Looking for a good MMO

cpoustiecpoustie Member Posts: 32

As the title states im looking for a 'good' MMO.  I've played wow for the last 3 years and i'm sick and tired of it.  Having bought the expansion, i played for a week got to lvl 71 (yes that's how motivated i was) and realised that the lvl, grind rep and raid formula doesn't do it for me any longer.

So, I have turned to you, the mmorpg community in the hopes you can point me in the right direction.  The game I'm looking for should have meaningful crafting, even if it is time consuming, like FFXI for instance.  It needs to foster a sense of belonging and community.  That is to say I want to make friends and play together, not 'wow style' guilds of individuals who are simply there to get all the loot they can then move to a 'better' guild.  Pvp, has it's place but I do prefer it to be consentual rather than open slather.  While I will kill people I admit to being a 'carebear' and don't like pvp getting in the way of my pve.

Finally, it will need to cater to have enough depth to keep me playing at least 2 + years, and having a pyhysic al disability  I generally range from 12 -18 hrs a day on my pc.  Any suggestions you have which would fit those criteria please feel free to post and suggest.  MMO I have played in the past are mainly FFXI, WoW and EVE, so they would possible be ruled out, though I do still dabble with FFXI from time to time since I just love the final fantasy franchise :)

I'm in the same boat as you.  I got to 73, and I'm bored out of my mind.  I have no motivation to keep doing the same boring quests over and over.

I've been debating going back to EQ2.

If you can bare something that is a bit of a slower pace but does require more thinking, try the Pirates of The Burning Sea a go.. Make sure you join a decent server and a decent guild.. since the economy is very player reliant. It was a good game, but once i got to level cap i just couldnt stay interested in the game as i was always on the losing side :|

But yeah atm im really bored with Current MMO's. I loved the PvP in AoC but it was just so unfinished.. Played wow for 2 years, eve, warhammer, lorto trial and nothing is getting a hold of me :( ive kinda given up with current mmo's and waiting to try some new ones that are coming out such as Darkfall, Aion, Mortal Online, stargate worlds and the new star wars mmo. Lets hope on of them is good and comes out soon!

I'm with you on that.  However, I have heard that EQ2 has become soloable quest-happy.  Not my idea of a game world.

Atlantica - So many crafting jobs you can choose from. It's next to impossible to learn them all. If you wanna do this for a living, focus on just one LOL.

Unfortunately there really arent any good mmos around at the moment. I've given up on them and gone back to playing single player games which is hardly much of a change anyway considering most of the mmos have become solo friendly anyway. Welcome to the waiting club

I don't think there are many MMO options out there that would fit you. Playing 12-18 hours a day I couldn't imagine a F2P game, such as Atlantica Online, would last very long. You will definately want to look towards the P2P games. I'd suggest checking out Aion and avoiding Darkfall & Mortal Online since those games are primarily pvp.

As for wanting a game that is more about community than loot I think you just need to find that special type of guild/group of people who are looking for the same thing. No matter what MMO there will always be people on both sides. Not that that one or the other is bad... they just have a different versions of fun.
