ok so you know that eq2 and wow are coming out and you are the little guy with a diffrent game. so what Nevrax should of done is this
Since this game iv read seems a little unifinshed (music, quests, mounts, etc.) they should of not relased it when they did. Instead of hiding from the big boys say screw them are games better. Now they should of waited till about 15days before WoW OB starts. Then have an OB of thier own but for 30days and no server wipe. And they should of openly told players try us for free if you know like try WoW and then come back. This would of showed some balls in my opion. Also with free 30 days of free game 15 before WoW to get playes playing then 15 days with WoW there would of been a free comparison of the 2. Also without having your chracter deleted once this period is over is HUGE! im telling you if thy would of done this they would of had a less buggy game with more content for people to experience and would fo showed they arent affraid of WoW.

This is the responce from the folks at Nevrax concering WoW.
"Our goal isn't to beat WoW which adress to a different community, younger, which wants speed, more like the "theme park" kind whereas we go further, we create a game for true mmorpg's lovers."
I think that about says it all.

All it says is they released a game far too early that now doesn't really cater to any market.
Badly bugged and unfinished products are the bane of this genre. I understand the pressures developers are under both financially and personally but it is still no excuse for conning people out of money.
Their quote should have said.......
"Our goal isn't to beat WoW, which has had far more time and money spent on it, instead we'll harp on about how 'dumbed' down it is and try and blag you into believing our game isn't 'crap' simply marketed at a different audience."
Nuff said!

If you honestly believe that WoW is more complex than Ryzom, then you obviously have never played either game. The skill system and the game world alone make WoW look like childsplay.

No, I don't believe WoW is more complex and yes, I have played both. My problem with Ryzom was that it was released to early, with too many bugs and not enough of the promised features.
I am glad you enjoy it and hope this continues for you. However, the number of subscribers speaks for itself IMO when talking about how well done or finished the game is.

*sigh*
This game is not "badly bugged and unfinished" and I don't understand the fervent need of EQ2/WoW fans to heap abuse on it.
Just go play your games of choice (a bit difficult seeing they haven't been released yet, but that doesn't seem to be stopping the comparisons... ). You don't have to play, and you don't have to worry about it taking players from your games' base market. Ryzom wasn't designed for them. It's marching to the beat of a different drummer.
I just like to give my opinions of games i've played. If you like Ryzom thats all good, I didn't and I don't pay them any money. It was looking good right up until they released it unfinished, badly unfinished in my opinion *shrug*.
I'm not worried about people jumping ship, hell i'd give anything for at least half of the people to desert WoW before launch...that way I get a good start without all the lag

And exactly how do you know the number of subscribers?

About the low numbers of suscribers : EQ2 and WoW are hard competition. I know Nevrax says the game is not for the same gamers but thats only half true. The community in Ryzom is definetly more mature then the future community of WoW or EQ2, ive played many mmorpg and Ryzom is by far the best community ive seen, the player base is definetly more mature. This can be seen by the vocabulary used in the main chat and by the type of answer you get. Never seen "yo, n00b, etc" around in Ryzom. But a lot of mature gamers are also waiting for WoW or EQ2, those gamers would benifit from discovering Ryzom but some of them are not into sci-fi mmo's and arent interested by the game, some of my friends think that way... but they are 25 years old WoW fanbois... one of them bought all the Warcraft Books (oh and i had to say hes living with mom and dad LOL)... I made fun of him for awhile, im not into warcraft lore, i dont see anything original there, its typical good vs evil in medieval fantasy.
Anyway I hope that SoR community will grow but i dont want all those kiddie gamers coming to ruin my game. I think SoR will have a brilliant future, the game is awsome, once the game will be 100% fixed it might bring some more people to Atys...
Those whining about the game being incomplete have never played an mmorpg at released or had forgotten about it.
My 2 cents.
I play Saga of Ryzom. Ive played since early beta and I have seen the game come a long way. At first it was in such bad shape that I was hostile towards Nevrax but now I see theyre really on the right track to making this game great.
It is definitely not finished, and it has been released pre-maturely. However, if there was ever a mmorpg that NEEDED to get out into stores in a hurry it was this game.
Everquest II and World of Warcraft are looming, and I think once they hit the shelves, players are going to be drawn to them, at least to check them out for a while and compare to other mmorpgs they are currently playing. I am hooked on SoR now, but I sure am going to be playing EQ2 when it comes, and I think many players are the same. So you see the urgency in getting SoR out early?
This is still not an excuse for a buggy game, and I think Nevrax knows this because I see some improvements, little minor ones, but there is a major patch coming soon and hopefully the game will be working better shortly.
I am a huge fan of Everquest and I have high hopes for Everquest II, but I have a feeling that the game is going to be released with some bugs and people will begin to complain about it as they are complaining about SoR.
On the other hand, I have complete confidence that World of Warcraft will ship polished and with very few, minor bugs. The only thing is that I am not as interested in this game as I am in EQ2 and Ryzom. It does seem like a simpler, more basic mmorpg, but I can only make this conclusion from what I have read and what people say who have played the beta . . .
I am looking for a mmorpg with more mature players and game systems that are a little more complex and dynamic. Saga of Ryzom has this, and I am willing to stick it out for a while to see if the game is improved to the point it should have been at upon release.
That sums it up quite well for me. I have no bad feelings towards this game other than the early release. As I have said I do understand the reasons behind it, but still in my eyes it was way too early.
Once there is a lot more to do in the game i'll check it out again.

I played the first free month, GREAT F'in game BUT wait a month or maybe even a few, then check it out. It will hopefully have some good content by then. They already had an invasion of bugs in matis lands and that was fun, it was a major part of what i was lookin for, hopefully they get better and better and better... but the balancing/bugs needs major work. mostly balancing(try ranged and tell me im wrong, just tell me.... and ill FREAK OUT! Hardest damn profession. launchers are almost useless in a long fight). Trust me, i really tried this game. it badly needs more people NOW(the economy need people, otherwide its a great, makes crafters/harvesters feel usefull) but i feel i need to simply be patient with it. ill wait outside the game for now.....
OVERALL: GREAT CSR, GREAT COMMUNITY, GOOD GAME, BRIGHT FUTURE now it must survive
The developers of Ryzom doomed the game far worse than any competition. I played some open beta and the first 3 weeks of retail. It was the first and only game I quit before the free month expired. For a crafting game I am amazed that the patch to add NPC vendors for players to sell still isnt in the game. This is also the only game that I know where the reset the skill points because they had to do major surgery to the skills after it released. Maybe in 6 months they can get thier act together but the damage will be done. AO and Horizons are good examples. AO is suppose to be a good game now but many, like me, will never play it after experiencing the launch. Horizons repeatedly made bad mistake. SoR will either turn out to be a good game with low player subscriptions or go chaper 7 as is Horizons future.
I really did like this game for awhile and it had alot of promise. I am tired of playing a shell of a game with severe broken economies and player mechanics.
