Didn't it, though? All this hype about a 'secret mmo' to end up being a damn racing game mmo? Sigh.. I know it's old news, but I still sigh at it.

Yeah I was in at the begining of this, then lost interest once a I realized Acclaim sucks.
Yeah - that was a sad state of affairs. Brilliant marketing - no business sense nor vision. Cannot let nintendo kiddies DECIDE the fate of a multimillion-$ projects. Sad.
LOL yeah i was active in the forum for the longest time ... but was overrided by the thousands crying for a pokeman racing game.... after i heard that concept (not sure if that ever went through) and the people excited about the concept i said that was enough for me.
is it gonna be like drift city? if so.. yippee!! no need to show my poor skill when i can have godly equipments and ingame money is not a problem since online games is currupted! i can be rich easily and theres cool cash shop item at my disposal! i can boost up large stats and make my car fix super fast with it! no way they can beat me! i can even make my low lv items equal or much greater than a higher lv items! my speed, accel, boost length is superior than higher levels! ima make a +14 of all my equipments! i am god!

High Level win, Better Equipment win, Cash Shopper win, Ingame Currency Buyers win.
each levelup all your stat raise like top-speed, accel, boost length. equipment raise massive amount of stats. overpowered cash shop items that raise stats. cash shopper also get a special fixer girl that fix your car almost instantly when crash while normal players have slow fix time. so it dont matter if they suck and crash alot cause it fix almost instantly. theres also this cash shop boost that adds +10 boost point.. which is alot and matter. rich players can also buy godly equipments or even enhance their own items.. fail and do again fail and do again non stop since money is not an object to them, they can create an insane monster equipments.
sure skill is there but it is over-thrown by stats, level, cash shop, equipment. this is not a race of skill.. it is a race of who got godly-er equipment, who got no-er life, whos hardcore-er doing illegal activities, who higher level.
normal lv40 no way can win normal lv70.
normal lv27 lose to hardcore cash shopper lv14
normal lv84 lose to hardcore cash shopper lv62
normal lv41 v6 loose to hardcore cash shopper lv62 v3
racing game rpg works fine if they really wanted to. look at Evolution GT it has RPG stat-base but still maintaining balance and skill is still involve. If this secret game gonna be like drift city... then ima pretend i never heard about it!
note and definition:
"hardcore cash shopper" is who cash shop, who buys ingame currency, who has uber equipments, who mask their poor skill with the description stated just now.
"normal player" is who play everything by the game. no illegal activities. not using legal cash shop items. skillful player.

Same reason why I lost interest in Spellborn. Since they're publishing the game here in the states.
I don't trust Acclaim as far as I could throw'em.
