I use nothing but Mac books for work and i have to say the only reason i own a PC is becuase i want to play Video games on a desktop rather than a console or laptop.
It seems now Apple are using some good hardware like the intel processors and NVIDIA graphics cards. I also now see that they are supported by alot of games i have bought on the PC, even world of warcraft is.
I much prefer Apple to PC as i have far fewer problems with my macs than i do with PC. I would dred to think how many hours of my life has been wasted thrying to fix windows problems.
If LOTRO would support Mac i would throw my PC out the door and buy a Mac!

An old clan member plays LOTRO on an intel mac and he says it works beautifully using Boot Camp.

I play LotRO on a first-generation Intel Mac Mini (with rather limited memory, alas) using Boot Camp. It works fine.
My only complaint is that I have to keep the graphics on the "Low" setting (a pity, too, because LotRO is such a beautiful game world) to keep things from getting too laggy.
I imagine the newer Macs/Power Books handle the graphics much better, however.
There are instructions on how to play LotR:O via wine on both Mac OSX and Linux, and at leat on linux it works like a charme (although with some performance lost and without directx10 features as expected):

We aren't going to be allowing RMT in any way, shape or form on the non-exchange enabled EQ II servers. Period. End of statement.
