Phoenix Throne hits population cap after new patch excitement, starts queuing

Must be a good number of people that logged into the game today to check out the latest new patch changes and new classes, Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun. We haven't seen a queue on Phoenix Throne like this since the first couple of weeks of release when they were raising the prelaunch population caps.

Any other servers seeing the same kind of popularity and excitement in reaction to the changes?

Queuing can be annoying when you want to just get in and play, but knowing that enough people are trying to get in to cause a queue to form is very interesting!

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

Well its midnight now so pops have died down some. The queues first appeared around 8:00PM according to other posters (I was in game at the time so didn't notice it until i had relogged later) but looks like Dark Crag still has one. I took the below  screenshot a minute ago.

I expect we will see the same thing the next few days, and especially next week, when the two new classes open themselves up to everyone (not just the ones that won the heavy metal event)

Lot of servers med/med or higher.  Good to see the hard work Mythic has put in since release to make the game ven better pay off.  Hope to more great content in the near future.

Grunties I hate to tell you this but a lot of people logged in tonight to see how the Black Guards were and to be honest with you after seeing how Mythic, Mark and the dev team, single handedly @#$%ed up the reputation of the Black guards being big and bad in lore and stories (Malekith would be ashamed of this army).

This class doesn't mimic the IB in the least, I seen one lone Iron break take on five of these guys and slaughtered the hell out of them. This class is nothing more than more of Mythic's over hype. Hell, after seeing how terrible this class was tonight I'm seriously thinking about going back to Vanguard as my second game with WOW being my first.

Congratulations Mythic, you just polished and perfected the  Pansy ass, clown fodder class in the Warhammer universe (this class needs some serious balancing ladies and gentleman).

DON'T be fooled by these lovers of a boring ass game ladies and gentleman, I speak the truth.

Oh, did you forget to tell everyone on here that everyone and their grand papa was playing Black guards tonight (server full of Black Guards)?

I know a few people myself who like the game and see its potential, but don't feel like playing a newly released MMO, but are planning on resubbing once a few things are fixed. I'm sure they're not alone, and that, in combination with WotLK no longer being "brand new" is probably what you're seeing on your server. And some players of sub-par classes who have been bugged are seeing a good reason to come back as well.

1.0.6 gives people the excuse they need.

Also heard a lot of good stuff about the KotBS and the BG from those who've played them, so looking forward to trying them out.

In future before moaning check your facts. BG is not supposed to mimic IB. BG is mirror of SM. Now continue your QQ.

The Blackguard is the mirror of the Ironbreaker  and the black orc is the mirror of the swordmaster.

Yeah, I QQ more because you sir don't know YOUR facts and before you post read up on what class is suppose to mirror what. As the poster above corrected YOU, Black Guards are the mirror of Iron breakers.

And I'm not crying more what is "QQ" anyways did you get a leet speak degree from highschool for that?

Sorry, I can't comment on the Black Guard side, I play Order. But I would hope this stance is based on experience with the class throughout all levels and with equally equipped opponents. and not just a knee jerk reaction to performance at tier 1 with a naked toon. Tanks are mostly late bloomers in this game. And certainly not an automatic I win button like some people want.

I'd really need to see some widespread agreement on that, there are a lot of factors that could have resulted in that situation. Was the BG low level with bad equipment compared to high level and well equipped IB's? I have doubts enough IB's were even playing the game last night to test this adaquately, everyone was playing KoTBS on order :)

I think if it was that bad some red flags would have gone up during the public testing process. People have been testing the class for weeks on the test server.

Well, at least now I know the motivation behind the rest of your post. I probably would have left that part out though.
Oh, did you forget to tell everyone on here that everyone and their grand papa was playing Black guards tonight (server full of Black Guards)?

Heh, I didn't forget to tell anyone anything. Everyone on order was playing KoTBS, which is the side I play on. It is not unexpected that everyone is going to give a new class a try the day it is released to the public. Haven't seen one game in history where that wasn't the case. It will even out in a few weeks and people decide which classes they want to stick with.
But we've gone a little off track. This really isn't about discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the new classes, but rather the change on server populations as the result of the patch. I've noticed positive changes on my server, and it seems like several others are in the same boat, at least for now.

In September, AOC launched a big pvp patch that was hyped for months.   The populations of the servers almost doubled....... for 3 days..... then it went down below the level it was before the patch.

There was a lot of hype for the 'new classes'.  But I don't think it will take long for people to realize they are the same classes that were pulled before launch because they weren't very good.  They have now been brought back in nearly the same state as they were in July.  Of course people with an active subscription who don't play are going to log back in and give them a try.  The new classes are at best, even with the most unpopular classes in the game.  There is nothing about the new classes that is going to make a person who already quit, decide to resub.  The increase you are seeing is people with an active account who no longer play, or barely play, same as the AOC patch.

Telling people to 'play them til teir 4' is just a way to sucker them into resubscribing.  The game did not get drastically better in teir 4 for the other classes, no reason it will for the two 'new' classes.

Not the case. Not sure where you get your information from, but your source is very much incorrect. The Black Guard wasn't even in the closed beta, though the knight was briefly.

In 3 days it will be the weekend...I am sure you wont be back to take your medicine.  Fact of the matter is, there has been more action the past few weeks in PQs and RVR then I have seen since release.  Things are looking up and for that I am so very sad for people like you.  Now, shouldnt you be grinding for some gear and rep with your DK  ?

Total failure of a post, shear speculation on your part. You have done somewhat better in the past in some of your posts, but not today.

Actually I agree with Peaquop. PLZ don't compare a game that at least works, with AoC. Thx.

Here's where you are falling short in your logic:

The only people playing BG and KotBS are people that completed the live event over the course of a week. This means that the daily tasks that needed to be completed were done by people with active accounts and playing. The people who have "come back" in fact have been here for a week or longer.

The people you see coming back are in fact people that are looking for more stability in tier 4 gameplay as well as the toning down (or up) of abilities based on stats which has happened and people are enjoying themselves.

All RVR everywhere is full, scenarios que within 10 seconds, and PQs are packed with players in tier 1-4. WAR is not WoW in subscriber base, it probably never will be, but the fact that the game is thriving and has been since round 1 of the server transfers can't be denied either. Maybe they won't gain any more subs than what they have right now, but when server pops start capping on servers you gotta think people who aren't convinced to at least give the game a try are now grabbing a copy.
