What's the most fun thing about MMOs?

Let me know what your other answer would be if you pick that one.

Personally, I like developing my character. The more options I have to make my toon different the better.

     PvP by a wide margin.

What's the most fun thing about MMOs?

Quitting them after playing for a few hours and spending the next 3 years crying and whining about them on mmorpg.com

I'm pretty sure that choice would dominate the poll :P

it was a tough choice between RP, socializing, and exploring, but I chose socializing.

Without a doubt, exploring a free-range non-instanced world is the most fun I have had in MMO's.

    Oddly enough roleplay.
Lately I've come to appreciate spontaneous heat of the moment roleplay. But that's only recently. Before that Exploration and Socializing. Edit: Making money is another favorite aspect.

    The community for me.

By community though, I mean more than just bullshitting with your friends while you're off doing whatever.  Working together with other people to advance common goals, as well as the experience of playing against other *real people* who's goals might be in direct conflict with yours -  and in Eve they frequently are.

I play MMOs because I don't want a canned experience in a box, which is what single player RPGs are.  I want a game where my actions impact and help shape the game world around me - less of a 'video game' and more of a game-ish virtual world.

i actually couldn't decide which one..

    * roleplay? nah.. some mmo's nowadays don't have much roleplay involved.

    * crafting? not a fan of.

    * quests? can be such a grind sometimes.

    * PVP? this one i picked particularly because it's the competitive part of mmo's. knowing you're pwning noobs from somewhere else in the globe is such a great feeling. *evil laugh* and because at Atlantica Online, the free leagues are fun.

    * PVE? well yeah. especially in WOW where great drops could be acquired.

    * socializing? depends on the community..

    * exploring? not much to explore on the first few levels of some mmo's.

    * making money? more like making gold and losing money especially for P2Ps. and..

    * lore and storyline? could be. but pvp tops it since sometimes the storyline comes with quests and.. well, see above reason for quests.

couldn't think of anything for other.

Good poll. Would probably say socializing and exploring of the options given but could also say dungeons or advancement as part of the 'other'.
