapon' big-time Rebel thing of the era, which featured three maxed out bases fortified by a ring of houses to optimize chokepoints.
-A retaliation battle called the "Dantooine Charge" that resulted in 7 Imperial player bases destroyed. It was in retaliation of their attack on Operation Barricade while it was bugged and SOE didn't fix it.
Enjoy the screenshots. There are two slideshows.
I mention many names that some of you might remember. You might even see them. If you know anyone from Chilastra during the pre-CU days, show them these slideshows.

I've been on Chilly since July 03 (month after launch) and I can't say I remember those names (except for Cobe in one of the later pics) but I never really mingled with Rebels Maybe Inat will remember.
i simply can't read the names... i was looking at the dantooine map since i've lived there for 4.75 years to see where they lived but jst couldnt read it, maybe i need a new monitor?

Ah, that's because the resolution was decreased when I created the slideshow. I have all the screenshots saved in my folder at full resolution. Here are the key pics in better detail:

2nd Edit: Links don't work either. I'll post the actual links later :P

Looking at the old Pre-CU UI and the massive party sizes was a sight to behold.
But it's gone now. All gone.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)
group sizes are the same, you just roll with 3 groups of eight. On poplated servers, its nothing to have 3-4 groups on each side pvping

huh?
huh?
meaning, you still have the massive groups, they're jsut divided into 8 man groups now instead of a single 20 person group

Massive groups? I don't think so. Not in the early days of the NGE when I left.
Definitely not today when I watched my sister play this past holiday weekend.

group sizes are not the same. They were 20, now they're 8.
1 group != groups of groups
Alright well here's a big part of Chilastra all of you have to remember. I try to chronicle all my pre-CU stuff and links, and you guys probably already know about Stettin but:

Warning: Serious case of pre-CU contained hereth.

it all depends on the server. Again, I'm surprised that all the vets here happened to have played on the servers that lost their populations. Can't wait for SOE to debut the free server transfers. . .

it shouldn't be that surprising. The low population servers constitute the vast majority and the so called populated servers are less populated than vets remember.

Ahazi was my character's home. I get a chance to go in and see it with my old toon, since I handed my old account to my sister, who never deleted the character.
Ahazi **used** to be one of the most populated servers in the old Pre-CU days, and even in the CU era itself. But when I last went in to view Ahazi, it was not even worthy of calling it a "mere shadow of it's old self." It was dead, dead, dead. To make matters worse were seeing old shops / ads / signs from long gone crafters from the Pre-NGE days. You could tell by 1 or 2 ways with signs saying:
1) Advertisements of equipment using stats / values that disappeared with the advent of the NGE.
2) F**k SOE signs.
My sister's toons are on Sunrunner. And Sunrunner is just... Sunrunner.

Well one of these days SOE just has to admit they screwed up. They just have too much pride. These screenshots are sometimes depressing to look at - the sheer amount of potential that was destroyed is simply fubar in its strictest form.
F****ed Up Beyond All Repair
I've been trying to get back in contact with some old Chilastra vets so I published a fully detailed article describing the player city.
It's a decent read as far as the comments ago, check it out:
Crystal Valley
that was a good read. Its sad that NGE players miss out on the whole city-building experience.
I still cannot for the life of me remember your city. I've been a resident of Dantooine since i left my shack outside Kor Vella in late '03
I helped found the city of Canejo in the NE corner of the map and then helped move it south of Imp OP a year or so later, which is where it still remains.
There were lots of cool battles on Dantooine - High Taikaha, Sacred Nemesis, Olympus, Andraseth, and to a lesser extent, Hegemonia. That was back when bases were expensive and city residents were proud to have a defend a base in their city. People are trying to get that back but it just ain't happenin'. NGE players are a different breed

Really nice slide shows. Good to see a record of SWG in all its glory. What a pity SOE decided to destroy it. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Transdoshans were hard to play too.
