I just dont even know what to say about this.... Ill think of something not too offensive eventually. I just cant imagine that if the game put me to sleep this would do anything but that.
AVERY LOL, How much stock you got in Funcom common on now be honnest. HeHeHe

I can see it now.

"Oh man, not AGAIN!"
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Don't be haters...
Funcom has to make money somehow, no one wants to see Erling Ellingson on the street begging for food
But it is funny to imagine a Conan board game with broken and missing pieces being played on a board surface that is almost half blank (due to being shipped unfinished). I bet the graphics will be great, though.
Hell if this has got as many bugs as your MMO then i'll have to retire my 2xD100 dice for good...

Nice, constructive posting from all of the above, basically whats the point of trolling?
The only thing in common with the mmorpg is the name and the lore, hence why it's posted here for those interested. So typically of these boards out come the hater, flamers and trollers. Give yourselves a pat on the back.
Ok Avery then if your gonna get upset here then lets take a look at what you posted. If what you say is true then what are you doing posting a board game here. This is a forum discussion on MMO's not that i wanna call alot of attention but your a fanboi in the biggest way with Funcom.

Ok what you fail to realise is that there are people here that play the game and enjoy the lore from which said board game is based off. Mmorpg's also have origins from muds which were originally based on rule sets of said board games. Why do people talk about WAR 40k lore, WoW trading cards? It's linked in with everything. But you tell me whats the point of posting stuff that is not just constructive to the topic? here is an answer for you A) just out to take a jibe at me. your grief with a video game from so long a go (this board game has nothing to do with Funcom or it's stocks)
So what kind of mindset is that. Bitter and grief stricken? alright that may be. I can respectfully acknowledge that view point, so how about you show the same courtesy to myself and those that like the lore instead of an attempt to fire up the fans with post by people, like the first few posting here?
This about the lore of the game, from which I have had many MANY interesting talks about on these forums, around which some of the game is based and here we have (edit: Nexus) professionals in the business bringing a board game based on that lore to those interested.
But name calling, insinuations is all ok, right? Like I said whats the point..
If you lot can't bring anything decent to the table then do the rest of us a favour and don't bother. Someone want to tell the bright sparks above that the word Funcom does not appear anywhere..
LOL at least its not trading cards with in game fluff items to entice people to buy booster packs. Although i can see that coming soon too.

My understanding is that this is based off the core mechanics from WotR, however much less complicated and thus more forgiving; coupled with focus on a campaign mechanic to secure territory via battle. This might be fun for those who enjoy both the REH lore and strategy board games; like those who enjoy War of the Ring.
In regards to the feedback in this thread, I don't see it as a mixture of A) or very much. What I saw was:
If these forums had a sub section for either official lore or game lore, then it would be a great piece for discussion for likely the right target group. As it stands however, we have an admittedly polarized group presented with an article that may not suit either of those two main groups to digest and comment on.
To me, it's the equivalent of trying to have a quiet game of chess in the middle of a mosh pit. The solution thus, seems to be:
I don't expect the general MMO forum going community to bring any measure of civility to the table, nor do I put that burden on them. After all, who am I to tell them how they should feel about their interests. If they break the RoC, there is a process. If we don't want to listen to any one or several posters with a history of views/approach that we disagree with, we literally have ability to block their posts from view.
If we choose neither or find that neither is as effective as we'd like, then we're in a position were we may consider leaving this medium as a viable means for communicating our views and seek alternatives; or stay and fight for every post we put out there, know that the environment we post in is at present not one that favors a particular type of discourse.
In the case of the latter, we cannot lament or lash out in our discontent at the disagreeable responses we may receive; for as long as we choose this medium to communicate, we also choose its community.

Bless their little black hearts, they do keep this forum active though!
Actually it looks kinda neat. Depending on what it costs I may pick one up. Be great to take to a friends house and give it a try.
I'll wait for Avery to review it. If it is to expensive maybe they will sell it at the Howard House in June. They always sell Conan figures there and other junk cheap.

Lol, is this thread a joke?
And why should he have stocks in Funcom for advertising that board game? After what I can see on the webpage funcom isn't the producers behind it....
Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom
To all the trolls: Fantasy Flight Games is not Funcom
I cant wait for this game. Fantasy Flight Games makes great boardgames period.

Opinions are like assholes - everyone has one and they all stink
Avery knows exactly what im talking about with this board game and Funcoms AOC.
MAGA
I just read the rules. Not bad. I'm probably buying it.
I like the way how Conan moves around the map helping or hindering the players.
It would be awesome if they could do something like that in AoC. Just imagine King Conan running around Hyboria doing random stuff and ganking players. Or maybe one player at a time could somehow take control of Conan character and control it.
They really should change the name of the board game. Age of Conan is not a brand name I would want on my product.
Why not? Age of Conan is a great MMORPG!

Sounds pretty neat, if they sell it in Brazil I'll buy it.
Wow everyone passed on the obvious Pun? I thought for sure I'd see something like ..
"Conan Board Game ??? FunCom already made a Conan game that BORED everyone!!"
**RIMSHOT**
Actually some board games are quite entertaining. Much more entertaining than Age of Conan ever was.
Everyone check out BoardGameGeeks.com. All the games they have in top-20 are worth their price. These new card driven board games require skill and are much more fun than old school crap like the Monopoly.
My personal favorite in Twilight Struggle.

Yup I have always been a fan of table top and board games. I still remember "The Awful Green Thing from Outer Space".
My pick for the best ever board game ( super obscure, can't find an e-bay copy or even a reference to it on the web ) was "The Assassination Game" (not the lame RL-RP one). You traveled a board of exotic locations, bought illegal goods in one country and sold it in another (arms, drugs, state secrets, nuclear materials), invested in body guards and if you landed on the same square as another player you could atempt to assassinate them (had to get threw his bodyguards first). Was great fun and one of the first mature themed board games I had ever seen. Easy to learn, difficult to master ... like all the best board games are.
Edit: PS great link , 2 listing for The Assassination Game, neither are the one I am looking for.
Does it come with a board and pieces when you purchase or do you have to wait a few months after you purchase it to get them?
I'm just askin'.
LOL, Priceless

wow, you guys are rabid. The knee-jerk reactions in this thread are both pitiful and priceless at the same time.
Indeed, no matter what's going on in mmo or the news, these guys just want to post no matter what.
And the easiest road to a post is a non-constructive one, hell even a joke take more efforts than trolling, rambling about old facts and mistakes...
Avery please don't waste time explaining yourself as a correspondant I wouldn't ask no less than you reporting news and what not about this mmo.
Whether people like it or not you're doing just that, gathering informations and posting them, thank you.
As for the board game I never liked bi-products of videogames, whether it's a movie, toy or board game, I'm sorry i just can't, but this doesn't mean the product is bad.
As for AoC itself, as much as I hate certain aspects of this game I have to hand it to Funcom, with all the mistakes and bad decisions there is a good game with potential coming to life slowly.
I'm sorry for the early birds, but being a mmo vet I cannot believe anyone has ever played a perfect release. What I do velieve is that newcomer to the mmo realm weren't just ready to experience the first year of an mmo.
Although some companies have made better decision for mmo release AoC wasn't in worst shape than most mmo on release.
People forget the general chat in WoW first six months, people asking why the hell hero class weren't in game yet, where were the promised player housing, how come DireMaul wasn't working yet, empty zone(yes there were a few please try to remember WoW vets will smile and easily answer this one).
Remember Eve online first 6 months, so buggy someone could destroy your ship, then your pod and loot your inventory floating in space before your loading screen was finished loading just to see your dead body in space station.
I'm sure other vets could reply this thread with more colorfull examples of popular mmo's.No one remember when people were teleporting in WoW to empty chest, speed hack, no one remember that paladin could one shot a raid boss alone stacking reckoning for hours.Yes one player with a friend were able to down raid bosses that required 40 men raids!
Gee are only newcomer to mmo or short term memory people posting on these forums nowaday or are so comfortable on 4-12 years old mmo's release that we expect the same quality on release?
