Free for another month, a good thing?

Spiderweb extended the free period till the end of the year and while that saves me some cold hard cash I can help but feel ambiguous about it. Allready several oldtimers have gone on standby awaiting future developments and the longer the uncertainty lasts the more people will lose hope...

Maybe if they gave us some indication of their future plans but as it is we have no idea what's in store. I'd love to see this relaunch succeed but I've been around too long to ignore to the fact that Ryzom has seen too little development for too long...Don't get me wong I still believe Ryzom has lots of potential but it needs some lubbin to draw in new players and hold on to the oldtimers.

Shoot

(expressing my frustration here because I still can't do it on the oficial boards )

I don't know how these guys keep the servers running with no cash comming in.

Hell, If they want to give a game away for free so be it.

Personally I think these devs need to get a move on already. All this time to setup billing?

Man I wonder how long the first content patch is going to take to release, 2012?

day by day these devs piss me off more and more, it's a good damn shame.

I wish a company like Turbine or CCP bought the game, freaking thing would already be loaded with content and bug fixes by now.

    Oh well

    PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

I really love this game, but it is in serious need of development. Bugs need to be fixed old players need new content etc etc.

I will always play this game as long as it is around but I'm starting to lose my faith in any success. I hope they pull something out of their as* on this 'relaunch' that demonstrates their capabilities or that they have at least been developing something... not gonna hold my breath though.

I played this game before Ring was released. I really hated Ring idea so I quited. Now when I visited their site and read about this free game, it seems like they lost all faith in it and just messing around before death....

Game have great potential, but need more development...

First of all why quit over something that has little to no effect on overall gameplay (ring is completely isolated from the rest of the game and can only be used to create user made instances)

Secondly it's in the process of relaunching so I'm not quite sure where you see any indication of anyone loosing faith (except perhaps some of the players) The new owners may have some problems getting things on the right track but even if they are loosing hope they will most certainly make sure that doesn't become apparent on the official site....

But I have to agree with you on one thing: Ryzom does need more development

Indeed, why quit over something that doesn't affect your gameplay ? It's not like the temples or the outposts or a major nerf, or a catastrophic patch that would make crafting useless by introducing "epic" gear dropping directly from NPCs.

The new owners are experiencing unexpected difficulties. They give us more free time, at their own expense. It's not like some big company releasing a REALLY unfinished game without the features that were promised for launch and making you pay to download the Open Beta, the lvl-capped headstart, the free trial that comes with the buddy keys (that weren't ready for launch either). We have a game with decently working mechanics that needs a bit more polish and a few enhancements. At least we are not paying to try / test a broken game. It does need new features but it's still better quality than some other stuff I tried (and even paid for, bleh) in the past.

Even though the engine is a bit dated, it performs better than some of the "next gen" stuff out there. The concept in itself is more next-gen than most of the cookie-cutter rip-offs out there. And yet, we still aren't paying for it.

At least, we'll have events coming in a "very near future" (TM).
