Very High quality. I don't think you'll be able to use maximum quality yet, though you mgiht be able to when running through open space with no people around. :P

Its going to run like crap, might as well box it up and send it to me and buy yourself a brand new one. Don't worry, I won't charge you a dime for taking it off your hands, its the least I can do. image

J/k...if it runs sluggish at all...its not your fault...not with those specs

It probably won't run on max, as the engine was designed to scale up to systems that aren't on the market yet. No offense but I never understood why people pay for bleeding edge hardware that you know is going to be run-of-the-mill in 6 months and obsolete in a year and a half.

Its sorta like how crack addicts always wants the best crack at the time...they need it, spend all they have on it, even though they can either 1) wait until someone makes it out their bathtub with better chemicals or 2) make it themselves.

    Crack comes with no patience...

Over  kill on the ram, I just dropped an extra gig into mine yesterday (2 gig now) and have close to 900 meg free when running the game and a few other items in the background. I think 1.5 gig would be the sweetspot as far as bang for the buck. It did speed up the load times but the FPS did not increase all that much. My system is not quite as good as yours (9800 pro /128) and I have set it on extreme a few times and get around 5 to 10 FPS in the smaller zones.

Edit and don't worry too much about running on the most extreme settings the games beats the pants off everything else out there looks wise even on the lowest setting. It even looks good on the wifes box which has a ti 4200 card, but she only has 512 ram so I may upgrade her card and add another gig of ram.

Yeah..it seems a shame how fast hardware becomes obselete. But perhaps if people didnt buy the "bleeding edge" now, new and better technology might slow down for lack of capital.

Yep, that should be pretty spiffy. Agreed with the previous poster - 4GB RAM, at this stage, is silly for a gamer. No game's gonna use anywhere near that, and gamers aren't usually doing a lot of multitasking. Be really nice for CAD workstations, though. A gamer should be fine with 1GB; 2GB is the most any of us could use right now. Six months from now, of course, that'll probably change.

About your "max-detail" desire: if SOE is to be believed, you won't get clean frame rates (consistent 30+) on maximum detail with ANY current hardware; to run max-detail with 30+ fps, you need hardware that doesn't exist yet. I'm not sure I buy that, but we'll see soon.

Well its like this the current maximum setting is not even the maximum setting for the game engine so in a year's time or less when they decide to increase the setting and open up more features it will be behind .

The current maximum srtting is extreme setting from ppl using the 6800ultra and x800xt(according to some nerds ingame the 6800ultra plays better) they can get to extreme setting  but they need a)off peak b)open space c)low crowd d)no combat.

A friend of mine who i regularly play with uses a FX55 2gb 6800ultra(seems the RAM is of no importance really post 1gb) plays very high setting  and has tried extreme setting in group combat but it locked his system after it slowly crawled to a halt.

My brother with 1gb athlon xp 3200 x800pro dares not go into combat at all on extreme setting.

Basically the Gcard that would run EQ2 in combat at an accceptable rate in extreme setting is the next generation Gcards out next year.

And most likely SoE will raise the bar of the setting just to tease people like me who are waiting for the next generation card  and we will get a higher even settingimage

    x800xt clocked at 700 mghz >>> 6800ultra

Think it just has to do with the age old thing that some cards run better on some games.

My brother is getting up to 220fps in planetside with X800pro while someone with a fx6800ultra is getting 210fps .

Just one of those things.Anyhow fact remains extreme setting is very laggy with any card on the market while in combat and crowd.

It is kind of a teaser setting which lets you see what the engine can do.
